  1. Maybe my case is different but I wanted to buy a new Loomis and they didn't have it at my local BPS. So the guy I was talking to took the rod info down and and my name and number and ordered the rod for me and when it came in 3 days later they called and I had my new rod. I haven't had any problems with them
  2. I had a similar experiance with the chronarch that I bought, While it wasn't the mg I still expected it to be alot quieter than it was. It was smooth but you could really hear it working. And casting wise I didn't think it was all that good. I am very happy with the Curado that I have and was really excited when I got the Chronarh but was quickly let down. I still like the curados I'm not much on the Citca's and I haven't used any other reels from shimano so I can't speak of them, but I took a chance on Diawa and bought a zillion and I liked it so much I returned the Chronarch and got another Zillion. I haven't given up on shimano but I'm glad I took a chance with Diawa. I'm the same way I don't like waiting and when you spend that kind of money It should be perfect out of the box
  3. We went from record highs to record lows for this time of year all in a weeks time. One weekend I was trying to catch them off the bed and this weekend I just stay in bed for a couple extra hours instead of getting up early to go fishing.
  4. I'm with Ceph and Avid on this myself. I wouldn't mind fishing a couple weekend tourneys on local lakes, you know the ones where you pay $20 or so on a entry fee and just kinda fish for fun and if you happen to catch more than the rest you win and if you don't you still had a good time anyway. Competing on the pro level dosen't appeal to me. Fishing is my get away and think time it's what I like to do when things aren't going the way I think they should or hoped they should. It's what I like to do after a bad day at work. If I was fishing pro what would I do when I had a bad day at work.
  5. If it is an option try checking out Bass Pro they offer more reels in your price range than Dicks and you probally won't have any return issues it ever comes to that. You can get some get deals on there combos if you watch therer adds
  6. While it is true that they will buy you an extra second for the hookset Did you know that they have actually taken cotten swabs diped them in oil and the bass ate it with no apparent side effects and seemed to actually want it. Natural I really think you would like the book I mentioned on the first page. I have mentioned it in another post there are a few things bass have been shown to actually dislike and some soaps and detergents are in there but they can not stand DEET that is found in bug sprays
  7. Part of me likes the no Politics or Relgion Policy and part of me dosen't, I like to blow off a little steam about what steams me here and there and like a good debate, but on the other hand it does get old and almost always goes south ( no offense southern guys). Its hard to try and please everyone and I do feel like the no politics/relgion is probally best in the long run.
  8. Hey Dodge did you happen to read the Tackle tour tests on fluro that was posted a while back. It might help you narrow down some of your choices
  9. I was shocked to come across this myself just recently. I have that book and I'm still reading it. What book is this? The book is a good read somewhat technical and a little to in depthat times but I would suggest everyone read it. The book is Knowing Bass the scientific approach to catching more fish by Keith A. Jones PhD, who is the director of fish research at Berkley Fish Research center If your serious about fishing you will read this book

White mike I was just posting my opinion on the matter no need to get all sarcastic. If you want to waste your money on scents then go ahead, I Don't so if that makes you mad oh well. Educate your self and you won't have to buy the confidence in the bottle
  11. I wouldn't waste my money on scents let alone garlic scents
  12. Here is graph that will help with the garlic myth as well. It's not a wonder scent and yet people swear by it. The fact is it dissapates long befor the bass get a hold of the bait
  13. I agree, While there are few man made oders that are inherently repulusive to bass Cigarette oder isn't one of them and there is no proof that it is. One of the worst things that a fisherman can do that will absoulutly deter a bass and I mean make them run is the use of bug repellant with Deet.

Me personally I think you will just be wasteing money. Bass encounter several different scents daily and only a few will trigger a bass to be on the alert for possable food in the area and garlic isn't a scent that triggers it. The bass know the scent of there quarry and most everything else is nothing to them. I think scents are more to catch fisherman than fish. I don't buy them Just my opinion
  15. I don't know how it will effect Berkley but it won't effect me. I don't buy pure fishing products. I did in the past but not any more
  16. I voted BPS and a local shop.
  17. Thanks for the info RecMar I hadn't heard about them for a long time. I wish I would have seen that show. I did see a picture of one once There ugly. Kinda makes you wonder what all is swiming in the worlds oceans that we don't know about
  18. Knock yourself out man, you have made it clear three times that you would do it, so go do it and report back to us if you live through it. I like the show and no the thought of being washed over board into freezing water and dying of hpothermia or drowning before they get me back on dosen't jive with me. Screw the money I'll work at McDonalds and support my family, if I had too. At least then I will still have them and them me.
  19. Isn't that amazeing. If only that fish could talk. Speaking of old fish does anyone remember years ago a fish called and this is spelled wrong, Cellacanth caught off the coast of africa it was supposed to be a really old and extinct fish.
  20. I'll second that, Anyway I also have to agree with what a few have stated already, It's all in advertising. There target buyers aren't the loomis crowd. I highly doubt it's as sensitive as they say it is. I wouldn't use one but thats just me
  21. Glad I stocked up on some a while back I might go and try to see if they will sell me more for a discount http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1173046602
  22. Avid your prediction has somewhat already come true just look in the latest issue of bassmaster they talk some about fluro and its stretch
  23. Well if your state has the lottery and this mostly pertains to scratch off tickets sold at the counter. I absolutly hate and it ticks me off to the point I just would like to whack the person doing so is you go into a gas station to pay for gas buy a pack of smokes or what ever and you get to the counter only to find a person standing there playing the lottery and hold everyone up while they do so. They buy the tickets and scratch them off to see if there a winner and if not they buy more or if they win they buy more and continue the process usaually until I make a sarcastic comment and then they get the hint. They act like there is no one else there but them. I also hate it when you go to pay for something and the cashier where ever it may be is busy holding a converstion with a co worker or a freind they know who is there and are to busy to wait on you because you interupting there converstion. Really not too much else gets me fired up other than that.
