  1. I Like him seems like a down to earth guy. He is living the dream most of us only dream about. I think his show is entertaining and has some educational value. I do however feel most shows on tv aren't half as educational as this site. He is a proven fisherman and dosen't really IMO need to show that he can go out on a big lake and catch fish he has already done that. His bloopers video is a riot though I can't beleve anyone could be that much of a clutz. He is good company in my book
  2. Sounds like a winner to me Send it on down
  3. Depending on how much moss there is it varys as to what I use. If there is alot of holes in the moss then I will go weightless and target those holes. If there aren't any holes I use a heavy sinker and punch through the moss and let it sink then raise it back up and just tap the bottom of the moss without breaking back through they usaully hammer it and it's one of my favorite ways for moss.
  4. Skwerl hit it on the head I wouldn't accept anything less than a new moter, I would be to afraid of maybe future problems down the road after the warranty is up. If they value your business it shouldn't be a problem
  5. One of my favorite ways to fish a texas rigged worm is to find some moss (algae) what ever you want to call it and take a heavy enough weight to bust through the moss let it sink to the bottom and sit there for about 5 seconds with the rod tip raise it up and tap the bottom of the moss a few times and let it sink agin. Just repete a couple of time's in different areas of the moss. You will get bit Drive's the bass nuts they think something fell through the moss and is trying to get away so they whack it. Give this a try and let us know how you do. This also works on anykind of matted cover. I usaully use a crawfish imatating bait they love it.
  6. I fish small ponds and lakes so I'm not really geting into the distance issue but I can see your point if I was out on a boat and making longer casts. I have found that the fish in the waters I fish want it at a painfully slow speed and thats why I suggested a lower ratio reel I was thinking about my fishing conditions and that was my mistake. Muddy I'm sorry I couldn't give a good explanation I'm better at reading about something and applying it than I am at explaining something to someone I'm not a good teacher. I have found what makes things like this easier for me is to stay at it untill I find what works and then duplicate it. Really it's Imo something that will come to you and when it does you will think its easy. Don't give up
  7. Well you have to use a slow gear ratio reel 5to1 and just keep it going just enough to keep it moving. Really it's something you have to experiment with it's hard to explain
  8. Was wondering how accurate people was at pitching and how far they can pitch and still be accurate. For me on average I can put a 3/16 oz weight on a paper plate at 30 ft everytime and occasionally hit it a little at 40 but not often I usaully come up short
  9. I have always heard a slow and steady retreive and thats what I have stuck with
  10. Sorry Bro ain't no fish worth that risk. By the way do you know how fast someone thats been thrown over board sinks to the bottom wearing waders. I don't probally because no one has lived to tell. No offense not trying to be mean or anything just hate to see you get hurt or killed
  11. I actually give the senko credit for making me fish plactic's more. I started using them alot at first then expanded to other plastics and found myself doing well. I have been using the C rig alot lately
  12. I'm sorry but I don't think I could resist telling all those who stare that I just got out of the Psych ward and my doctor said fishing would really be benifical to my treatment for my multi personality disorder. But to answer to question of talking while fishing I will when I'm with someone but do prefer to stay quiet when with a couple of people so I can stay focused on catching more than them and do when I'm by myself.
  13. Thanks for the help guys I really think that learning to use maps will really be key in becoming a better fisherman and to be honest it's something new to me and has sparked a whole another chapter in fishing for me
  14. Would anybody mind helping me read this map I don't have any experiance with these sort of maps and could really use some pointers. From just looking at it, there appears to be a river channel there obviously since they dammed a river and I see some road beds as well along with some fish attractors there too. I am really confused as to what the numbers are that are on it. Sorry for a dumb question I have just never had to use a lake map before and will be fishing this lake a couple times this summer.http://www.bassfishingweekly.com/ohiolakemaps/East%20Fork.pdf
  15. I usually catch bass that range in the Two to four pound range with and average of of about ten bass a year in the 5 to 8 pound range. And of course some that weigh under 2 pounds. But this year I have only caught one that weighed 6 pounds most have been in the 3 to 4 pound range. And a guess on 1 pound and under fish for this year would have to be around 25 to 30
  16. I read Bassmasters, Bassin and Infisherman, I find that Infisherman generaly the best even though its multi species they seem not to be a big advertisement for the pros and there sponsers.
  17. Maybe you can get with some of the florida members here on this board and plan a few trips each year together that would give you something to look foward too and it would be fun for all of you
  18. Alright guys here's what's going on I'm going to buy a boat in about a year from now so I'm doing my homework now so I will be ready I have budgeted $25 TO $30 thousand dollars for a boat I don't mind going up a couple more thousand say $33 but that is going to be my limit. I want new not used and I want to get what I want the first time meaning I don't want to get a boat with less than 200hp. I want a fiberglass. I would prefer a triton, but will consider skeeter or ranger as well I know there good boats as well. I have been shopping a little checking some out and so far what I have been shown for that amount isn't what I'm really looking for I have only been to one place and obviosly know I have to go to others as well but the one place I did look they showed me some boats and I beleve could be wrong here that they were tritons G3 series. they only showed one boat and They said it was triton but I didn't see triton written on it anywhere and they weren't particulary interested with me because I did say in a year I will be buying not now My question is what do you think for the amount of money That I have budgeted will get me I would like to stay with the three companys mentioned if possable
  19. Wow tell us how you really feel
  20. I might be wrong there are times when you need to back off and make longer casts when fish are spooked but really I would worry about where your casting more than how far If the fish arent' there then it dosen't matter how far you cast. Someone here will probally have a better answer for you just my thoughts
  21. Avid I have been going through the same here lately I have been switching it around some fishing for some catfish with my dad and yesterday I used a cane pole that a freind had and fished for some bluegill even though I had been catching bass I guess it was something different. Here lately I have gotten my wife interested in fishing for bass and have been teaching her how to use a baitcaster. That has helped alot to keep me going. The more I sit here and think about it The more I think the reason is I don't have a boat yet and when the wife gets out of school I will have one but for now I fish private waters from the bank and it gets old to me being in the same little area it's really no challenge anymore. I'm sure it will pass soon. This site has helped me alot in keeping the fire burinig some. Thanks for posting on this issue avid I thought about doing it but thought people would think I'm nuts but is nice to know I'm not the only one going through it
  22. Not agin this horse has been beatin enough
