College football started this past Thursday evening. Next game is set for September 3rd on TV.

Jonas, it is beautiful. Just beautiful. Thanks for the picture. Suggestions: 1. Throw an unweighted trick worm (green pumpkin, Junebug, pink, white) on 8-pound mono with a medium heavy spinning rig. Move the trick worm like a snake over the grass and you can let it fall in any holes you want. 2. Throw an unweighted finesse worm with a curly or ribbon tail rigged like the trick worm above. 3. Frogs can do well but you have to know how to set up your frogs and the presentation is crucial to a good hookup. So give your frogs a try. White, black or black/yellow colors. Take two pliers and spread out the hooks a little. Tie directly to the frog with no snap. Use a popping frog or if possible or an Academy Sports H2O frog. Use a heavy rod to be able to set the hook. Count to three before setting the hook, if possible, when the frog gets hit. 4. Toads. Tie a toad onto your 17 pound mono on a medium heavy baitcaster and cast it out and reel it in. Check out the Rage Tail products for other options. 5. Creature baits like brush hogs, lizards, crawfish, etc. and fish them like you did in 1 and 2 above. You may want to use a small 1/8th size lead bullet weight if necessary. With the grass you showed us you need to "call" the bass to your bait by vibration. Once they feel the vibrations they will start looking for it. No treble hooks or spinnerbaits or Chatterbaits. Just throw what you can on top of the grass using monofilament since mono floats. OK guys and gals. It is time to start your countdown to the college football season. In the SEC there are five teams that have a legit shot at the National Championship playoffs. The are, in no specific order: Alabama LSU Auburn Florida Georgia In the ACC there is Clemson, the pride of the conference, and of course, Notre Dame. Any suggestions as to who else can challenge Clemson for a spot in the playoffs representing the ACC? Clemson Notre Dame The Big 12 has two teams that could battle it out for the playoffs. Been watching both storms as I am from New Orleans. None of my friends or relatives are evacuating and now with the storm's projected track they were right in staying. My cousin, who owns an antique store on Royal Street in the Quarter did not even bother to put sand bags by her front and rear doors. We will be getting Laura's rain in Virginia over the weekend which spells disaster for bass fishing tournaments. Let 's hope both storms peter out and do little damage.

You may be correct but I had the original 2020 LSU schedule and our conference games were set in this order: Ole Miss Florida Arkansas Miss. State Alabama South Carolina Auburn A&M I guess with the addition of two SEC teams to the list they had to make it different. I like the rivalry games at the end of the season. LSU's two biggest rivals are Bama and Ole Miss. LSU is starting a love/hate relationship with A&M. And then there is always Arkansas lurking around somewhere. The season will be fun with lots of good games. Hope the Vols can do well and beat Bama.

The virus has nothing to do with the scheduling. The SEC could have retained the usual set of conference ending games with the opponents we are used to seeing play each other like Bama/Auburn, LSU/A&M, Ole Miss/State, etc. But at least the SEC will play. The Big 10 and PAC 12 still have time to change their minds. The guys on Sirius' ESPN's College Sports radio have said that the Big 10 commissioner's son plays for Missysippy State and he is being allowed to play while his father shuts down the Big 10. Go figure.

How come Bamasux doesn't play Awbunn the last game of the season. I always looked forward to that game. And LSU plays Ole Miss as their last game while Tennessee gets Florida. Who came up with this schedule?????? A cup would help, too.

Buck, as a follow up, here is what Stan Cobb from Green Top penned yesterday about Kerr: "Kerr Lake elevation is 301 feet. The lake seems to be dropping slightly now. Bass and Crappie both are being found visiting brush piles. Many of the more productive brush piles for both species have been in 12 to 20 feet of water" Also, visit this Internet site to get the lake level. 300 is average. 303 and up the water is in the bushes. Good luck. Be safe. And hit those bushes!!!!! Yes, Carolina rigs are great. Senkos and jigs work, too. In the morning try your luck with topwaters like a buzzbait or Whooper Plopper. Poppers can work as will frogs. Just depends on their mood.

I remember hearing something about people receiving packages of flower seeds from China but I don't remember the reason they are being sent to us in the good ole USA. Can anyone help me with this situation and let me know what you know about this? My wife says the seeds are dangerous or poisonous or will grow like weeds and take over an area. She will not let me open the small package or throw them on the lawns of the people I don't like. Thanks for your responses. Sincerely appreciate all of them.

Buck, the bass are going deep due to the hot weather. However, with all the rain we have had the past two weeks they will head for the newly flooded shoreline and go "in the bushes" as best they can. Hit Eastland and fish all of the bushes and docks you can find for starters. Good luck.

I would suggest dynamite for starters. Then follow up with electrical wires in the water and shock the areas a few times. If you think there are any bull sharks in the water you can throw the Woody for some great action with a lot of noise. A casting net thrown from the bank can produce good results. And don't forget those Louisiana style crab nets with some turkey necks soaked in bacon grease overnight. They will attract all types of water critters including alligators, gars and water moccasins. Tom, a parents nightmare has struck you and your family. I am so sorry for your loss. Your son was too young to leave us. I always worried when my son, Scott, and his friends went out on weekends and then when he went away to college. God was watching over him a few times and he now has two beautiful children and I now worry about those two kids. I sincerely hope you and your family can cope with the loss and keep his memory alive.
