Me neither man. I once saw two boxes, one for a Barbie fishing rod and another for a spiderman one. Laying on the ground next to each other. Which leads me to believe some guy decided to take his kids fishing. Then the example he leaves for them is to just leave your trash anywhere. People are gross.

I hear ya man. The two quarry lakes I fish are filthy. The place is the definition of a honey hole. Tons of 3-5 pound bass, huge catfish, carp and bluegills. And people just trash it. I take some trash with me everything I leave but it's impossible to keep up. There is only like 10 people I've ever seen fish it. And I know 6 of them. Lol. So I have an idea who it is. It's just ridiculous. Here is an example of what I'm dealing with.

What part of NJ? Cause I'm in Philly and the water is colder than that. Fished last weekend and it was dead. Started slamming them last year in the last week of March and first week of April. We crushed them on spinnerbaits. Chuck and wind, it was awesome. But yea for me spinnerbaits kill it in early spring.

My ipod goes from Bach to Slayer and everything between. But being a guitarist I tend to lean more towards guitar heavy music. Metallica, Megadeth, Children of Bodom, Slayer, Testament, Anthrax, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Zepplin, Hendrix, SRV, Django Reinhart, Chet Atkins, all sorts of stuff. But I love what they would call "shredders". Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Satriani, Tony MacAlpine, the list goes on and on. But I must admit, there is something awesome about listening to great classical composers while on the lake as the sun is coming up and hooking into one of them chunky green fish. Lol

Cause it's a finesse technique. Casting rods aren't really conducive to 6-8lb test and tiny weights. Lol

Thanks for all the replies! I have a ML rod with 8lb Im gonna use. My main question though is, is this a technique that can be effective from the bank? Which is mostly where I fish from.

Agree with everyone. Use soft plastics more and you will catch a ton more fish. Throw in some spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and such too!

One of the techniques I'm going to work on this year is drop shotting, I've literally never done it. So can anyone recommend what I need to get started? What's some good size and style weights and hooks you guys use? Also any recommendations on baits would be appreciated.

I love the elitism in fishing. You don't fish for the same fish that I fish for so that somehow makes you a lesser fisherman and screw you. It's sad really.

Yea that will happen. I think it's from the moisture from the water after using them. Just do what I do and as soon as you buy a spinnerbait rip off that cheap rubber collar and replace it with some wire.

Yea it wont be on tv for a while. There isnt anywhere online you can watch it like you can on tv. Bassmaster.com is your best bet for all the latest info and Im sure they will have video clips and picture galleries during the tournament.

Just use a file like I do. I've saved tons of spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, jigs, treble hooks and even normal worm hooks by sharpening them. I always keep a file in my tackle bag.

Ill go look at my area on there. First I'll use just the normal map and look for anything blue since it indicates water. Then I'll zoom in and change to satellite mode and see what it looks like. See how I will get in and out, check out the banks and see if I can see any structure or cover.

Bassmaster is notorious for this. They dont verify at all. Hry just take the fishermans word for it. And we all know how that goes. Ive seen pictures in the lunker club on their website that were OBVIOUSLY photoshopped. Like it was really obvious.
