  1. Avid made a post about a live bait guy on his home lake and this got me to thinking as to how others use live bait. My experiance with live bait for bass is very basic using a real skinny bobber with a spit shot sinker on the line and a minnow on a hook. I caught plenty of fish using this method but I know there has to be other methods and I was just curious as to what others use.
  2. I have fished live bait for bass myself and it obviously is a great way to catch them. But I like the challenge of picking out the right artificial and catching the fish myself. It seems more satisfing I guess, I would use live bait agin in the future.
  3. I was wondering if there where any substantial differences in the the GL3 rods and the IMX rods. Any suggestions
  4. I voted Shimano but I'm thinking on test driveing a Diawa Zillion was going to go this weekend to buy a new reel but my 10% coupon isn't good until the 12th through the 16th so I'm going this friday. Man I hate waiting
  5. I like the quality that loomis puts into there rods. Quality means alot to me and Loomis has a great reputation
  6. Unless it's a WR which isn't going to happen here in Ky, any fish I catch of size is going to have a Kodak moment and then back to the water it goes. I personally like just taking a picture and showing it and when I catch one bigger it will replace the picture before it.
  7. The last time I check Woodland, Wa was part of the USA Yeah...but this doesn't make Loomis any more American than Toyota. Last time I heard ownership discussed, it appears Loomis is owned by a overseas company. Loomis is just the American name. Out of curiosity what rod would you recommend Vermelho
  8. If your up for a good read I would suggest that you get Knowing Bass the Scientific approach to catching more fish, by Keith A Jones PhD. It basically lays out everything as far a bass senses are concearned.
  9. I actually read a article in Bassin or Bassmasters about Rick Clunn using a buzzbait in those conditions. If I remember correctly it was snowing hard and everything was just silent almost and he stated nothing was working so he said what the hell and started using a buzzbait and proceeded to catch them. I would try it myself you never know
  10. I say even a not so good day on the water is better than nothing. Atleast you got to be outside and enjoy the nature. If you happen to catch a bass than thats a bonus in my book sounds to me like you a had a great day
  11. In my opinion I really don't put any stock into scents or salt myself. If the bait has a scent when bought then thats fine but I don't use scents. I think the key to the GYCB is there softness and texture I beleave thats what makes a fish hold on longer not the salt. Agin this is only my opinion I'm not saying anyone here is wrong or that I'm right just a opinion
  12. From the few responses I have read here sounds like fishing tourney as a non boater is something I don't want to do
  13. If I am thinking correctly I think Loomis is one of the few who don't outsource there rods.
  14. Thanks for the input so far guys, It sucks so many choices to choose from anymore it almost makes buying a new reel a chore na not really it's still fun
  15. Mine is puney compared to some here but I got some Senkos for a dollar a bag once and some tiki sticks at the same price. I got a St Criox premier for fifty bucks new at dicks last year.
  16. Thats funny I can just picture someone doing that ;D
  17. I was watching some of last seasons tourneys on the DVR lastnight and I got to wondering about Mark Zona. He seems like he knows alot about fishing and I know Him and KVD fish alot togather and are good freinds. I was wondering why he doesn't fish tournaments or does he and he isn't good enough to compete on a pro level. He seems like a really nice person and funny at that Just curious.
  18. I was just wondering how well these reels perform and hold up. I plan on going to BPS this weekend and I have been narrowing down my choices on what reel I want. I use shimano now and I have had great service from them. I have no real reason why I want to try something else other than the fact that I just want to see what else is out there, I like the look of the zillion and thought maybe I might try it. It's down to it or a Chronarch 100B. More than likely I will stay with shimano unless I get some really great feed back on the zillion.
  19. I use gamma myself and I like it alot no problems with it so far
  20. So to get this straight here you actually use wd-40 to make the line more manageable or are you guys talking about something to just lube the reel itself. I'm just curious not trying to be a smart elic but why do you use this stuff. I use wd-40 to help loosen up nuts and bolts etc, but never used it on my reels and I never will but just curious
  21. I liked using the garcia's but I made the switch last year to shimano and I don't think I can go back. I have thought about buying a revo but I just can't break away from shimano. Maybe in a couple of years after they have been out a little longer I might go back. I have to say they look nice and I still might get one sooner I haven't seen a bad comment on them yet.
  22. Rip up the offers they send you and then send them back in the pre paid envolope they provide, It cost them money for every envolope they get after a few times they stop
  23. Scientists use to say the world was flat at one time and that we was the only planet in our universe too
  24. I prefer Gamma copolymer line myself, Is it the best well I don't know but it is my favorite
  25. Thats a good one but I think I would just tell the other person to mind there own busines rather than have them freak out or report me to the air marshal and have to go through all that questioning and crap
