Yep. Cajun grandmother taught me to be superstitious since I was a young child. When I am watching a sporting event and my team is doing well, I will not move or change positions until they screw up. Used to get dressed for high school sports in a certain manner. Had to touch home plate when I played on church's softball team going in and out of the field. Have to have certain brand name items for specific bodies of water including rods, reels, baits and presentations. Crazy? Yes. Does it work? Every time. Will I keep doing it? Of course. Seacow, I have two favorite crankbaits that seem to work better than my other crankbaits. I am very careful when I use them.

A high tide falling is the best and the first hour of an incoming tide is good, too. Be safe and be sure to go to the back of Diascund Creek by the railroad bridge and fish it all the way back to the Chick hitting all docks and piers. Be careful as the DG&IF will set up speed traps and give you a ticket if you are going too fast.

Tidal is great. Easy to learn. You want an outgoing tide. Upper Chippokes is OK if you go back into the creek. Otherwise on weekends it is loaded with tournament guys. Good luck and look up fishing videos on Woo Daves web page, http://woodaves.com/articles_main.htm, they are very good.

For jerkbait eye color, I believe red is for sinking and yellow is for floating. Or is it red for floating and yellow for sinking? For some reason I don't recall. Thanks for the correction.

Mtneer99, where is the Chick River on your list of favorite lake or river? Some of the best fishing in the state is on the Chick River. Also, did you know that some of those big Florida strain bass have made it into Chick Lake? Don't how they got there but they are there. Welcome to the forum. My two-cents: either contact Deleware Tackle and mail it to them or take it to guy who repairs reels in Dalton, Georgia, and have them look at it. The problem could be a number of things and you need to have it checked over by a pro. All we can do is give you guesses.

Right. I was taught to use mono for treble hook baits which I do. Flouro and braid for everything else.

Two piece rods are great when you have transportation limitations. I don't like them as the ones I have had in the past have come apart sooner or later while fishing. If you are going to glue the two sections together, use a piece of a wire rod that fits into the holes about two inches from the break and use some very strong epoxy to hold the rod inside both pieces as you put them together. Then use strong tape to wrap the two sections together about three inches in both directions, followed by using rod guide tape to tape over the area at least three inches from where the two pieces have been joined. Or have some fun and buy a new one-piece rod. The Bait Monkey will be forever grateful.

My dermatologist tells me to get sunscreen with zinc oxide in it. You know, the white stuff life guards wear on their face and nose. I got some at Walmart. Neutrogena has it, too. You will look silly wearing it but at least you can be secure in knowing it is the best defense against the sun and skin cancer.

It is touted to do a lot from pain to anxiety to arthritis to whatever ails you. However, I believe more studies must be completed to note the actual impact on your body from using this marijuana plant oil. If it works for you then by all means continue taking it. My wife just had her spine rebuilt at Duke and she is recovering but still having extreme muscle pain after three months of recovery. She is off the opioids and the morphine which is a good sign. So I understand what you are going through. All the best to find some relief so you can fish every day for the rest of your life!

Think big. Go for that 24 volt trolling motor. You will not regret it. Have a three bank battery charger for all three batteries. Black absorbs sunlight so if you get a boat painted black anywhere you will get burned while fishing in the summer when you touch those areas. Keep some money for cushions, electronics, necessary and required by law boating equipment, and if possible, have the trolling motor pedestal in its tray and out of the way. Get a powerful thrust trolling motor, like 80+ pounds. Get the largest motor the boat is rated for and can handle. Put a pipe cleaner in the pee hole to keep the bugs out of it while in storage. Check the prop and get one that fits your type of fishing. Props are expensive so you can use the one that comes with the boat but think of upgrading to stainless steel prop in the future. Find out if the prop is aluminium or steel. Add an Oxygenator to your live well. Be sure the boat has the storage space you need, especially for food and drinks in cold storage. Go for a pedestal front seat. Add a back pedestal seat if you want. Good luck and have fun picking out your bass boat. Let us know what you get and what features are on the boat.

Good post. Let us know how you do. Keep the pictures for future reference when the pond is full. I remember a drought in Central Virginia about 10 to 15 years ago and Lake Chesdin's water level went way down. You could actually walk across the lake in a number of places. A friend took photos of the bottom and you know what he found? He found a large area full of tree stumps that we pass over with our boats all the time. No one had any idea there were that many tree stumps in the area and how fortunate we were not to have hit them. We now avoid that part of the lake unless we are fishing those stumps. I have a photo of the submerged wood pile in my double secret pond that I refer to now that the pond is over flowing with water. Great reference photo. Good luck with the pond.

Don't be afraid to give the fish some line to swim away. If you are hung up and will lose the bass anyway, what do you have to lose? Will not be successful every time but I do believe you will have more catches then by fighting the snag. I did this on the upper Historic James River two weeks ago when the bass was behind a stump and the line was snagged. By giving slack to the line he swam away from the stump and the line came lose.
