  1. Hahaha. You'll have to talk to my girlfriend about that. She's already peeved at my 6 hour day trip on Day 1.
  2. I've heard about the fishing at Disney, I appreciate the link. I'd really like to go to Toho and catch a toad of a bass. But Im just not sure if I'd have the time.
  3. Howdy folks, I'm going to Florida for a couple of days in the end of January. I'm unbelievably eager to get my line wet, as it's about -20 here in IL with windchill. We are staying in Davenport and going to Orlando mostly. I have the Sunday morning to fish. Anywhere I want and it's my money to spend. What are some people recommendations as to what I should do? Unfortunately, we are flying down, so I can't bring any tackle or rods.
  4. I tie some of my swim jigs with that jig head and I love it. nice sharp hooks, the eyes did come off after awhile, but I was catching enough fish that it was to be expected at that point.
  5. DSG/F&S ships items from a store. We call the orders "pick lists" and I have to dig up lures for people 80x a day during this season lol. If we dont have it, it will ship from the next closest store, while the rest ships from the closer store.
  6. So someone called my store asking if Id "price-match" a BPS special, Buy a Revo, and get a Veritas for free. Thats a crazyyy deal, can anyone confirm?
  7. Its all in the rod. The Dobyns champion 735/6 is a great rod. Ive used one a handful of times and ive planned on getting one soon. Reel doesnt matter too much, i use a Lews Speed Spool LFS with 15# Abrazx.
  8. I would have def checked out the Dobyn's Champ 684/5cb. I've got one for jerkbaits specifically. I've used it for shallow cranks and it's amazing. I personally would recommend the 705cb graphite, but if you want the shorter rod, that 684/5 is just what you would need, from what I've read here.
  9. Anyone here remember what time of year the DSG Lew's Carbon Fire reels were "Buy the reel get the rod free"?
  10. Nice range of answers here. I use 17lb Seaguar Abrazx, I'd move up to 20lb or to the Flippin line if you flip heavy wood.
  11. I'd def check around Dobyn's until you see a mismarked or refurbed 735/6. That rod is the bomb. I don't have the MH mojo glass, but I've got the medium version, it's too light. Definitely too light. You would probably be very happy with the MH. It might be too light for a 1/2 chatterbait with a trailer. The medium I have is fine for a 1/4, but too light for a 3/8+trailer.
  12. That Dobyn's is a real good rod for what you want. As said above, it does run light, about half a power in my opinion (so think medium+0.5). You may also consider the Lew's TP1, those winn grips are nice. I just got a 7'3MH/M. It's fast for a moderate action and runs a tad heavy but that's fine with me, it's very sensitive for the price point.
  13. That 736 would be a bit small, but it'll do fine. You could also check out the Fritts CB rod, there's a 7'11 Heavy. As far as reels, anything 5:1. I know people say you don't need 5:1s anymore, but there is so much resistance on that bait. Check out this 806cb though, it's a good deal: http://dobynsrods.com/store/#!/139-Refurbished-DC-805CB-Glass-XP/p/84270573/category=14031090
  14. That winch is a fairly good deal. You could also try that new RevoX as mentioned, it should be a good reel if Abu does their job right. You should also check out the Lews Spped Spool LFS, 5:1 gear ratio, bigger cranking handle and a deeper spool.
  15. Got a nice coupon as DSG/F&S, getting either the 7'3 MH TP1 or the 7'6 MH David fritts rod. Looking to throw primarily LittleJohns and FatPapas. Anyone got good new or gripes with either?
  16. Going to Estes Colorado for a week (Sat to Sat), not really sure what to expect fishing wise, not even sure what to bring. Anyone know what to expect? Should I look to fish for LMB, smallies or trout? Ponds or Rivers, etc etc. I'll probably just bring my two spinning rods and buy whatever tackle I need when I'm there.
  17. That's a d*mn steal. I'd take it.
  18. Glad to hear it. Ill have to give them another shot then.
  19. There is a 7' MH Fritts for $55 on the third page of the flea page
  20. I was on the phone with them today for another reason and I was told that theyll probably expand the series if its popular.
  21. Ive got a mag heavy rod that I use for flip/pitch/punch, football jigs and carolina rigs. If you can deal with the extra length, you could throw a frog too.
  22. Lews LFS if you dont want to bother with shopping around. If you do its the Lews MB or the Tatula.
  23. Ultimately comes down to which you like more, graphite (custom) or a glass composite (fritts). A glass rod will be heavier, thicker and less sensitive. However it will have a more parabolic bend to it, therefore more forgiving when fighting fish and probably a longer cast (that depends on length too). You can infer the rest about the graphite rod. In regards to what you'd like for each technique, why not both? I prefer a crisper rod for squarebills, so that squarebill custom rod is a good choice. Im actually going to grab a Fritts rod for medium diving cranks soon too, i picked the 7'6 MH. Id really recommend the longer rod, unless youre limited to 7'. You could do either M or MH to be honest, I like the feel of the MH better and I want it for Little Johns and Fat Papas. PS: Solid choie for the reel.
