  1. I use them in my guitar cases to keep moisture out. Never dawned on me to use them in my tackle boxes.
  2. There was a $125 registration fee. If you don't get in it's refunded. But I got in! it's a little over 6 months away and I'm crazy excited for it.
  3. Finesse fishing and topwater. I'm a big texas and split shot rig guy but I've never drop shotted and used shaky heads much. And I've never caught a top water fish. Ever. I guess in all fairness I haven't given them a fair chance, bu when I'm throwing one for a half hour and get nothing I gotta switch it up.
  4. The water in my quarry lakes is ice cold. After landing a bass the fish is usually curled up the thing is so cold. Pretty much just reel them in.
  5. I accomplished my goal of a five pounder twice. First was a 5.2 second was a 5.9. I knew there was five pounders swimming in my two quarry lakes. I had been catching a lot of 3-4 pounders and this year i told myself I'd focus and catch that five. Had a great year over all. My phone is filled with tons of pics of 3-5 pounders just this year.
  6. 1)Fish where nobody else fishes. 2)Fish big baits. 3)Fish SLOOOOOOW!
  7. 5 inch Senkos. Fat Ika's, 10 inch Zoom Ole Monster worms, Spinnerbaits. Squarebill crankbaits.
  8. The two quarry lakes I fish were on FIRE last fall. Alls I had to do was chuck a spinnerbait ou there and star winding and catch 3-5 pound fish one after the other. This fall. Pfft. This fall is terrible. Had my first two skunks of the year last Sunday and today.
  9. After casting all day my lower back usually hurts. I find stretching before helps. Before I make my first cast Ill stretch my back and arms. Loosen up a bit and get the blood flowing.
  10. IM IN! Just got the email saying my status has changed from on waiting list to IN TOURNAMENT! YES!!!!!!! Im so stoked! If i get paired with Ike or KVD Im going to go ballistic!
  11. Im obsessed with guitar. Of course I know who Joe Bonamassa is! Amazing guitar player that guy.
  12. Guitar and bass fishing are my two passions. Been playing guitar since I was 12. Almost 20 years of performing fretboard autopsy. I'm mostly into hard rock and metal. Some of my heroes include Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Satriani, Jimmy Page, Hendrix, B.B. King, Guthrie Govan, the list goes on and on. I love the "shredders" of the instrument. But my tastes go from Bach to Slayer. So, roll call for all the guitarists out there! What do you like to play? How long have you been shredding? Who are your heroes of the instrument?
  13. I agree with the consensus. Find new waters to fish. When I first started two years ago I sucked. I mean I was the suckiest suck that ever sucked. I had crap gear, fished terrible spots for bass that probably weren't even there. But I just kept exploring and exploring and exploring some more. Eventually I found a few spots that I know I can catch quality fish in. FIND NEW WATERS!
  14. I guess it could be both. Sometimes it's definitely the wind or a small bug because it will be right in front of me in 6 inches of crystal clear water and I see nothing in the water. But sometimes they will go towards the bank and cut left or right real quick, I think they may be small bait fish. Whatever it is I need to stop casting at it and thinking about it because it's obviously driving me nutty.
  15. Haha exactly. Everytime I see one I cast to it. And literally never get bit when I do.
  16. Yea Ive been chalking it up to wind or bugs. Thanks for the replies.
  17. So lately at the quarry lakes I fish I notice in the early morning when the surface is like glass or even a slight ripple Ill see these V shaped waves moving on the surface. I swear they are fish but a few times I've seen them real shallow there is never a fish in the water. Just this V shaped wave moving on the surface. What is this? The water in these lakes is pretty clear. Sometime Ill see these V shapes moving toward the bank then turn real quick and dissapear. Always thought they were fish but like I said when it happens close to me I never see a fish in the water. Can someone explain?
  18. On the contrary the action is just heating up!
  19. If youre fishing from the bank I suggest covering more water. When I get to a spot Ill have a rod with a Senko, one with a Fat Ika, one with a spinnerbait, one with a jig and one with a crankbait. If I dont catch something within 20 mins with those lures I move on. How long have you been fishing? When I first started it was a lot more fishing and very little catching. But after studying everything I could about our beloved black bass Ive gotten a lot better. Havent been skunked once this year. You should always be able to catch at least one on a Senko or other plastic worm. Just keep moving until you find them.
  20. I always see people talk about this happening but I rarely have it happen and I only have R bend spinnerbaits. Use some wire or something to wrap around the bend.
  21. True there's always certain spots that hold fish because of what it has to offer.
  22. Conditions. People tend to fish spots and lures that worked last week or last year or even the day before. Everyday is a new day and all factors should be considered when choosing a spot, lure, color, retrieve.
  23. I think you mean "leader" not liter. And I hate those things. Be prepared to snag them with those exposed hooks.
  24. I signed up a day after the registration opened. Nothing yet.
