Tom, so sorry to read about your son's condition. Sending good thoughts and prayers for a successful treatment. We are all behind you and your family during this crisis.- CHANGING BATTERY 2015 SILVERADO/YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING
Yep. Service charges. You are 100% correct.- Free Aussie
As a follow up, Rudy and Dixie did not get along as Dixie was very territorial and aggressive to Rudy so I got a call to pick him up. I contacted #2 on my list as they have 3 acres and have sheep. But they called me on a Friday to come and get him as he was nipping at the adults while protecting the three year old. I took Rudy to a beautiful 20 acre estate where there were sheep, black angus, and chickens. He was in heaven when he got out of the car. He looked towards the fence where about 60 sheep were standing and looking at him. He started his "secret crawl" towards them, took off running, and ran directly into the fence. He was OK but seemed to be wondering what a fence is. They will teach Rudy to herd the sheep. Hopefully Rudy will live out his days on this estate in northwest Virginia doing what Aussies are supposed to do. And yes, I miss him. But it is better for him to be on a farm than in a city.- Great day in football
Boink! Nicest sound I have heard at a football game since Auburn did the same thing when LSU won the game in Tiger Stadium a number of years ago. We went wild in the stands. For some reason, Saban does not think kickers are a very important part of the game. When my son attended Alabama (LSU was too close to New Orleans for my wife) he wanted to try out for kicking duties on the Alabama football team since he played soccer and could kick the ball better than the Bama kickers. I told him that at 5'`11" and 160 pounds he really needed to rethink that decision. He did and had more fun in the stands that year. Boink! And in the immortal words of coach Eaux.....Geaux Tigers! Myles TD pass was fantastic. And it was great to see the team including Burrow without his helmet, run down to the end zone to congratulate McMath and Brennan on the 58-yard TD pass. Now "Breakfast at Brennan's" in the Quarter means something. P.S. NCAA rules may have been the reason Joe did not wear his Cajun jersey during the game. Anyone out there know the NCAA rules on players names on jerseys??? It is my opinion that Joe does not fool around and is a very serious football player who did not need to be a show off and wear that Cajun jersey for the game. No reason to insult your opponent. I bet someone will start selling them real soon. And in the immortal words of Coach Eaux, Geaux Tigers!- Hampton, VA
Use WAZE on your cell phone to avoid the state and local law enforcement plus accidents and congestion. Glad you are visiting with us. Lots of history around Jamestown, Yorktown, Norfolk, etc. And you can see the Historic James River, too!!!!! Have a great time and thanks to your son for his service.- Hampton, VA
Being from Indy and knowing about how fast the machines go in the 500 you will do on I-64!!! Welcome to Virginia.- Richmond Virginia Bass Club Accepting New Members

- Big O advice
Have a safe trip, Richard. Let's plan to get together for lunch or dinner after the first of the year. POST PICS OF WHAT YOU CATCH!- VA Beach Bass
Welcome, WPS. Wonderful having you with us. May I suggest driving to your local Dick's or the Hampton BPS off of I-64 and pick up a free copy of the Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries 2019 or 2020 Freshwater Fishing in Virginia booklet? You will find a listing of the various places to fish in the Tidewater area plus other places in Virginia, like Ed. Allen's on the Chick Lake or Diascund Reservoir off Route 60, the three or four places on the Chick River where you can launch your kayak and a lot more information. Visit Hookers and Fishing Pro Tech in Toano and ask the guys for other suggestions, too. Then make plans to drive to the Richmond Fishing Expo this January and meet and greet the guys and gals manning the booths and find more places to fish, like the Suffolk lakes and Newport News Reservoir. You can also try your luck in the pond behind the BPS store off I-64. If GMCO maps is at the Expo get a copy of their Virginia maps for Tidewater and the Historic James River. Here is the link: https://www.richmondfishingexpo.com/ Looking forward to reading about your exploits in 2020.- Fletcher Shryock taking shots at BASS
"Don't burn your bridges." Life is funny and you never know when you will need to return to what you left.- Going Fast
A few times I would actually forget how fast I was going as I looked at the birds, the shoreline, other boats, for things floating in the water, etc., and then looked at my GPS speed which was clocking in the 60's. This can happen when you have calm water and a hot foot and are enjoying a beautiful day. Otherwise, I keep the boat at a peak 50 MPH when needed, like in a tournament or as stated above, I just want to go fast for the heck of it. I have gone over 70 in my friend's Ranger on a calm day on the Chickahominy River and never knew how fast we were going until he told me to look at his GPS for our MPH. Major problem is that things happen very fast on the water and going fast for no apparent reason puts you and others in peril.- Favorite shakey head?
Marc, you mean shakey head jig head? If so, here is what a lot of pros use but keep it to themselves: http://providertackle.com/store/ You can get them from Provider or Tackle Express. Marc, if you mean shakey head plastic, I like the Zoom Trick Worms. Experiment and then go with the ones you have the most confidence. Good luck and welcome to the Forum. Please let us know where you live and fish on your Avatar so we can give you better information.- I’m back after 20 years
Great having you with us. Keep us posted on your catches. Welcome.- How often do you replace fishing line ?
Tournaments - Fresh line on all reels at start of season. Replace line for new tournaments. Will keep braid on reels if no nicks or cuts or blemishes are found when checking the line. Fun Fishing Setups - Leave it on all year until I use it up Reel Storage - Remove all line, including braid, and take pressure off spool and drag- Bass and crappie fishing locations in Richmond/Central Virginia
Don't forget to update your Avatar with your location so we can give you better suggestions. Do the following with your son next time you go out, remembering that he will have the concentration of a gnat and at his age he needs some fishing action. Look up Westminster-Canterbury, 804/256-2092, 804/264-8000 and ask the operator for security or who you can speak with to get permission to fish their pond. If they say "no" let me know by personal message and I will ask my friend to give the gate guard your name so you can get into the place. Google Westminster-Canterbury Richmond to see the place. 1. Buy a loaf or two of cheap white bread the day you go fishing. 2. Rig up a Zebco or a cane pole with a small gold with a long shank hook and a small red/white bobber. 4 to 6 pound test is fine. 3. Bring needle nose pliers with you to remove the hooks. 4. Follow the road around the complex and note the pond on your right and park in the last parking lot and walk to the pond. Fish off the gazebo. 5. Roll a small piece of white bread onto your hooks and drop the rig straight down into the water. 6. The bluegills and bream will crush it. 7. After catching about 100 or so you can go home. You can actually watch the small piece of dough be knocked around before it disappears into a bluegill's mouth. 8. Bring iPhone to take photos. 9. Clean up after yourself and throw all the fish back. 10. Bring snacks and bottled water. 11. Throw any remaining bread to the ducks or tear it up and throw it on the water so your son can see a bluegill feeding frenzy. 12. On way home go to Mission Bar-B-Q and have a fun late lunch or early dinner. Go on Google and look up Westminster-Canterbury, 1600 Westbrook Avenue, Richmond, and you will see the pond and where to park You go past the pond on your right to the parking lot. Do not speed as the limit is 15 MPH. As for bass in this pond all I have caught have been dinks. But the bluegill and bream population is outstanding. Google will not let me post the pics so you will have to check it out on your own. Have fun and post pictures. As for bass in this pond, all I have caught have been dinks. But the bluegill and bream population is outstanding.- Bass and crappie fishing locations in Richmond/Central Virginia
Tony, I have never stopped to fish this pond off Luck's Lane but I have read on this Forum of some guys who caught some dinks out of it. Sorry, I am totally of no help on this pond.- Shiner Fishing in Florida
Fished the Disney waters with a Disney guide and we used live shiners. A strike on almost every cast. Son nailed a 4.5 nice lady. Grandson had fun reeling them in although he would not touch them. I vote for shiners for fun.- CHEAP BASS LURES THAT WORK
Hold onto your pennies, nickels and dimes. The sales will start after Thanksgiving and go through January. You can get some good baits at good prices after Thanksgiving. You do not reflect where you live in your Avatar so we can't give you any input on local fishing expos this winter. Try to find them on the Internet and go to one if it is close to your home. And please add your location to your avatar so we can give you better input. As an example, check out this Richmond Fishing Expo site to give you an idea of what to look for in your neck of the woods: https://www.richmondfishingexpo.com/ So many baits to choose from you could actually go nuts. Walmart. Check out Walmart. They have some very good baits at good prices. And they put fishing baits on sale, too. And Dick's. Dick's starts expensive but now and then they mess up and reduce a good bait's price. Look at the sales bins at a Bass Pro Shop if you can get to one. Academy has fantastic baits. I love their H2O frogs. Best ones out there. As for what baits that work? They all work, sooner or later. But since we have no idea if you are in Florida, California, North Dakota, New York, North Carolina, etc. we really can't laser in on any one specific bait. But I can suggest going with YUM Dinger stick baits as opposed to Senkos. They are inexpensive and work great. Rig them Wacky and start flipping, flipping and casting. Look for Bandits in place of Strike King for crankbaits. Seek out baits made by local guys that are less expensive than the manufacturer brands. In fact, in Virginia there is a guy who makes a buzzbait to die for. It is the best buzzbait I have ever thrown. Even better than my Cavitrons. So look for inexpensive homemade baits in your favorite local tackle store. Now start saving those pennies, dimes and nickels and get ready to do battle at your favorite tackle store starting Friday, November 29th. Get up early and be there when the store opens. Do some recon first, if possible, the day before or a few days before the sale begins. And of course, I don't do this, but when you do your recon and you find some baits you want, hide them in the store the day before the sale starts. You can then get them and be ready to stand in line for an hour to check out. Tell your parents and relatives that you have enough underwear and to give you tackle store gift certificates or money for Christmas. Let us know what you get AFTER YOU TELL US WHERE YOU LIVE so we can give you better input. Have Fun!- Topwaters, which ones and what retrieves?
Buzzbaits when their is some chop on the surface. Whopper Ploppes when the surface is smooth. Poppers all the time. Frogs in pads and grass and around cover. Toads around grass and pads. And the fish will let you know what they want.- LSU-Ole Miss Football Game
I vote for Eli as the most exciting player. Although you have to admit that the most important play in the history of the LSU-Ole Miss football game good ole Eli fell on his behind. P.S. I also was in Tiger Stadium when Eli took the Fighting Tigers apart so everything evens out.- Vertigo Attack
Yes, you are correct. The PT lady told me that there were different types of causes of vertigo. One is the crystals getting into the siica and the Epley maneuver will correct it. The second is an imbalance between the fluid in each year. The third is a migraine that you never know you have. The Epley maneuver does not work; nothing to do with the fluid until the tests are finished; and I am taking two Tylenol a day. Tests scheduled for December 5th unless I can move them up. Thanks for the input. Sincerely appreciate it.- Should I go fishing this week?
TriState, you know the difference between water temperature and air temperature, and that it takes a lot of heat or cold to have an impact on water temperature vs. air temperature. So invest an hour of your life to check out your pond. And consider giving yourself a swimming pool thermometer for Christmas so you can put a cord on it and throw it into the pond to check out its temperature. Let us know what you do.- Casting
