WHY PARENTS DRINK A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see that his bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then he saw an envelope, propped up prominently on the pillow that was addressed to 'Dad.' With the worst premonition he opened the envelope with trembling hands and read the letter. Dear Dad: It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you. I have been finding real passion with Stacy and she is so nice. But I knew you would not approve of her because of all her piercings, tattoos, tight motorcycle clothes and the fact that she is much older than I am. But it's not only the passion...Dad she's pregnant. Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children. Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for ourselves and trading it with the other people that live nearby for cocaine and ecstasy. In the meantime we will pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Stacy can get better. She deserves it. Don't worry Dad. I'm 15 and I know how to take care of myself. I guess you found a Trooper that was trying to impress you guys with his power of law enforcement. Just a demonstration of what he can do when he feels like it. When things like this happen it throws suspicion and a lack of trust on all law enforcement officers, who are 99.9% wonderful when you need them. I have never encountered an unporfessional law enforcement officer although the county next to my city, Chesterfield County, Virginia, has a reputation of having some very unprofessional officers who hassel citizens. May I suggust looking at the silver lining? You avoided a future ticket, a court date and loss of money by removing the illegal tint. You also are to be proud that the tint is the only thing he found wrong with your truck. The Trooper may have wanted to put some fear and concern into the guys that Troopers are very powerful people so you need to do your jobs correctly, which we would expect, anyway. This is an early wake-up call and it looks like you passed the Trooper's test with flying colors. Congrats!!!

I am looking at going to friend's pond in Dinwiddie County next week. The fish are beautiful and I caught two 5 pounders last time plus many over 2.5 pounds. With the rain we have been receiving the water will be higher and cooler so the fishing should be great.

Ron and Simon, Don't forget the big tournament out of Leesylvania on Saturday. Over 200 boats are expected. We have our club tournament out of Hope Springs on Sunday. With you two guys fishing and over 200 boats on the Potomac I sure hope there are some bass around for me to catch.

Arbogast Mudbugs. I was thinking about opening a tackle store that sells discontinued lures and other fishing products when I retire. Then I remembered that retail sucks. But it was a fun idea while it lasted.

I hope the fall brings more rain to Central Virginia so the ponds and rivers will be good for fishing. The Pamunkey and Potomac are super in the fall and I am looking forward to some cooler water to have the fish start to move. But, with that said, once the temperature gets below 70* it is cold to me and I hate cold weather. >

So its the water that dulls the blades. And I thought I was a macho man! ;D

Went to local private lake and fished off friend's pontoon boat and nailed six but they were all dinks. The big ones are up lake near the pipe and I plan to visit the guy who lives by the pipe and see if I can fish the pipe. My friend got a five-pounder off the pipe last week before the storm hit us plus two three-pounders. I just got to get to that pipe! I guess you are our Russ Limbaugh of fishing - Catching all the fish with one hand tied behind your back! ;D Little Jason arrived, yet?

OK, so they lost one game. So did the other half of the league. OK, so the defense was not stellar. OK, so the offense did not click. Just give 'em some time. Jamarcus is a wonderful product loaded with potential and he will carry the Raiders back to glory. I am not saying when this will happen, but it will happen. Maybe.

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Between Christmas and New Years. Dead times of the year for fishing due to the holidays and the need to keep the wife happy with chores, setting up for gatherings, shopping, etc. Hope the surgery is not major.

And don't forget to consider putting some chartreuse on their tails if necessary. As for the sex of the bluegills, if you are having trouble considering either male or female, go with the gay ones. ;D ;D ;D

Not only do you have a wonderful story you have your Christmas card setup ready to go. Wow. Six years old and doing what he does is outstanding. I take a seven year old heathen fishing and he is a disaster. And his 10-year old brother is a little better. Keep those stories and pics coming.

Please start a club at your school. It is expensive and you will need boats but you will reallyl enjoy yourself and you will meet a lot of nice guys from many schools. I would think even the Auburn fishing club members would act like gentlemen at fishing tournaments, unlike their behavior at the football games. Especially when they lose!

There are no nerds bass fishing. There are no nerds in SEC country. We are all alike and enjoy our sport. OK, the only exception is Toolame students, alumni and fans. Otherwise, there are no nerds in bass fishing.

Thanks for all the information Sam. But your answers bring up one more question. Would it be better to fish this river when the tide is coming in, going out or when it's slack tide???? Falling tide as the fish will come out of the creeks and other hiding places. At least that is the way we like to fish in Virginia.

I use a baitcaster for treble hook baits along with mono line. You can always use spinning tackle but I like the power of the baitcaster for topwaters.

Get a dog's toe nail cutter to cut braid.

This game could get ugly unless Ohio State plays better than they did against Ohio. OK, this was Ohio's big game and just another pesky opponent for Ohio State. The Buckeyes will be focused for this game and the defense should play well to keep them in the game. It is the offense that seems to be a problem without Bennie. I see USC winning the game and the press going bonkers over them and annointing them the BCS Champs after the OSU game. Beenie's injury may be severe and he may not play until the later part of the season, if at all.

I hit Lake Cheyenne today and caught five in an hour and a half. No size. All dinks. All on a pumpkinseed with black flake four-inch Senko. Lost about 10 others that would take the bait and then drop it. Caught them about 30 feet off shore on a drop-off. Glad you got so many nice ones. And yes, they can get active and move around after it rains and the pond levels rise. You just have to find them.

Baitcasters - Right handed. Spinning reels - Left Handed. Go figure. ;D

I use mono to hold up fence around favorite tree to keep deer away. Also use mono to hold up Halloweed and Christmas stuff on walls and windows. Mono is cheap. Fly line is not cheap. I guess she owes you in return if you play your cards right.
