The Power of the Drop-Shot...
Check out Basspro48's drop shot post. The main problem is that you will want to fish the drop shot rig and forgo the other presentations which will mean you will not perfect the other baits and techniques. Give it a try with an *** worm or a bait that wiggles a lot.

KVD's Proven Spinnerbait Techniques dvd
The three DVD set us a great buy. KVD's spinnerbait DVD is excellent. And you made the Bait Monkey happy by adding the Curado.

Adapting the drop-shot rig to all situations
Sorry, but I rig it with an *** or Slider worm and throw it out like a Texas rig and bring it back to boat or shore. Lots of fun to fish. Caught two ladies over six-pounds last week at a private pond in Dinwiddie on drop-shot and then stopped using it as I thought it was unfair to the fish. Great rig to use all year long. Thanks for the post, Basspro48.

Spider bites
My son got bit last month by a brown recluse and he ended up in the emergency room. His ankle swelled and he had a very nasty red rash. The doctor put him on strong medication and the bite finally went away after thirty (30) days. A spider bite is nothing to fool around with so get to a doctor if you have get a red rash. :-X

flourocarbon line snppping on hook set!!!!!!
Are you "burning" the line when tieing the knot? If the line is "burned" it will snap above the hook. So if the line is "twisty" and not straight after you tighten the knot then retie again and try not to "burn" the line.

Fishing in fredericksburg
Please obtain a copy of the Virginia Departmente of Game and Inland Fisheries "Freshwater Fishing in Virginia" for places to fish in your area. Fort A.P. Hill has ponds and the license fee is only $20 a year. The military complex is on Route 301 in Caroline County and is an easy drive from Fredericksburg. Up at Quantico Marine Base there are places to fish so check out the base or contact "Rondef" on this site for more details. Check out a local map of the city for ponds in office parks and apartment complexes, too. Be sure to have your Virginia fishing license with you when you go fishing. South of you is Bass Pro Shop, Green Top and Gander Mountain plus you have a Gander Mountain on Route 3 heading west. So ask the guys at your Gander Mountain for suggestions for bank fishing. Both Stafford and Spottsy Counties Parks and Rec departments may be able to give you some places to fish, too. Let us know where you go and how you do.

Feeding Catfish
While at my friend's private farm pond last week he came by in his truck and said he was going to feed the catfish as it was something to see. So he got out a bag of Aqua Pellets Catfish Food and started spreading it on the pond's surface. Man, talke about catfish coming from all over the place, even the ones by our feet that we had idea were there. There must have been at least two dozen beautiful Channel Catfish hitting the pellets in a feeding frenzy. Fins, splashes, wide heads and mouths sucking up the pellets like a vacuum cleaner. And no matter what we threw at them, Senkos, plastics, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, etc., they would not even look at the lures. Their minds were on the pellets. Lots of fun watching them feed. Another farmer was with us and he has a friend with a farm pond who has a metal pipe in the pond by his dock and when he hits the metal pipe with his pocket knife the catfish come running as they know he is going to feed them. I think I will try to find the Aqua Pellets and try feeding the catfish at some of my local ponds. And the catfish kept playing around in the pond for at leat an hour after they were fed. They would not hit any baits; just playing in the shallows and the middle of the pond trying to find a pellet or two. There were some B-I-G cats in the pond and I will try to catch them on my next visit.

Slow day that ended with a great story
Now that is a beautiful lady. Great catch. Good report. Thanks for sharing and the super pics. ;D

They started draining my honey hole EARLY!!!! :'(
Save as many as you can. Take photos of the drained pond so when they fill it up you will have the information to fish it in the future. Consider stocking it yourself.

Bottle or Can?
You can reseal a bottle and put it down without worrying about it being turned on its side. Actually, I think most bottles today are plastic.

Greentop
Don't you all forget Castaways, too. Great selection of Zoom baits.

NBC's Heroes
Hey Burley, How about saving a little Playboy Bunny from the mansion??? ;D

This is gonna sound stupid but what is a split shot rig??
Rooster, If you can find Carolina Keepers you can slide them on your line below the weight and then be able to move your weight up and down the line without any line stress or crimping. Woo Daves used to sell them at the Richmond Bassarama so you may want to check out his web site. Great way to set up a Carolina rig, too, as long as you don't use a very heavy weight.

guess i still know how
Nice catch. I wonder if you would attract more strikes with a smaller presentation?

Good afternoon everyone...
Welcome. Western Massachusetts? I did not think the state was big enough to have a "western" tag. ;D Just kidding. We do kid with each other on this site. So glad you are with us and we look forward to your posts and replies and see some pics of your lunkers. Hopefully your son will gain some knowledge and hit that six-pound goal.

Wrecked my boat :(
Sanderson's down in Hopewell or Cooper's near the new Bass Pro Shop off Lewistown Road for your motor. Pop's Marine outside of Williamsburg in Toano is another place. Sanderson's is the place most guys go although I go to Jerry Cooper. As for up your way, can you find a local dealer in your area that sells and services your motor's brand? What brand is your motor?

Close Call Tonight
Dogs are a part of a family. It is a sad day when you realize that their life span is ending and that you have to do what is right for the dog and not yourselves. I had my mixed Irsh setter put down in 1988 and I still have her ashes in a jar in my home office. She had been having small strokes and one morning we found her in the living room, not able to move. I was with her when she went to dog heaven at the vet's office. Sometimes we have to do do things that are not pleasant for the animal's best interest. My sincere condolenses to all who have to go through this emotional experience.
