Sometimes You Just Have To Laugh
Wow! A new backlash record. How in the world did that happen? Did you hit a tree branch or a shrub when casting? Do you have a knitting needle to help get it out? They work great. Let us know. Thanks.

Check Out Hurricane Season in Everything Else Section
Here is an 8:30 AM, Sunday, September 9th release from a Navy meteorologist. All in North Carolina and Virginia please keep an eye on this storm. It could be very devastating. And check out Hurricane Season is Here in Everything Else for follow ups and new posts. All be safe. UPDATE on FLORENCE- It is very likely that FLORENCE will make landfall somewhere along the coast of SC and NC on Thursday-Friday September 13-14. During that time, it may slow and stall along the coast or just inland. If this happens, very heavy rain across NC and most of VA will occur. Initial forecasts for NC-VA show anywhere from 15-25 inches of rain through Monday the 17th. This would cause widespread devastating flooding. In addition, it may be a strong category 3 or category 4 hurricane. Isolated tornadoes will be another danger. Next update Monday morning.

Hurricane Season has Arrived
1245 am Sunday, September 9, 2018 update THE DAILY DTs https://www.wxrisk.com/the-daily-dts/ A few hrs ago all of the Hurricane models ..many of which HAD been showing either a coastal track or stall just off the coast, have now turned 180 degrees and moved towards the European model showing a hit in southeastern NC near or close to Wilmington NC. ... The New 0z GFS has come in and that model is so messed up that its new solution is actually meteorologically IMPOSSIBLE.

Hurricane Season has Arrived
Sorry Darren, we will be hit hard. Everyone please note what Dave put out this Friday evening and remember Dave is usually 100% correct. Although the video is about 12 minutes it is worth the time. Think about going to the grocery store now to avoid the crowds and start making plans if you are west of I-95 in Virginia and eastern and central North and South Carolina. Be sure to let us know what happens next week in your area and I will continue to post Dave's updates if they are helpful.

Organizing tournament tackle
Since I know what baits I want to throw during the day, I put them in a separate tackle box, along with their terminal tackle, so I will have them ready to go. Of course, I take other baits just in case nothing hits the ones I selected for the day.

Hurricane Season has Arrived
From a Navy meteorologist the evening of Friday, September 7th: For anyone in on the east coast, especially NC to NY need to keep track on Florence. This morning's long range forecast has again shifted to making a possible landfall into NC early Thursday. I expect by Sunday morning, we will have a good guess on where the track will be. Until then, expect continued variances in the forecast track. I don't remember the hurricane but I do remember the guy at the mouth of the Mississippi River broadcasting from his weather station back to the New Orleans radio station. I remember him being asked how fast the wind was blowing. His reply was sensational: "I don't know. The wind has blown all of my equipment away."

RIP Burt Reynolds
He and Dom DeLuise teamed up for some great movies. The Best Little......In Texas, with Dolly Parton, is still one of my all time favorites. Still enjoy his body of work.

Do bass exhibit genetic memory?
The literature has information about bass being caught, released, and then finding their way back to the area where they were originally caught. We had such a study posted in the Forums a few years ago so you may be able to find it with the Forum search engine. I read an article about tagging bass after a tournament and a few did head back to their original location, about 13 miles up-lake. Not all bass did this but a few attempted the journey and I believe at least one made it. Maybe the guys and gals on the Forum remember the post.

One of the most fascinating things about fishing.
Slo, I used to feed a snapping turtle in a local pond. I would bring hot dogs or bread and he would see me and come about 20-feet away and I threw the hot dog pieces and bread to him. He never bothered me and I never bothered him. Did watch a young copperhead slither along the pond's bank one day. It disappeared into the tall grass to my right, a place I never visited again.

Hurricane Season has Arrived
Looks like the hurricane went west and spared New Orleans and Louisiana. Hope it dissipates rapidly and does little damage. I think we missed a bullet with this one. Three systems coming off the African coast now so we are not out of the woods, yet.

Skunked bad
Derek, where are you located? Stormy weather would shut down the bite as the storm left your area and you have blue bird skies. Let us know the weather conditions a few days before you fished and the day of your fishing excursion.

Hurricane Season has Arrived
Spoke to my best friend in Kenner and my favorite cousin in Lakeshore (New Orleans by the Lake) and they both are not worried about the storm hitting the New Orleans area and they are not evacuating. Both said it would hit tonight and they would see what happened tomorrow morning. Here is the latest on the storm: Gordon is now 4 MPH from Cat. 1 Hurricane. Landfall is imminent.

One of the most fascinating things about fishing.
Yep. We throw our baits into areas that are totally foreign to us and for which we could not survive. It's like throwing our baits into a black hole and waiting to see what happens. It is Mother Nature at her best. Man, with all of his brain power and technology vs. this small green monster with a brain the size of a pea. Enjoy and relish in it. Nothing like bass fishing in the world.
