  1. Nice fish!! Tell your son congrats! My son was just like that at his age. he was the luckiest fisherman. Took him to Canada, outfished me. Took him on our 5 acre pond, outfished me. He was so lucky, we were out in the mddle of the pond one day, he had the net in his hand, thrust it in the water and pulled out a 5.5 pounder....no joke! I about fell out of the boat LOL ;D ;D
  2. Thought you guys might want to know, in case :you had not heard. He did a lot for our sport! :'( :'(
  3. hey bud, i shot you an IM. please check it out. thanks
  4. I have not bought a b&s for a boat. But I have to believe it could push a 14' jon boat around probably at about 7-9 MPH. If you stop to think about it the motor won't be running that many hours and they have been running on lawn mowers for years. With a tight budget, it would not be a bad buy. IMHO.
  5. Got that RIGHT! God bless them all!
  6. Hey dtaylor, If I don't have a lazyboy on the boat, how am I supposed to take my Saturday afternoon nap ;D. Ok, I buy your "in tune with your bait" stuff, etc. But heck, it's still nice to take a nap! ;D ;D

  12. I charge my battery in the garage all the time with the garage door down. It is a two car garage. Unless your garage is exremely air tight whcih most are not, I don;t think you should have a problem. Obviously, never put your battery on the concrete floor as this will zap the power quickly.
  13. Herin northern california, the waters ae typically very clear to lightly stained. However, there is a concern about the level of mercury in the lakes from the early gold and silver mining that ook place. There are recommendations on amount of fish to eat per month from most lakes. I don't usually worry about eating them a I am a catch and releae guy. but every now and then I will eat a few. Probably not enough to harm me. Overall, as far as trach and all, it is fairly clean. Fisher of men, a good project for your class may be for them to go and check out the fishing regulations fro each state. They will typically have any warnings about eating fish and the reasons associated. DNR websites are a good plae to start.
  14. yeah, and a tiny torpedo
  15. I've never fished from one of those butt seats, but frankly they don't look very comfortable. It looks like you would still have to have feet firmly planted to stabilize? I prefer the full seat with the back on it. Anyone differ, I would be interested to hear.
  16. I'd go ask a real pro at your paint dealer.
  17. Jimmy Carter had a large rabbit attack him while he was fishing once. LOL ;D ;D ;D

  25. OK, I am sure this is a subject a lot of us could use some advice. Scenario. You are going to fish a lake for the first time. You have a map of the lake. What is your approach in planning strategy. How do you discount portions of the lake and identify the best parts. Please be as specific as possible. This will save a lot of time when going to a new lake. Thanks in advance!
