Having a discussion with another boater who tells me to quit using the Moto Stop and go with the old fashion transom saver to support the outboard motor while trailering the bass boat. He says the Moto Stop puts too much pressure on the boat's transom while the transom saver places the weight on the trailer's center roller. Your input is appreciated. Thanks.

Went to Walmart to get somethings for my wife and decided to check out the fishing department as I needed some fresh 8-pound fluorocarbon line. Wow! Gone!!! Only line available was the Zebco and Big Game. So I picked up a spool of 8-pound Big Game. Hooks and sinkers were gone, too. Hard baits were hit hard and the plastics were hit, too. It was like the bread and milk shelves in grocery stores when a hurricane is on the way.

ReggieT, Zoom has just released the Medium Brush Hog. I picked up seven of the eight colors at the Zoom distribution center outside of Richmond. Can't wait to use them. They should be showing up in your local tackle shops in the near future.

I was sent a video about using guys sports underwear to make a face mask. Will not post it as it is really not for family viewing. But I thought it was funny, and if I wanted to waste some money I would try it. Would rather spend money on fishing gear. Jedi, I had a St. Christopher's medal blessed by a Parrish priest when I went to Viet Nam for a good luck charm and never took it off until I did when swimming at the University of Richmond indoor pool where I lost it. Got another one and had a Parrish priest in La Rose, Louisiana, bless it for me. The original medal was given to me by one of my Cajun aunts for good luck when I went overseas. I never have taken the second off in over 40 years and it still shines bright gold.

So I unplugged the unit and waited two minutes and plugged it back into the power outlet. And yes, the green light for the starting battery glowed a beautiful green. Thanks to all for your input. Will check her out this morning to make sure that light is still green.

You may be correct. The charger came with the Ranger and it is 17 years old. I have done some research and I like the NOCO Genius GEN3 with the NOCO GCP1 Port Plug Power Inlet. It can charge acid and gel batteries. Thanks for everyone's input. That charger has served me well over the years.

Replaced Interstate Cranking battery with a Delco gel starting battery and the battery charger shows one red light for this new battery. Anyone out there know why this is happening? The new battery was charged up to 15 amps when I purchased it this morning. Thanks for the input.

I saw that show, recently. I knew bull sharks could live in fresh water but did not know they would stay in fresh water. I thought they would head back into the salt water. And to think we fish tidal rivers in Virginia that probably have bull sharks in them. I think that I may have lost a bull shark the last time I was on the Historic James River. As i was reeling in my KVD 1.5 Sexy Shad crankbait something came along like the speed of lightning and took the bait. For all I know the fish is in Chicago by now. I bet it was a bull shark. Can't wait to tell the bass club guys. That will put a stop to jumping into the Historic James River to cool off during July and August.

Well...you could always follow them around to see where they go and mark your map. Don't get close, use binoculars. Otherwise, really nothing you can do other than ban them from you tournaments. I had a friend who passed away and one now who is retired that were banned from tournaments because they kept winning them back in the 80's and 90's. They were very proud to have reached this benchmark in their fishing skills. I know of an individual who supposedly has sunk many brush piles in a creek and only he knows where they are. We have found a few over the years but stopped looking for them and just fish our own way. They guy will either win the tournament or end up in the top 10. That's bass fishing.

For some reason, black and blue jigs seem to work. Black and blue laminate Senkos also can be a fantastic presentation. Why? Who knows. Maybe they look like crabs or bluegills or molting crawfish. All I know is that is a great color selection that can give you the confidence to throw black and blue colored baits after you start catching them on that color.

We get close to the shore, piers, and docks to flip and pitch. But no, I doubt a bear would attack a bass boat. I have had a snake fall out of a tree and into the bushes in front of me. No idea what type it was I did not stay around to introduce myself. An individual could attack a bass boat and that is why I carry on the boat. If you think about it, you are a sitting duck when fishing. Anyone can come up to your boat and pull a gun and take your equipment, if not the boat. Also, being close to Washington, DC with the animal rights groups you can't be too protective in case one of these groups decides to hit the water and attack fishermen. Believe me schplurg, if a bear did attack a bass boat somewhere I am sure everyone will know about it.

My doctor suggested my wife carry bear spray in lieu of pepper spray in her pocketbook for her personal protection. I have not purchased it so far but will in the future on next trip to Bass Pro Shops or Green Top. My pretty blond 5'4" wife also wants to carry. I am not in favor of her carrying but as soon as she takes the carry course she can get a gun. I carry my .38 in the bass boat when I take it out for personal protection. We had a black bear in our neighborhood last year. He did not bother anyone and seems he was just passing through. My grand dog (Aussie) saw him on a walk; I saw him, too; and the neighbor saw him behind their wood pile.

Don't forget that bull sharks can live in freshwater.

Either go with braid tied directly to the Whooper Plopper or go with monofilament as it floats. Upgrade to a medium 6'6" cranking stick, such as the David Fritts Speed Stick. The cranking stick will vibrate when the Whopper Plopper is being reeled in. Sweep your hook set from side to side waist high. Do this for all treble hook baits. Never, never, never allow any slack into your line after you set the hook. Watch the bass hit the Whopper Plopper and wait two seconds and then set the hook. Easier said then done as our reflexes are so fast we set the hook a little too soon. You may want to put some MegaStrike on the Whopper Plopper so the bass will hold onto it a little longer. Good luck.

Crawling on my hands and knees from the Officers Club to my BOQ at Fort Mead is when I swore off booze. Have not had a drink since then, back in 1968. Don't need it and it can mess up your love life, too.

Ask the individuals working their booths to tell you their stories; if they know of any openings in their company; what educational backgrounds are needed; if they know of any openings in other companies; have your one or two page resume with you ready to hand out; dress nicely, like a church service; have a nice haircut; shave off facial hair; always smile; have good breath; be polite; know how to speak English correctly; willing to relocate or travel; show an interest in their products; always say "career" and not "job;" and remember you have only one shot at a first impression. Yes, you can make fun and criticize the above but from an old goat who has been around the block a few times the above items can make or break a career before it gets started. Texas.
