Well guys and gals, we hit the big time east or Richmond, Virginia as we have our first Buc ees off I-64 towards Tidewater in New Kent County. Heard a number of people talking about Buc ees. which I had never heard of before, and was wondering if this is going to be a new type of tourist stop for the entier family to enjoy. So tell me, all of you little green monster hunters, should we make a special visit to Buc ees???
  3. I have two suggestions about songs to sing while fishing. One is from a James Bond movie and is my all time favorite while the other is a great song from a Broadway play. The James Bond song is "Nobody Does it Better" while the Broadway show song is from Peter Pan. And good news for Glenn: Only two more surgeries to go on my hands and then I will be back in full force and beauty. Fished for the first time this year in a club tournament the weekend of November 4th and did great, even though I was not able to jump up and grab the net as fast as I used to grab the net. In the meantime, enjoy: https://www.google.com/search?q=i+don't+want+to+grow+up+peter+pan&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS957US957&oq=i+&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBggAEEUYOzIGCAAQRRg7MgYIARBFGDkyBggCEEUYOzIGCAMQRRg7MhAIBBAuGK8BGMcBGLEDGIAEMg0IBRAuGMcBGNEDGIAEMg0IBhAAGIMBGLEDGIAEMgcIBxAAGIAEMgcICBAuGIAEMgcICRAAGI8C0gEKMTIxODJqMGoxNagCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:3477425d,vid:oiW-kWFz_5I,st:0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1oV14KyvG0

Awful news. My PTSD is starting to raise its ugly head again and reading about these types of events are really bad. T&P to family for their loss.
  5. Been there. Done that. Painful. No beer or wine. Fruit juice, water, canned Cokes and Ginger Ale. Just sit there and smile and under no conditions laugh. Let us have a follow up.
  6. Toxic, 30 miles on the Rapp?!? Where did you put in? Pics note lots of water behind you and your nonboater, so it looks like you headed downstream towards the mouth of the Rapp. Glad you did well and had good weather. And if you had some good ramp follies may I venture to say you used the Tappahannock ramp off 360?
  7. Contact your homeowners agent and find out if your homeowners policy will respond to the loss, after your deductible. Good luck.
  8. Congrats. We are heading for 30 years. Going to Graves Mountain Lodge today for our friends' 50th anniversary celebration. And yes, it can be difficult to be married to a bass addict.
  9. iPhone, important papers, fishing licenses, safety course card, emergency information, .38 Smith & Wesson, hand held radio, SUV keys, sun glasses, and other items go directly into the boat's glove compartment right before launching the boat. So far, so good!

Glad you and the family are OK. Fantastic story. Surprised you have not been on a morning TV show to share it with everyone. Many people do not take lightning seriously, and that includes bass fishermen who will stay on the lake as a lightning storm approaches or passes over their heads. Being from south Louisiana, my uncle taught us cousins that when you see a storm in the distance, head for cover, lightening or no lightening. I still practice what he taught us even if the nonboater wants to stay and "catch one more."
  11. Glad I found this topic. As I had penned before, my house is on an old plantation west of Richmond, Virginia. City records recorded three cemetaries on the plantation: one we found on the south side of the property; a second found west on the property; and one is missing. When we moved into the home about 28 years ago, strange things began to happen. First, we smelled pipe tobacco and neither of us smoke. Then , things started to move on their own, with the bigest move being a chair going about 6-feet from where my wife was quilting on her sewing machine. Small pieces of jelwery disappeared and then reappared a week later in a different location. Some of my wife's quilting tools also were "found" a week later after missing in another location either in the her quilt room or a bedroom. Now we see flashes of movement in the corner of our eyes while upstairs quilting, putting fishing tacklet together, or watching TV. Just a flast speeding by a door to the room we are in. We talk to the ghost, telling it to behaive. This weekend my wife's nephew and his family spent the night with us on their way from Pennsylvania to Nags Head and no problems. Nice ghost. City of Richmond records did not show us if our house is located on a cemetary or a hospital used during the Civil War. All it says is that there are three cemetaries and the location of the first two. Being from south Louisiana and living with a Cajun grandmother who believed in ghosts and some VooDoo doesn't help with the situations, but we coexist without any problems. I have asked the ghost to go fishing with me so he could go into the water and see the bass and whisper where they are in my ear, but no luck. Now the government is going to to release the data on UFOs so we can believe in both ghosts and the small green men from outer space who have disguised themselves as bass.
  12. I have a female red fox, covered in mange, living under my back yard shed. She may have a litter of pups under the shed for all we know. What we do know is: 1. She is used to people and not scared of them. 2. She hunts in daylight hours. 3. Today, as my wife was turning her car into our garage the fox sat about 25 feet away under an oak tree watching the car, not afraid of the car or my wife. 4. Lady down the road is in charge of the Richmond Animal League and my neighbor to my left is going to ask her if there is any medicine we can give the fox to kill the mange. 5. The beautiful red male fox is not with her as far as we can tell. 6. The female fox has had fights with our neighbor's cats. Neighbor went outside when he heard the commotion and the female fox ran away. His cat is OK. Fox does not fool around with dogs. Wife wants the fox removed and relocated by the City of Richmond Animal Control, and I told her we do not want to relocate the fox if she has pups or we have to pay to get her removed. We cannot legally shoot her, nor would I allow anyone to shoot her with an arrow or rifle. And I am against trapping her under any circumstances. I have no problem putting medcine to cure the mange in food and liquid items for her to eat and drink and wait for her to vacate the shed. So what are your suggestions as to what we need to do with the fox? Thanks for your input. Looking forward to everyone's suggestions.
  13. I have had two surgeries to remove a hook from my finger and hand. Not fun. Last time it happened the Doc in a Box physician's assistance had never seen this happen before and my wife and I hand to wait another half-hour for the doctor to arrive to remove it via surgery. I am extremely careful now when handling a fish and removing a hook.
  14. Did you know that the Postal Service has a computer program that will allow you to view your daily mail delivery on your computer? It is not set up for post office boxes, but it does work for home delivery in your mailbox. My wife loves it. Here is the link to sign up: https://www.usps.com/manage/informed-delivery.htm Give it a try and let us know what you think about it.
  15. That was a close one. Glad you are OK.
  16. Glenn, how is your recovery coming along? Been released to do any fishing? I have to have back surgery on the L3 area so I will continue to miss fishing for about two to three more months. Injury has a direct impact on balance and there is no way a physian will allow me to get into a bass boat or fish from shore. Hope yo are doing well and will be filming new videos in the near future.
  17. Well, we need some information first. Even though you see "lilly pads" there are different types of pads. Some pads have thick stalks from the leafs on the surface to the bottom that are not good for the bass to swim around. Then there are the pads that have one thin stem from top to bottom that are the best to fish as the bass have room to move around and hunt crawfish and bream, etc. Always start fishing the pad fields from the outside and move inside, using the holes between the leaves to flip and pitch your plastics or drop shot/Texas rigs. Look up on Google the various pads, or send a message to your favorite pro, and ask them about the lilly pads and how to identify them. One more secret: take your paddle and go into the pads and use the paddle to make a large hole in the pads. Come back to the hole(s) about an hour or two later, or the next day, and fish it. Let us know what happens.
  18. X2. Very true answer. Use some electronics designed for bank fishing to note what is in the area that proves to be a magnet and continues to have bass move into it as you catch the ones enjoying the area. Good luck.
  19. No kidding. The loss did not impact Coach Johnson because: 1. He knew every baseball game is a new venture, not like football or basketball where the teams do the same thing, so the LSU team just forgot about the loss in the second game. 2. Coach Johnson used the lower rated bull-pen pitchers, keeping the higher bull-pen rated pitchers ready to step in. He even allowed Skeens to dress out, knowing that he would not want to pitch the guy unless absolutly necessary. 3. Coach Johnson supposedly had photos of the bull-pen pitchers taken while they were pitching for their family photos to go along with the starters. A great jesture to the guys who did not get into the game. Don't you just love baseball. A goat one night and a hero the next.
  20. Beautiful yong lady. Like you find at all SEC schools, with one exception. This is the girl who is one of the best gymnists in the USA and has a lot of money in her NIL account.

TIGERS WIN! TIGERS WIN! Seventh national baseball championship via an 18-4 route of the Florida Gators. My old LSU buddy has attended four CWS in Omaha and he says there is nothing like it in the world. He added the citizens of Omaha are wonderful people and they make you feel welcome.
  22. The LSU Fighting Tigers destroyed the Florida Gators in the third game of a "winner take all" National Championship baseball game in Omaha, Nebraska by a score of 18-4 on Monday, June 26, 2023. This is LSU's seventh baseball national championship.
