  1. I signed up. Its a $125 entry fee. Which is refunded if you dont get in. Im on the waiting list. Does everyone go on the waiting list until they select the marshalls is my question.
  2. I flip and pitch Senkos and other plastics on spinning gear all the time!
  3. Thanks! I started really focusing on going after bigger fish. Fishing a lot slower, using bigger baits. This one came on a 5 inch Senko on a split shot rig. Go figure. Lol
  4. Well I tied on my hooks and lures last night and caught 5 today in a few hours. Including a new PB of 5lbs 2oz. So Ill just keep doing it! But I will always check them before I make a first cast.
  5. Yea im going to go back to doing that. Its usually only 5-6 hours. Tie them before bed and wake up at 5am. Can imagine a onot would degrade in a few hours. Thanks for the input gents!
  6. Anyone do this? I always used to tie on my lures and hooks the night before. And never really experienced any problems. But then i read somewhere its bad because the longer a knot is tied the weaker it gets. So i stopped doing it. But my grandfather does it all the time. From bass fishing with me to fishing for blues and stripers off the coast. And ive never seen it be an issue for him. But i digress. So, anyone out there tie their knots the night before?
  7. I fished jigs a ton this year since It was my technique I chose to improve. Having a great year with them and they have become a real confidence bait. In the beginning I lost a lot of fish though. I've realized, at least for me with jigs no matter how much line I got out I reel up the slack and rip the rod to my right like there's no tomorrow. My buddy laughs every time but its been working great for me. With a Texas rig I snap the rod straight up as hard as I can. For some reason the sweep set doesn't work too good for me with a Texas rig
  8. Yea I'm definitely going to go for it. What exactly does the job entail? You just sit there and watch them and make sure they don't cheat? Also, any idea of how long before the tournament registration starts? Is it a first come first serve basis?
  9. Yea I mean if they werent trying to talk Id obviously just let them be but even just watching Im sure I could learn a ton. Im definitely going to go for it. Me and a buddy are going to sign up whenever it opens. I guess registration would start near the beginning of the season?
  10. So the Elite Series is coming to the Delaware river next August! I've been waiting forever for this and honestly never thought it would happen. It's going to be an interesting tournament. Anyways I'm really interested in signing up to be a Marshall. I live less than 2 miles from the Delaware and never fish it because I just don't know where to start. Being in a boat with one of these guys for a day would be incredible. I could learn more from them in a day than I have my whole life. So, has anyone ever been a Marshall? How was the experience? I'd imagine it's amazing. Any input from anyone who has done it would be greatly appreciated! Fish on!
  11. Been waiting forever for them to come to the Delaware. Def gonna sign up to be a marshall! Any idea where theyll launch from? Cant think of a marina in the area that can handle that volume of boats and anglers. I think its gonna be a stingy tourney. Its not known as a big fish fishery but i think a lot of guys will target smallmouth up in Trenton or in the Skuykill or Neshaminy Creek. Cant wait!
  12. It's funny cause you just described exactly where I fish. Two small quarry lakes, ones about an acre the other is a few. The bigger is crazy deep and the small one is being filled in we are transplanting fish. Ive had a ton of success this year on spinnerbaits, squarebill cranks, jigs, big 12 inch worms and Senkos slowly dragged in a split shot rig. The split shot rig is deadly for me in these quarry lakes. Last year we talked to the stone company that owns the quarry and they let us sink some christmas trees, logs, cinder blocks and other cover along the bank. We positioned a lot of the cover on the bank on flats right on the edge right before it drops off deep. The fish love to use that stuff in the early spring when they just move up from the deep before going on to the spawning flats and in the fall before they head back out deep. And theres always some fish on them year round. But yea, big squarebills along the bank, like the KVD 2.5. Spinnerbaits with BIG blades, dragging big worms and Senkos are killer for me.
  13. I dont own a boat either so Im always on the bank. You can catch tons of quality fish from the bank. You just have to find the places nobody goes. I regularly treck through thick woods looking for secluded spots. If you can find a secluded spot with some kind of structure and cover youre mint. If youre afraid of spiders, ticks and other bugs its not the kind of thing youll like. But if they dont bother you then like i said treck and find those spots that only boats usually can get to.
  14. I hooked into a four pounder earlier this year on my 5 foot ultra light ugly stick. Talk about a fight. Thing felt like an Orca!
  15. Tie on a tiny jig head with a tiny grub on an ultra light and fish! If you catch shad, there's shad, if you catch bluegill, there's bluegill. Etc etc. That's how I usually find out what the forage is on a lake or pond.
  16. Absofreakinlutely! It's spinnerbait time!!!!
  17. Im in the same position in terms of a quarry honey hole being filled in. It sucks. Luckily theres another one like 50 yards away. Were going to transport them. But it's reasons like that I dont tell anyone about my spots. Unless I know for sure they wont do that crap.
  18. I love spinnerbaits in fall and early spring. My favorite bait to fish. Last fall I could barely start my retrieve before it got smoked like a freight train.
  19. I used to feel the same way man. Until one day last summer I was at my quarry lake fishing a deep hole. I was dragging big worms and cranking deep cranks. Caught a bunch of fish, mostly 1-2 pounders. Then I decided what the heck and threw on a bluegill colored jig with a tiny beaver trailer. First cast right when the jig was about to hit bottom, BOOM! Caught a 4.5 pounder. Was stoked. Slayed them the rest of the day with a bunch of three pounders too. Since then I've been doing great with jigs. Sometimes all it takes is that one time you throw it in the right place at the right time and catch fish. Builds up your confidence in it a lot. keep throwing them and it will pay off. Or you're just fishing where there is no fish! Lol
  20. Do the baits have to be floating baits? Or can i use a normal worm or something?
  21. Yea I always thought of it as better suited for a boat. But Im watching video of this past weekends Elite Series event and they're casting drop shot rigs all the time so I don't know.
  22. By the way the one lake is a few acres big, clear water, really deep in some spots. The other is a bit smaller, dirty water, rocky bottom. They dump big dug up chunks of concrete in the smaller one.
  23. And that is why I always wear sun glasses. No matter what. Close call man. Good to hear you're alright. Careful yankin those snags!
  24. Anyone have any experience fishing a drop shot from the bank? The fish are all finicky this time of year in my local quarry lakes and I want to start fishing some finesse tactics. Never fished a drop **** before but I know the basics. But does it work well and is it effective from the bank? I would think being lower to the water would mess up the presentation. If anyone has any input on this I'd love to hear it. Also, what line, weight and baits work best for you as well. Thanks!
