  1. I think I'm good on the fishing dept. I would like to have a new Matthews bow though.
  2. If it's meant to be hard wired then thats what should be done, Not jimmyrig it. Thats how houses burn down. I would rather stay cold than burn up :
  3. MichBass if you can insulate your duct work that will help you alot. And the insulation in your attic needs to be atleast 15 inches thick. Try not to smash down the insulation you do have up there because that takes away from the R value. Another tip is to check around your exterior doors feel if there is a draft there. If so you might need new weather stripping. I would check the windows to see if there is no cracks around the caulking on the inside and out. It might pay to get new windows the new windows today are more energy efficiant and will save you money in the long run. Only 20% percent of houses built before 1980 were insulated properly. Here is a link that I think will help you. let me know if I can help you more http://www.energy.iastate.edu/efficiency/HomeSeries1.pdf
  4. I like to buy a couple reels a year and rods. And oddly enough I always buy in the winter for some reason. I guess it's the thought of not being able to fish as much during the winter months and it's seems to help pass the time.
  5. I don't like mice myself but I think to myself on this and say if you can't catch a fish using artifical baits and have to resort to using live mice then maybe its time to find another hobby sport whatever. I don't really care for cats a whole lot I don't hate them, Any moron who would use a kitten for bait should be hooked in the sack with a #5 ewg and forced to run at gun point so far out then have someone do a Bill dance hookset on them.
  6. I wish you guys could come here and whack some of ours. I'm tired of dealing with them. they make rabbit hunting with dogs almost a nightmare. We have too many deer here IMO you see them laying next to road everyday. I can count almost 1 to 2 per mile traveled that have been hit at certain times of the year. This year due to the drought they have shorten the season saying the deer population was hit hard cause of drought conditions. This is in my area of the state I don't know about the rest of the state. But the past couple of years they said the deer pop was too high and needed to be thinned down. I personally hoped they would leave it open a solid two months for gun season and thin it down more this year.
  7. To many variables my foot if you advertise it then you had better have or be able to get it in reasonable amount of time if the said item runs out. Thats like bass pro saying come on in tommorow for great deals on fishing reels and you get there and they don't have any reels. If you know you don't have it and know you don't have enough for the demand then don't advertise it. And don't sell it the night before if your advertiseing it for the sale on the next day : : :
  8. Whats really sucks is the fact that it would probally be a complete headache to get legal action taken aginst them. I would email the corporate offices and let them know of the prob and how I wouldn't be shopping there anymore. I would try to contact the local news and let them know. I would give the state ATT Generals office a call and anyone else I could think of. I say give them some hardways to go. They obviously didn't mind giving your daughter a headache I would try and return the favor to them.
  9. I wouldn't have them come check unless your landlord gives permission. I would have to think though that eventually he will replace this system and put in a more modern system. It sounds as if he might be heading that direction. I would talk to him and find out what his plans are. In many cases you can get tax incentives for up grading to a more energy efficent system and it will help lower the tenents costs a month if there is a modern heating plant in the house. Your landlord can have a home energy auditor come in and do an audit and this will help him see where he should spend money and where not to. Just like the on demand hot water is a great way to save you and him money. You because your not paying to heat water all day long and him because he may get a tax break on installing them. Your situation requires a bit of sales on your part. If you can convince him that it will save him money then eventually it will save you as well. Another thing he can do is insulate the duct work. Uninsulated duct loses an estimated 20 to 30 percent of heating energy during it's course of use. This year with fuel oil going to be higher than any other heating fuel it would be a good idea if he did switch to a different heating source. I know you guys have some cold winters up there and I really think this is something I would talk to him about because I really think between the amount of electric you pay for and the amount of heating costs you pay if you add it all up it's probally going to be around $350 a month this year, now is the time to look for ways to conserve When I get a little bit of time I send some more helpfull links your way By the way that is a awesome veiw I would definatly talk to him about upgrading I wouldn't want to lose that view either.
  10. Your post has brougt back a memory to me. I used to work at a fire dept and we had this one ambulance that was set up for city driveing it was governed at 60mph which in the city thats plenty because your not going to be doing or shouldn't be doing 60mph in city driveing with all the lights and intercections. It had power for the slowing down for a intercection and then speeding backup when through. But were we was, was a mix of city and rural district. In the city it was fine but the quickest way to the hospital was the expressway from just about any point in our area. The hospitals was 15 to 20 miles away depending on which one you needed. Any way I used to hate getting on the expressway with that thing at a max speed of 60mph and the speed limit 65mph and everyone on the expressway doing 70 plus it was like riding a moped. I can remember hating to have to turn the lights and sirens on because hell no one was in my way they just passed us and looked at us funny. I mean you now its sad when a school bus passes you and kids are waving at you, oh I used to hate it. But fortunitly that unit was turned into a back up unit and not used very much just for that reason and eventually got sold and we got a new one that would suit our needs better. It's not that we needed to go 100mph but 70 to 75 mph is enough speed to get the job done and it just wouldn't do it. Anyway I know it's of topic but just wanted to share a memory this thread brought back
  11. Wow I totally agree with you $200 a month and I can heat my house comfortably and its 2000 maybe more sg ft and thats using propane and a wood pellet stove. I would see about getting your energy provider to do a energy audit and maybe check the systems accuracy on the meters. There is no way a single person in a space that size could be using that much a month unless there is a gapping hole in the ceiling. If your on a good basis with your neihbors find out what there spending and if theres is high as well maybe you guys can convice the landlord to up grade to a new system. This just blows me away I could see if you was renting a house being this high. Also if you think your landlord is gouging you and that might not be the case but it dosen't hurt to check, find out how many gallons the oil tank is and then call the oil company and get a price per gallon and see exactly how much a gallon of oil is and see what he is paying to have the tank filled. He might be getting extra money from you guys by saying it's the heating oil costs. Your hot water heater unfortinutly there isn't much you can do other than insulate it well or upgrade to larger one but renting makes that hard to do and if your able to talk to your landlord about getting on demand tankless hot water heater. they are efficent and you don't run out of hot water and they pay for themsevles in a year. I encourage you to check out this link they have benifets for you and your landlord as well http://homerepair.about.com/od/plumbingrepair/ss/tankless_hwh.htm I hope this helps and I will answer what ever I can for you. There are so many things your landlord can do to save him and you money but he has to be willing
  12. Your answered my questions for me. I was going to say that if you owned you can do alot to help with conserving energy. but renting it tends to be a little harder. One thing you can do if you have to is buy a couple window sealing kits and seal the windows that your not using in other rooms If you have a water heater in your apt and its not one shared with everyone in the building you can check to see what the temp is set at on it. If you set it at 125 and 130 degrees it will save you some money there too. Also you can insulate the out going hot pipe on your water heater the first three feet and that saves money to as you lose alot of energy from that area. Here is another link that might help you. http://www1.eere.energy.gov/consumer/tips/u Also I watched this Old house this weekend and they had a great show on how to save energy I will try to find a link. I know most of this info don't pertain to a heater but it will help in the long run. Also let me know how your heater does I have been thinking about getting one of those oil filled ones myself
  13. Heres a link that might help you some,http://www.consumersearch.com/www/house_and_home/space-heaters/index.html?refcd=GO036942c_space_heater&tsacr=GO441559342&gclid=CNL-jsy78I8CFQHgPAod_TVmKQ. If you don't mind me asking a couple of questions I might be able to help you some more.
  14. I'm sure you will like them I love mine As far as the old Curado's you couldn't give me 10 of them in trade for one of the new ones. Shimano done a good job revamping that reel

Fishing forums wise this is the only one I belong to now. I never really cared for any of the other ones all that much. I like to shoot trap so I belong to a shooting forum and about to join a Rabbit hunting forum today. I don't know what it is but this forum has me spoiled for some reason. I learn alot from here and I like the way it's set up so if it isn't broke don't fix it
  16. I beleave I can go with out the Socialized health care. And the idea it's all free is BS. The government pays a set amount and then the Dr is free to bill you the rest. Also with socialized medicine you have the government telling you that you have to go to the Dr to be checked out so many times a year sick or not. And If someone told me I had to have surgury I don't think I want to wait 6 mos for it. If for some reason the nut jobs out there do get it in effect I will opt out and pay for my own still.
  17. I always thought that if it were me losing the money I would hope someone would try to return it to me if possable. I wouldn't feel right spending money that I didn't earn and knowing who's it was the whole time. Honesty does pay in the long run.
  18. I always make it a point to charge my phone up. It goes on the charger before bed and unplugged from the charger in the morning, I have a car charger that I don't use hardly at all. My phone will last around 18 hrs if used alot before needing charged and around 24 to 28 hrs if not being used alot. I can't see buying one of these for myself I don't think it would ever get used. But it is a good idea
  19. I have to agree with a couple of the other guys on this one. I think Japan had it in there plans to invade the mainland but because of the efforts of our armed forces this plan failed. If they could have gotten the oppurtunity to invade they I think would have. Regardless if every person in the country was carring a weapon or not.
  20. I find that buying rechargable battery's are a good way to solve the battery problem.
  21. All the info you will ever need is on the Andy Griffith show, why watch anything else.
  22. The Gl2 is a entry level rod in my opinion and while I don't have a GL2 I'm sure its a pretty good rod compared to others in it's price range. I would go with the Gl2 if your on a budget or just skip over the Gl3 and go straight to a Imx if a budget is not an issue
  23. Your question or atleast to me would be easier to answer if we knew how you fish the most. Example flipping/pitching, spinnerbaits, Deadsticking. I think we can steer you the right line with some more info
  24. I have 2 of them and I love them I will probally buy a couple more just to have.
