Ike!!!
My fellow Philadelphians showing that bass fishing is alive and well in this city. What a crowd. Seemed like there was a lot of negativity going into this event. Not a lot of fish, not a lot of big fish, blah blah blah. Well, in order to be the best you have to be able to catch em on every lake and river there is. It was great to see them grinding out limits of 1-3 pounders like the rest of us mere mortals. Lol. But it turned out great. Not to mention I got to spend a day with Tim Horton and another with Ish Monroe.

Bass Master Elite In My Backyard

It's Marshal Time!
Yea Tim struggled all day. He threw a tiny crankbait, popper and a Senko rigged with a small colorado blade in the bottom. He lost a few 2-2.5lb fish as well. In this tourney that would have been huge. He was great. Talked to me. I tried not to bother him too much. He seemed really focused so I just asked him questions here and there about what he was doing. He caught a 6lb in practice he said. The spot was only accessable at low tide. We got there and couldn't fit yet so he fished the area for about an hour until the water fell some more. He had me laying on the front deck to keep the nose down it was so tight. Probably a 50 yard tunnel. Came out covered in spiders. Lol. We were smacking each other all over trying to get them off. Lol. We got in there and another pro was already in there. Tim was ticked to say the least. But he sucked it up and fished on. He caught his first fish in there though. Then we ran back to some spots that had isolated structure in like 4-5 feet of water where he got his second. I know it's a cliche term but "consumate professional" comes to mind. He put his head down and fished, didn't let loosing fish or someone else in his spot get to him. And let me just say, this was my first experience in a bass boat. HOLY CRAP! Flying down the river at like 70mph was insane. I held on to those two handles for my life. Lol. We hit a little chop a few times and the boat would bob to the side, thought I was going to fly out of that thing. But I didnt. Lol.

Put A Kayak On Top Of Your Car With No Roof Rack?
I bought a kit from Dicks. It's basically 2 foam blocks that you sit the kayak on so it doesnt scratch your roof. The open the doors, strap it up, close doors, and tie it down to the hood and trunk and youre ready to go. I transport mine on my 06 Mazda 3 no problems.

Setting The Hook In A Kayak.
What do you mean? Because it isn't always inflated I might as well not have one on?

Setting The Hook In A Kayak.
What do you mean? I think it's less bulky than a standard inherently bouyant life vest. I don't fish big water at all, if I have to swimming back to shore isn't an issue.

Setting The Hook In A Kayak.
Indeed.

Setting The Hook In A Kayak.
You're absolutely right. I do plan on doing that one of these days. I have a Mustang PDF. When it inflates either by the CO2 or rip cord, how do I reset it? Do I need another CO2 cartridge? If so, where can I get them?

Setting The Hook In A Kayak.
So I recently got my first fishing kayak. It's awesome but I've noticed a problem. It's harder to set the hook in a kayak sometimes. If I'm facing the fish head on it's no problem. Reel the slack and yank straight back over my head. But if Im casting to the sides I cant get a solid hook set because I don't want to throw my whole body into it and flip over so I just use my arms. Ill cast to the side, get a bite, set the hook, start fighting the fish and usually on the first jump I lose it. And that's another thing. Usually when a fish is about to just I just point my rod down, but I cant really do that being so low to the water. Any advice?

Kayak Fish Finder.
So i got my first kayak over the weekend. Tricked it out with all sorts of bells and whistles. Only thing left is a fish finder. Can anyone recommend a good first fish finder for a kayak? Nothing crazy. Id prefer a color screen but black and white will suffice. Definitely has to have gps so i can mark waypoints. And the size of the base needs to be considered. Nothing with a huge base. Looking to spend $100-$200 bucks.

New To Kayak Bassin
I just bought a kayak the other day. Tried all different kinds, sit in, sit on top etc etc. Went with a sit in. Got a paddle, paddle clips, anchor, came with 2 rod holders and i got one extra swivel holder. Also got a nice Mustang PDF. My question is can anyone give me tips on safety as well? Just general tips on keeping myself safe out there and avoiding bad situations. I was going to post a topic but this one was here and answered most of my gear questions. Also tips on moving and how to control the kayak.
