Fishing Coves In Winter. Waste Of Time?
I'm on foot. Can't get into the marina unless you own a boat slip. I've been kicked out before. And no I've never been on that island. I've heard that there lots of good sized, dumb bass in there. Just have to be weary of the tides. If you're in there when the tide goes out you won't get out. Its straight mud along the banks.

Fishing Coves In Winter. Waste Of Time?
I was thinking about going up to this cove that has done wel for me in the spring, summer and fall. Never fished it in winter. Ill be there at around 7-8am. Low tide is a 1015. So ill be fishing the high tide going out to low tide. Is this going to be a waste of time this time of year? Or can i possibly catch something. Ive caught LMB, SMB, catfish, crappie and bluegill in this spot. When the tide gets low i can walk around the sides. Theres a dock at the inside of the cove and one at the mouth where it empties into Neshaminy Creek. Any tips? What would you throw?

Bucktail Jigs
Yea I figured I would just drag it on the bottom starting and stopping it with long pauses in between. Seems like the hair on it would pulse and sway really well.

Need Help Deciding On Canoe Or Kayak.
Wow guys, thanks for all this info. Id love to be able to have one I can stand in but since I am 6'6 my center of gravity is weird. I tip easily. lol. What are the pros and cons of sit in and sit on top models? I just want something I can be comfortable in and easily transport. Im really only looking to spend like 500 since its my first one. I like some of the pictures of canoes Ive seen members post on here. They look stable and youre able to stand up which is great for someone as tall as me. But having said that they seem harder to transport, especially since I drive a Mazda. Thanks for all this info guys, You guys ROCK! Have a safe and happy holiday guys.

Bucktail Jigs
So today I was Christmas shopping for my grandfather at Dicks. Of course I had to buy myself some stuff. Besides buying spinnerbaits, jigs and cranks I bought some bucktail jigs. I remember reading an article on here that was written by Ike I believe that was about using bucktails for bass. I cant find it now for some reason so here I am. Anyone use these for bass? If so, how do you use them and where and when? Should i work them like I would work a normal bass jig?

6 inch Yum Dinger in Watermelon Strike King 3/8 ounce spinnerbait Black and blue football jig KVD 2.5 squarebill crankbait in bluegill color. As far as the 2 rods Id bring one spinning rod with 8lb test mono and a baitcaster spooled with 14lb flouro.

Need Help Deciding On Canoe Or Kayak.
Good day and Merry Christmas to everyone. I'm looking to get a canoe or kayak next season to fish out of. I don't know which I should go with. I'm not trying to spend a grand. Looking to spend around 500-600 bucks. I fish mostly small, deep, clear quarry lakes around me. I also fish the Delaware River and Neshaminy Creek. Looking for something stable, I don't have to stand up but it would be nice since I'm 6 foot 6. Looking for something with storage and a couple rod holders. Although I could add them later. I plan on hooking up a fish finder and small trolling motor eventually. I drive a Mazda 3 so transportation has to be taken into account. Need something I can strap to me roof. Any help, suggestions or idea would be appreciated. Or just show off your own Yaks and Canoes for me to check out. Thanks guys and have a great holiday.

How To Store Jigs?
I use normal Plano boxes. I have a problem sometimes though. Ill use a jig, when I'm done ill shake the water off it, remove the trailer and store them in the box. Sometimes when I go back into the jig box the rubber band that holds the skirt on is deteiorated and gone and the skirt falls off. What could be causing the rubber to rot away?

Different Types Of Topwater Baits
I agree with BlueBasser. I throw poppers if im fishing a specific piece of cover or over rocks too. Zara Spooks if im trying to cover water. Ive never had much luck with buzzbaits. I fish them but just never get any bites.

What Else Can I Fish For During These Cold Winter Months?
I live in Philadelphia. Its prett cold here now. Water temps are low and the bass aren't biting. What else can I fish for? I just want to catch fish. I own mostly all bass lures bt have small spinners, tiny hair jigs, tiny curly tail grubs on tiny jig heads stuff like that. Any suggestions on what I can go after Id appreciate.

What Am I Doing Wrong
Try a different knot. Make sure youre tying it right and always make sure to moisten the knot with some spit before cinching it down. I use a Palomar knot for everything and have never had a break off.

Any Tips For Fishing Small Quarry Lakes In Winter?
My grandfather uses them. He usually does pretty good when we fish. He mostly targets panfish with them but catches bass and catfish too. Ill check them out, thanks.

Any Tips For Fishing Small Quarry Lakes In Winter?
I fish mostly these small, deep quarry lakes north of where I live in Philly. Theyre very deep, clear water. The one lake is about 2 acres and has a lot of rock and broken up concrete along the shoreline. The other is about 4 acres and has very little shoreline cover. But theyre both really deep. The shore goes out about 10 feet and then just drops into darkness. I never fished them in the cold winter months so Im just looking for tips and ideas. Im fishing from shore too.

What Has Bass Fishing Done For You?
Bass fishing has done a lot for me. It helped save m life from addiction. 2 years ago I was completelyy addicted to painkillers, got up to Oxycontin before I quit. It was onlyy a matter of time before heroin came. So I went to a doctor and he helped me witth a medication that killed withdraw. Still my mind was a mess. Fishing helped me clear my mind, think about all the crappy things I did o friends and family just for a fix, and put the pieces back together in my head. It helped me to realise I'm not a terrible person, I just made a mistake and went down a bad road. We all make mistakes. It just really helped me mentally. Besides that bass fishing has taght me patience, something I had none of before I started fishing.

Your Choice?
Def the 12 pound largemouth. The PA state record largemouth is 11.3 pounds, and its almost 30 years old. So I would love to be the one to break that record. State record Smallie is 8.8 but id still rather have the largie.

Lets see your best.
Neshaminy Creek, PA. Caught on a Blue/Silver Rattletrap.

Admit It.....
X2 on that. Thought for sure that thing would catch something. Boy was I wrong. I was happy to lose from a snag.

Admit It.....
Ribbon tail worms are dynamite for me. Have you tried swimming them with a really light weight barely off the bottom? Just enough to get the tail going. Gets me tons of bites.
-
Favortite Shaky Head Worm/plastics
I really like a green pumpkin 6 inch Yum Dinger. Also a Boyd Duckett Juice worm. The ribbon tail really stands up off the bottom well. Ive been trying creature baits with a shaky head and really like a Sweet Beaver in Dirty Sanchez or California 420 color.
