Check for both the BASS and FLW federations and contact them for a listing of their bass clubs in your area. Do as Swbass15 suggests plus learn where the ramps are located. Yes, sounds dumb but finding the ramp can be a challenge. So do some recon during the day and find the ramps prior to any tournaments and know how to get there. Use your GPS to get home, which can be a challenge, too. Google both BASS and FLW Ohio Bass Federations and then contact each. I checked out the Ohio clubs listed under Bass Clubs and you can Google them to get their contact information as part of your research. Good luck.

If you can fish as the front moves through your area you will have a successful adventure as the bass will be feeding. The next day, with a rise in barometric pressure and blue bird skies plus full bellies, the fishing will be difficult. So yes, one of the best days of my life was fishing as the front moved through. Not one of the smartest days of my life, but one of the most successful. Won't do that again.

So golf courses that want to keep their ponds clean and fresh to avoid customer complaints will have different species of fish in their major ponds. Not all ponds, but the major ones. Pond management companies are hired to keep the ponds in good condition and now many golf courses send their head groundsman to seminars on how to keep their ponds clean and add to the beauty of the course. Border Collies are purchased to chase the geese away, too, as we all know geese are dirty animals. And a highly trained Border Collie can cost upwards of $2,500 and higher.

Let the drought end and the James go back to its correct level. As stated above, Watkins Landing to the west is very difficult to transverse. Watkins Landing to the east towards Bosher's Dam is easier to fish and has some good water. If you have a buddy you can double up and do the following for some great fishing. By the numbers: 1. Drive to the Pony Pasture and drop one of the cars off in the parking lot. 2. Drive west along River Road and go under the Huguenot River Bridge over the Historic James River and go to the right when the road dead ends, towards the river. Unload your kayaks at Huguenot Flatwater ramp and go fishing either from Flatwater down to the Z-Dam where you porage across it on the northern bank and then down to the Pony Pasture where there are a lot of rocks or....head up river towards Bosher's' Dam and fish to and from Bosher's Dam to Flatwater or the Pony Pasture. 3. If you are in the Pony Pasture area, you can paddle to the southern bank and one guy holds the kayaks while the second guy walks out of the river and onto River Road. 4. Get car from Pony Pasture parking lot and drive along River Road to where your buddy is holding the kayaks and load them on your cars. Be ready to give finger to those people who yell at you for blocking the road. 5. Go home with some fun memories. The area between Flatwater and the Pony Pasture is one of the best kept secrets in Richmond fishing. If you want, you can catch your fill or bass and bluegills, etc. and use them for catfish bait at the Pony Pasture. Big catfish at the Pony Pasture and they are friendly. Have fun; wear your PFD; always go with a friend when fishing the Historic James River; and let us know how you do and if the police show up when you are loading your kayaks back onto the car at the Pony Pasture.

Two weeks ago while visiting my son and his family in Delaware I visited with the golf pro at the adjacent golf course and got his permission to fish the ponds. Yesterday, October 15, I reckoned the course and found two fantastic ponds. Really beautiful bodies of water. Lots of grass, a bulkhead, and you can easily access them from the bank. So today while my son was getting the two kids ready for school I snuck out and went to the golf course and fished the large pond. Caught 9, with the largest around 3 pounds; two around 2 pounds; and the four others were a pound or less all within an hour and a half. I missed at least ten which I thought were the dinks until I landed one of the two pounders. Really surprised me until I realized that they were not hitting the Yum stick baits hard. In fact, I had to always watch my line to see it go to the left or right very slowly and then set the hook. Rain is headed this way this afternoon and tomorrow may not be a good day to hit the ponds after the rain passes through but I think I will go back and try my luck at the second pond I found in the rear of the course. All they wanted were Junebug and Green Pumpkin Yum sticks. No crankbaits and no spinnerbaits. All on the bottom, too. At least I got in one day of fun fishing in Delaware.

Wife asked her pain medicine doctor about this stuff and he said it did not work and to forget it. He wrote the Virginia law on opioid addiction and he lectures all over the USA and Europe so I believe he knows what he is talking about. Just my two cents. Check out what my wife's pain doctor told her in the post on page 3 of this thread. He is not sold on it as of now and told her to avoid taking the substance.

Fantastic report, Koz. I remember that sound an alligator makes when I was growing up in south Louisiana and we floated too close to a gator's nest. Never saw the females but they let you know they were there. And yes, never, never feed them, although they do like the big, fluffy marshmallows. if you do, you have a companion for the rest of the day that will follow you wherever you go. Just remember those famous words of my uncle that he told all of his nephews: "What does a snake and a leaky condom have in common? You don't ******** with either." Same applies to alligators. And by the way, I was told that an alligator can hit 30 MPH on land. Although I never have seen a gator go that fast it is faster than I can run. And gators can be defeated by LSU Fighting Tigers if you have any in the area!!!!

We see "gray" LMB in the spring when they come up from the depths to spawn but never this time of the year. To be honest, I have no idea other than what the guys above have offered.

Vomited and got sweaty. Wife thought I was having a heart attack.

Woke up around 10:30 the evening of October 7th with my head spinning. I crawled on my knees from the bedroom tomy wife's quilt room to tell her I had a problem. She freaked and said I was going to the hospital. Smart lady. My head was spinning all that time. So I actually crawled to the stairs, went down them on my fanny, threw up while going down the stairs, and then crawled to the garage and into the car. Wife had called our primary physician and he told her to take me to the emergency room at a local hospital and he would call them to let them know we were on our way. When we got to the emergency room and a police officer had a wheelchair ready for me. All Richmond area hospitals have a police officer assigned to them. He was a very nice guy and he wheeled me into the waiting area. The receptionist called to the back area and two nurses came out and took me into the holding area where they put me in a bed and started an IV. A hospital doctor came out and said she ordered a CAT Scan, which I had, and then up to my hospital room. Drawing blood, new meds, shots in the stomach became a normal activity. Had the MRI this morning at 4:30 AM and then back to bed. My doctor arrived at my room around 9:00 and told me all tests were negative. No heart attack, no stroke, no blockage anywhere. But it was vertigo. And it was an inner ear problem. He explained about the crystals touching the silica in the ear causing the problem. So he put me on antivert and sent me home. Feel much better now but no bass fishing on a boat as I still lose my balance. I have to go to a special PT for balance. After I get control of my balance I can take the boat out. So if you have any eye problems, which I had for over six months, please see your doctor as that is the start of vertigo in many cases. Eye flicker and loss of balance is the start. So be careful

So did you fish up by the dam the entire time? Some really good creeks along the Chick. Let us know what you did, etc. But don't fret, a bunch of guys fishing the Virginia BASS Federation Nation Fall Classic did good on Saturday and had a difficult time on Sunday. Go figure????

It's rough to be a professional bass fisherman. I know the people who operate the local Zoom warehouse and distribution center outside of Richmond and they have the pros call them up when they are fishing tournaments on the Historic James River, etc., to make sure they can go by and get the plastics they will be throwing. Sleeping in motel rooms; worrying about your boat, motor and tackle; eating fast food; getting food and drinks plus ice ready for the boat the night before the tournament; making sure the batteries are charged; getting oil and gas; watching the weather for cold fronts, wind, and rain; and lots of other things you have to do to get ready for a tournament and it is a lot of hard work. And then to be outsmarted by those little green monsters adds to the stress. When I fish tournaments it takes me almost a day to get the boat ready and the tackle organized, with the hope that I got the baits right. I used to fly up and down the east coast on business until one day I realized that flying is not fun. It is a pain and I am so happy I cut it out of my life. Same with being a pro. The come and go with the tournament stress guiding them and their futures.

On Lake Gaston in Virginia this past September 28th we caught spotted bass on Senkos and trick worms.
