  1. X2 I do a quarter turn type thing while banging my rod tip down. Make sure when youre in between handle turns and rod drops that theres slack in the line.
  2. This sucks big time. May he rest in peace. We've all been guilty of staying out when we should maybe go back in. Sucks that the reminder had to come in the form of a fellow angler losing his life. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
  3. Exactly. I used to be mad at how horrible the durability of a Senko was. But then I figured Im going through a pack/pack and a half each trip out. Catching 1-2 fish on each one so Im happy as a clam. I used the Yum Dingers for a while, they were ok, didnt like the slot they had in them. Honestly nothing wiggles like a Senko.
  4. I got two strip pits near me that are straight honey holes. Love those places.
  5. I gotta have those. They look awesome! Everytime Im dragging a Carolina or Split Shot rig Im wishing my worm was floating behind. But it says on the homepage that if youre looking for floating worms, trick worms, senkos. I only saw the curly tail worm and the one beaver bait. Do they have more styles?
  6. You didn't do anything wrong, if anything you did everything right! The reason you got em through the nose is because when the jig is sitting on the bottom the hook is sitting straight up so when they come and get it they go nose down and it gets em right between the eyes. It doesn't hurt them or anything. A bass brain is pea sized at best. And I think it sits further back in their head. If you have ever fished a stand up shakey head or any other stand up jig the hook up is the same way.
  7. Thanks! I was getting discouraged cause I was catching dinks all morning. Nothing over a pound. 11 oclock rolls around and I decide to hit the spot I was at first thing in the morning. Casted across a small point with the Senko with a 1/8 ounce bull shot a foot and a half up the line. Caught those two back to back!
  8. Well I took some advice from here when I went out this morning. I was fising a Senko on the 4/0 EWG hook, using a split shot rig except I was using a 1/8 ounce bull shot sinker instead of a round shot. Every bite I got I beared down and yanked their jaws out. I landed all 6 bfish, heresa the two best. A 3-6 and a 4 pounder even.
  9. I figured as much. I did notice the times I actually hammered back hard I managed to get em.
  10. Regular EWG. I do all my plastic fishing with spinning gear. A 6'6 medium action rod. The reel is 5.6.1 i believe. 8 pound line.
  11. I've been using EWG hooks lately instead of my standard offset shank worm hooks. I like them a lot. Only thing is sometimes I get bit, go to set the hook, the fight starts then the fish is gone two seconds later. I don't get it. I mostly fish Senko's, big ribbontail worms and Fat Ika's. Im using a VMC 4/0 EWG hook. It's especially bad when i rig the fat ika backwards with the tentacles near the eye of the hook. I've tried overhead hooksets, side sweeping hookset, everything. I mean I do hook most of my fish but it seems like 15-20 percent of the time the fight starts, fish swims around a big then boom, slack line. I don't get it. What am I doing wrong?
  12. The Wal Mart near me is atrocious. It makes the Dick's next door to it look like BPS. Went in today after Dick's cause they were out of Fat Ika's. They literally had half an isle of lures. It was pathetic.
  13. Bass Pro Shops are more of a massive chain. Every one of their stores are going to have everything you need. I think Dick's stocks more local stuff. Things that work well in that particular area. At least my Dick's does.
  14. Not really, I do love Senko's. dingers and Fat Ika's. I use one of those three 90 percent of the time. Also love BIG curly tail worms. Any brand will do.
  15. I've watched this so many times. It's incredible.
  16. Dude, we live right on the Delaware River. Go get em! Find backwaters, small ponds and lakes that not many people fish.
  17. A crankbait with a blade on it? I want that!
  18. Im obsessed with music. Ive been playing guitar since I was 6. Music means a lot to me. For some reason though when Im out fishing I prefer the sounds of nature. The birds, the bugs, frogs, all that good stuff. Its peaceful and relaxing.
  19. Since posting this ive since found places with big carp and big bass. The two small quarry lakes I fish have some pretty big carp and a nice population of solid bass.
  20. I've had a lot of success with Reaction Innovations Sweet and Kinky beaver. My all time favorite, not sure if it's considered a creature bait so much as a grub, but the Yamamoto Fat Ika. Rig it backwards with the tentacles by the hook eye on a 4/0 EWG hook. The bass in the quarry lakes I fish go crazy for it. They absolutely can't stand it.
  21. I've learned an incredible amount from this site. Pretty much everything I know about bass fishing I learned here. I just started fishing two years ago. Me and a buddy would go drown bloodworms in the Delaware and usually not catch crap. After some searching I discovered the wonderful world of bass fishing and this site. Since then I've learned so much. This site is a great place to learn anything you wish to know about our great sport. The mods work hard and keep us informed, you guys rock!
  22. I did not understand anything that was written on that site. Lol. Crazy looking lures though.
  23. Id love to get out with Glenn and catch some monster bass!
  24. Oh yea I forgot about that. They must keep a body part on the boat at all times. Like you said, no intake no output. lol
