  1. What’s nice about them is they are not heavy wire.
  2. To force yourself to fish new ways or ways you become hesitant on trying you should empty your boat of all the crutch items you fall back on and this will force you to fish them. It’s either you fish the new techniques you’ve been wanting to try and get better at or you have a very shortened day on the water by packing it in and going home because you were never really interested in fishing the new techs. Might sound off the wall but it will force you to at least make something happen with them. Give it the time needed to learn them. At least an attempt. And no fault in trying them. Same would hold true if you have been a spinning fisherman your whole life and trying to fish a bait caster and when you are out you keep falling back to your spinning gear after only 4 cast with the new set up. Again I realize it sound crazy but it may work. I have a handful of good various baits that are soft plastics and crankbaits that are a version of “red”. I can’t do squat with red. It is something I really would like to get over. Something I need to revisit. I ignore the color even though I know it is productive. Or it can be productive. This is something I may have to do one day out. Take these red and red variation of baits out and fish them exclusively and put this phobia to bed. Give it 110%+ and try my butt off or truly see the disgust in red, get red out of my life all together and throw the stuff away in the parking lot trash can.
  3. A bit older school but I fish Cabin Creek Salty Spiders.
  4. I'm a big user of Zoom Baits also. But I don’t think they get all that hyped up about or really get talked about much on here. I really don’t believe there is much of an advertisements about them as in years past. BUT, not much of a need for it. Time proven product.
  5. Ditch, not sure what you mean by hyped up. Hyped by fishermen or hyped by the manufacturer. I believe (within reason) I could catch a bass anywhere on Berkley soft plastics. I don’t really think PowerBait is over hyped.
  6. Very impressive. To be honest I’ve never got into the repairs with it or any other glue/adhesive because I thought it may be offensive. How strong is the odor of it if I may ask? Thanks.
  7. It happens. You just have to move on and not dwell on it. Not to say you should not try to reason with it some. Maybe come up with a bit of a reason the bite was not there. Could have been you didn’t switch your baits up enough, fishing the wrong depths. It’s not like the fish were all caught or they all died. They’ll be there next time or tomorrow.
  8. I agree. This has happened on occasion for me also. When I’m out I really don’t care what anyone else is throwing or doing but if I see where they did not get bit or catch anything in an area I do want to throw in. I don’t let that keep me from hitting it after they are gone. I’m alway ready to run a Rat-L-Trap through those area. Feels good to get in one of those areas where a guy was at for a half an hour or an hour and you play that spot and rip one out of of it.
  9. When they signed him he was gonna be a savior and the next best thing since sliced bread. For the last few weeks he’s the biggest POS on the face of the earth. Never gonna make it. I hope he get the last laugh in Indy. WIP/WYSP has a lot of tool bags on Philly Sports Radio. I like Ike Reese the best. And Ron Jawarski. They seem to keep it real. Probably because they played the game. But you know sometimes a place (Philly) is just not right for you.
  10. Not sure what kind of bait you were throwing but a bass may have bitten out of anger not feeding. I’ve had that happen and I believe they did not want it in their territory.
  11. Yes. ? I know where you are coming from when it comes to a certain color. Mine happens to be reds. I waste no time on them. I’ve tried. I’ve given it an honest effort. Maybe I’m making a mistake by not sticking to it. I have a problem with it between the shoulder blades.
  12. I agree with your take on green pumpkin on soft baits. Does not hurt to have slightly different colors that have a fleck in them. If you put GP in the center there are a handful that surround it or a bit of an off Shute of it. Soft plastics are cheap and easy to try. The OP could of just as easy started this post about Sexy Shad. If you put Sexy Shad in the middle of a circle there are many satellite patterns that go around that. I do a lot better on some of those other sexys then the original. My opinion they are better by a lot. Most likely I started with original sexy Shad years ago and grew out to those other patterns. I think you are correct though. Have the norm with you. And have the slight variations with you to throw also. Give them something different to see. I recently just pick up a sexy version that is hard to find and you don’t see it around at all. It will be new to me for this season. I expect it to catch bass, it will catch bass. Something I just feel that good about. I could be wrong. But right now without it even touching water yet I don’t think so. Be different, break from the norm. Does not hurt.
  13. I must correct. No Zack Ertz trade deal as of right now.
  14. In earlier post my main objective is to go home to the river and figure out what’s up with it and see if it has the potential to come around some. I miss the Smallies, but anyway. Re arranging my Strike King boxes the other night I found that Last season I bought DB Craw in a couple of version and I don’t think I took the time to fish them. I was hot on that pattern and after seeing it again that was a mistake on my part because I think I can certainly do something with it. Slightly lighter color craw. Have to make something happen this season with it. “DB” have no idea what that means, don’t believe it means what the first thing that pops in my head. The white with the orange caught my eye. Just found out there is a story behind it. Denny Brauer bait. I’ll watch the video.
  15. He’ll do fine, his style with a rpo will be something different. They need help in receiving, o-line and a bit on defense. With a new head coach on board, different mentality, sort of a team in rebuilding they will get there. Him in at the end of the season was all good. Philly sports are about those Eagles. Not to take anything away from the Flyers, Phillies, Sixers or Union but Eagle talk is everyday regardless of time of year. Regardless of how well or bad things are going. At 3:00 in the am or 3:00 pm. Philly football has a passion. It’s for real.
  16. I’m a Ravens Fan and it will be a long time or close to never that Hurtz is a Lamar Jackson. Not sure if they will be on the schedule against each other this year. Season just ended maybe I should have waited a couple of months to start trash. But a lot of talk now about Wentz. That was great. But old Andy Reed is still hanging. A lot of trash talk when he went to KC and how that wasn’t his team. Not his players blah blah blah but it’s his team now.
  17. They would have him back in a heartbeat. Was the talk for a few days on Philly Sports Talk. They been talking about an Indy or Chicago for a couple of weeks and maybe Foles would be in the deal. I’m a pot stirrer when it comes to the Eagles. Nick was like a god here. He still is in Philly.
  18. Animal Houseing Blues Brothering
  19. I’m down here in birds country but not the true birds fan. I like ribbing them some. But over the years the birds have had some players that I’m a fan of. They are gonna have their hand full this season. Whole NFC East might have issues this year again. Certainly one of the stronger divisions of football could not get out of the way of each other this past season. Chump division. Blame it on Covid. Easiest thing to do.
  20. Hurtz looks like the QB. I believe Zack Ertz is officially gone also. Zack may be beyond his peak but he’ll be able to help another team. Hope where ever he goes he comes back to take it to the birds.
  21. Let that snow come guy. We are gonna have a pretty good season this year out our way. If we are lucky we will have a bit more snow, natural melting away, some spring rains (no flash floods), maybe we will have nice water levels to work with and good water quality.
  22. I like reading through this thread and seeing how happy guys are when they receive stuff the really wanted. I have/had a short list of baits I wanted for this season. Going to try some new to me X Zone stuff this season for the first time. Feel real good about it. Got all that in at Christmas. Very quick delivery from those guys. Went factory direct for my order. But I’m starting to get ants in my pants on some hardbaits that have been on backorder. Want spares of a few good producers. One is a new bait but I don’t want to take just any color patterns to get some. Sort of want what I want type of thing. They will arrive, can’t fish them today or anytime soon just got 7” more snow yesterday. The Ants are starting to bite me.
  23. Crankbait fishing is a huge part of my fishing. To start out I don’t think you need to start out jumping into it head over heels. To go out and buy a lot of crankbaits may be a mistake at first. Just get a few that generally will work on almost and body of water and develop a confidence in them. Buy ones that are to your depth of water. Does water clarity change where you fish? Most likely can and will. There are so many manufacturers of them that your head can spin. And basically they are the same but we all have favorites and ones that we just fish harder and get good results from. I’m trying to say a Bandit is not much different than a Strike King, Ser. 3 vs. 200 A reaction bait is what it is. I don’t think a bass is putting a lot of thought process into it before striking it. At times a bass will take it the second it touches the water, takes it immediately after it passes cover or an object, or will follow it during a retrieve to hunt it down and take it. Most likely on a pause of speed or rise of the bait. I guess I do fish various brands and have been doing it a long time but for one starting out I don’t believe you have to look much further than what Rapala puts out. (I do not work or have stock in Rapala) They do catch fish. They have hard baits in all of the categories to cover rattling to Shad bodies to jerkbaits and color patterns that have stood up for years. I guess I’m trying to say keep it as simple as possible at first. You have your whole fishing life to make it harder on yourself. Great post and there is a ton of good info here.
  24. I agree he’s not done. He’s been done in Philly. Sort of glad he is under his previous coaches wing. A player certainly does not want to go out under the circumstances he had this past season. Im not saying he was lucky to find a job there but most teams have a quarterback and many look to the draft. Jaylon Hurtz is gonna have his hands full in Philly. He likes to run. I like that in a quarterback. Keep from the sack, have an option. But teams will be all over that like white on rice and will be ineffective. Don’t see a quarterback who runs excessively being the answer. They have a long time family friend in to coach Hurtz. Will be a media frenzy this season. Philly sports radio is the best. They contradict each other and themselves all day long. Philly better bring back Nick Foles, should have never left him go. Foles can clean up after Hurtz’s mess.
  25. Well I guess starting tomorrow you can get a Philly jersey dirt cheap at all the local greater Philly DICK’S. He’s moving on to the Colts. He’ll probably do alright there. And when the Birds play the Colts he’ll probably take it to them. Usually the way it goes.
