Go to the G. Loomis web page and read about your rod and how G. Loomis suggests it be used for specific fishing techniques. 2. Check the diameter of your 50lb braid to get the line test of monofilament equivalent make sure the line test meets the rod's parameters. 3. If all is OK with the line test mono parameters you can then use the 50lb braid (12-pound mono?). 4. You can add any leader you want as long as it matches the monofilament test of your 50lb braid, such as the 12-pounds mentioned above. 5. You can fish the rod as G. Loomis directs without worrying about breaking the stick. Have fun.

Well, you may have to do the following to get your crankbaits down to the 30-foot level with your regular crankbait setup. A word of caution: When fishing deep crankbaits you need a "heavy" rod due to the pressure you will be putting on the rod when setting the hook and battling the fish. Use fluorocarbon line of 12 to 14 pound test to allow the bait to get and stay deeper longer. If necessary, use lead around the treble hook shafts or suspend dots to get the bait to stay deep. A "floating" crankbait will not work for you to go deep as you will not be able to cast the needed long distance to get the crankbait to the desired depth after starting your retrieve, unless you can reel very fast. But you will loose so much territory getting the crank down to the desired depth that it may not be worth the effort. Here is my suggestion: Set up your rig as you want it and trolling motor to the spot where you were going to cast the crankbait. Drop the crankbait straight down to the bottom. Then let out some line and using the trolling motor move away from where you dropped the crankbait, letting out line until you reach the desired location you want to stop the boat. Start reeling, remembering that you need to reel slow to keep the crank in the strike depth for as long as you can but fast at first to get the crank on the bottom. You want the crank to drag along the bottom if possible. You want the crank to hit and deflect off any structure on the bottom. If you cast the crankbait you will use about half, if not more, of the line's yards getting the crank down to the lower depth. The bait may be in the 25 to 30-foot depth for half, if not less, than the total yards of your cast. If you do this try to reel the crank fast at first and then slow down when you hit bottom or think it is deep enough. This technique may produce strikes, too. Give it a shot. Just try to figure out how deep the crank was when you get a hit so you can determine the pattern. Let us know how you do.

Reels - Be careful. They have a tendency to break. Rods - Outstanding. You can't go wrong with the Extreme or Cranking Stick lines. Best Rods and Reels - Try Susquehanna Tackle for their input and of course, Delaware Valley Tackle to find out if they can make a specific rod for your needs.

The smallest size reel you feel confident for casting, fighting and landing the fish. Shimano or Diawa reels are very good.

The rod is the conduit between you and your bait. You have to have confidence in what your rod can do with the bait and how it performs when setting the hook and landing the fish. The reel is the machine that helps send the bait where you want it with a soft landing and to help you fight and land the fish. The reel of your choice is the one you have confidence. The reel has to perform as you want it to perform and be comfortable for you while on the rod. Remember, reels have many options and long, crazy sounding advertising using big and goofy words to sell the reel. So as you read about the various reels out there be cognizant of the fact that you are reading advertising hype to sell the reel. Same for the rods you consider purchasing. Keep it simple and you can' go wrong.

Depth and water clarity control color. All colors, other than for blue, fade to black or gray in deeper or stained water. If the bass in the area are aggressive they will hit your lure no matter what color it is. If the bass in the area are not aggressive they will not hit your bait no matter what colors you present.

Not saying this will occur but just giving everyone a heads up so you will watch the weather in your neck of the woods. Remember, storms develop as they wish and the exact day it will hit us is subject to change but the week of January 11th could be our first snow of the new year. The European ensemble (IMAGE #3 ) is quite aggressive with a snowstorm threat for portions of the middle Atlantic and New England. It is also far and away the most accurate of all the models. It has a much bigger and more organize LOW moving off the NC coast ... the air mass is colder and the model correctly sees the blocking pattern developing over Greenland.. which forced the LOW to stay to the south. This in turn means that most of the middle Atlantic away from the coast appears to be cold enough for at least significant snowfall. I prefer the European ensembles solution which shows a significant but NOT massive East coast winter storm for JAN 11-12. Stay tuned. Should be interesting to see what is predicted and what actually happens.

Wife driving in Penna when her friend grabbed her GPS unit to comparfe with the friend's telephone map and wife's two right side tires hit the white line on the right side of the road. You know. The white line put there to help motorists at night stay on the road, especially when they are hit with high beam headlights. Wife was startled at what her friend did and for only an instant did her tiers hit the white line. She got pulled and given a ticket for crossing the white line. So I feel your pain about what happened to you. We have so many wonderful law enforcement officers that it takes only one or two "gung ho officers" or "jacka$$es" to leave a bad taste in our mouths about all law enforcement people. After your and my wife's adventure with the law I can understand how people feel about those who put their lives on the line for us every day. All it takes is one or two bad apples to smear the entire industry. Hope you work this out, soon.

As for the stucco company, there are strong laws in each state mandating that employers pay their employees or face fines and jail time. May I suggest you inquire about the back pay and send a letter to the state's Attorneys General office explaining your position and asking for assistance. You may have to retain a law student from a local law school (the do pro bono work) for assistance. And on a personal note, not getting paid is not a "LOL moment."

Just got an idea! If you go to the "links" tab at the top of this page and look for Bass Clubs you can find the Virginia FLW and BASS clubs in the Tidewater area. You can then send them an email or give the president a call and ask him for advice on repair shops in the Tidewater area. Hopefully they can give you some good direction on a service/repair shop. Cavitron. You always need a trailer hook. Dark skirt with overcast, cloudy days and early in AM and late in PM. White, white/chartreuse skirt when sun is out and during the day. You can add any "trailer" you want depending on how bulky you want the Cavitron. You can remove the skirt and replace it with the "trailer" of your choice. Balance rod, reel, line test and Cavitron so you can start the retrive just before the Cavitron hits the water. Never, never take your eye off the Cavitron as long as it is in the water. Always, always be ready for an unsuspecting strike. Good luck.
