  1. The CU100D would be my choice I already have the 200DHSV and I like it alot. I just bought a Citica last week and I don't like it at all. It's going back and I'm upgrading to a chonarch
  2. The C rig is one of my favorites
  3. To be honest I really haven't payed a whole lot of attention to how I hold it. I just know what feels comfortable in my hands. I concentrate on the tradjectory of the bait and the target. To me if it's more comfortable for a person to stand on there head and pitch and still hit the target quietly and accurately then thats whats important. Each person is different and I think what ever feels right is the best
  4. I beleve it was lightining rod who told me this tip. Try casting with the handles of the reel facing upward toward the sky.
  5. I was just curious how many guys here have used all star rods. I don't have one myself and just got a loomis yesterday but I happend to see them but never stopped to look them over. I have looked at them in the BPS catalog and they seem like a decent entry level rod price wise but just curious how they are performance wise.
  6. More tackle
  7. I don't have a pay pal account but I want to contribute a little if still can. I look forward to seeing my wife and daughter first when I come home from work this site is second on my list. Personally I hate the fact that Glenns paying for something that benifets me without asking for help, makes me feel like a freeloader. I learned more from this site than anywhere else I'm willing to pay for that
  8. I fish private owned water myself. I personally don't mind takeing someone to my honey holes as long as I know there as serious about C&R as I am. But if they aren't then I don't take them. I beleve in selected harvest and all I don't keep but I understand some like to keep a couple here and there and thats fine. But I don't like the ones who try to keep everything they catch or someone who catches a Five pounder and wants to get it mounted. I have had a couple spots ruined by people keeping more than there fair share so I cautious on who I take anymore.
  9. I like using Gamma myself hasn't let me down yet
  10. Try using a Lc pointer. It works great too
  11. my mistake NE bassman it's going to be for baitcasting application
  12. I suck at trying to figure out what rod is best for what I need I'm trying to add a couple more setups this year and there is just so many rods to choose from I don't even know where to begin, But I have narrowed it down to two companys and thats as about as far as its gotten. The ones I'm looking at are St. Criox and Loomis. I like to fish plastics alot and I really love C rigging, and I basically want this to be my plastics rod. Any suggestions. Also while I'm at it can anyone tell me is there a big difference in St. Criox's Premier series rods and there Avid series rods. I have a premier series already and I like it alot but just curious if there is a big difference between the two I would like to stay no more than the $200 range if I can.
  13. Make sure you wet the line good before cinching down the knot or it will fail http://bassresource.com/fishing/fluorocarbon.html This might help you as well. Welcome to the forums
  14. I hate even reading about it. If our society would publicy torture these people where everyone could see them and without the months of trails and lawyers arguing over there so called rights things like this wouldn't happen near as much as they do now. The problem is a criminal has more rights today than a 10 month old child. If we cained them to death in public I would bet that it would send a message.
  15. Muddy you crack me up, I remember that one myself but can't remember who it happend to
  16. I'm sure before they were pro's or even heard of for that matter they got there start like most of us from the bank, a dock or a Jon boat. What got them to where they are today is dedication and alot of devotion spent doing what they love.
  17. Just to let people know that there where certified scales at the dock where wheatly and friends where standing for a couple of pictures. Thats what the park ranger who was being interveiwed by bass center said. I think I would out of my own curiosity would have weighed it on that scale.
  18. I'm wondering do you think that with the increase in todays fishing pressure versus that of the time of perrys day has anything to do with why we don't see bigger fish. I know the majority or atleast I'm guessing back in perrys time probally kept the fish for eating. But I have to think that there were not as many people targeting bass back then as there are now so there would be less pressure on the fish. I'm just guessing here so I'm not trying to stir up the kettle but wouldn't less fishing pressure equal more of a chance to catch a record class fish throughout certain states like georgia and florida, texas more often. With alot of C&R anglers out there, There are still alot of people who keep there catch and I wonder how many people keep there catch today as compared to perrys time. With more people fishing today than in perrys time I would think the keep ratio would be more now then during perrys time. Would that factor into why we don't see bigger fish more often or am I totally wrong here
  19. Well it's almost that time agin, the Bassmaster Classic. So I was wondering who you guys think might win or hope to see win this years classic. Any guesses on what the winning weight might be.
  20. I made two post on this topic Ideleted one both where in the lines of this guy saying I'm sorry and things be on there way but after reading a article from the link Daniel my brother provided I am now changing my stance on this clown. As far as I'm concearned I don't care what he has to say I really don't want nothing to do with a pompus *** such as him and I'm glad he's gone. I will say I'm sorry for my attitude toward this but I've learned to much from here to just let someone bash it. This site has made me better at fishing and beleve me I need the help but none the less it's help me alot, and I am gratefull to have a great site like this to turn to when in doubt. There's not a book or magazine, Tv show out there that can hold a candle to this site and it's wealth of knowledable people that's what makes this so great. So I guess in a way Thanks Mr Baugher you made me realize how much I need this site. If there is one thing this site hasn't helped me with though and thats my spelling seems to get worse everyday anybody else have that problem. Seems to get worse the older I get.
  21. In ky you don't need a indiana license to fish the ohio. All you need is your ky license and you can fish both sides of the river as long as it is the main river and not tributaries both indiana and ky honor each others license in the main river. Not sure if the state of ohio has the same agreement but I'm thinking they do
  22. Mattlures you mentioned that mike long dominates tournaments in southern CAL but how well does he do throughout the rest of the country. I don't know the guy and to be honest I have only heard of him once other than this but thats my fault I don't really keep track of the trophy hunting crowd so I'm not trying to say he isn't good but it isn't hard to dominate tourneys if your only fishing your homewaters. Both guys you mentioned are fishing western waters and they are without a doubt good but they should be if thats the only areas there fishing. I think overall KVD would be better not at trophy hunting obviously but at tournaments yes Definatly
  23. I guess I'm going to have to go with tourney anglers as far as performing under pressure. I'm sure but not a given that most trophy hunters aren't good under pressure. But I on the other hand I would have to say that hawg hunters can out perform a tourney angler when it comes to being patient and concentrating on that one bite that will be a trophy as were a tourney fisherman probally isn't going to be as patient. I would say they are both the best in there own ways.
