"fishing Slow"
I agree with some of the other posts here in that its only fall and theres no need to slow down. This time of year I use my crankin and spinnerbait rod more than anything else. Fall is spinnerbait time!

This Is My Norm...
That fish was caught by Manabu Kurita out of Biwa Lake in Japan. The tape measure is metric so its in meters i believe. Theres actually an article about this catch in the latest issue of Bass Angler Magazine. It was caught on a Roman Made swimbait called "the mother."

Z-Man Chatterbaits.
Never had that issue with Chatterbaits. Try some thin wire and twist it around the skirt. That should hold it on.

Why Dont Pros Fish Bass And Flw Tournaments?
I know for a fact only 2 guys in history have won both the Classic and Forrest Wood Cup. I think one is David Dudley, forget the other. But yea Id imagine the logistics would be insane.

Why Dont Pros Fish Bass And Flw Tournaments?
How come you dont see guys fishing both circuits? Do they like have a contract with the leagues to only fish their tournaments? I know theres like 2 guys that have won both the Classic and Forrest Wood Cup but Im just wondering why more guys dont fish both. I get that theres a scheduling conflict but someone could always fish FLW one year and BASS the next couldnt they?

Z-Man Chatterbaits.
I strictly use the black/blue color and have been doing well on them this fall. Trailer wise I like using a Zoom Super Chunk in black or blue. Usually though i dont use a trailer at all. I usually fish it like a jig but theyre such versatile baits they can be fished like a jig or spinnerbait. And i use both methods a lot. Ive noticed lately since its fall a lot of baitfish skipping across the surface running from bass. So I tried casting out the chatterbait and burning it across the surface or just under. The blade flickers just like a fleeing baitfish. You gotta reel really fast but its a great technique when baitfish are fleeing from bass. Try it out!

How Long Before You Switch?
When i go out i bring 2 baitcasters and a spinning outfit. I check what the weather and such is going to be the day before and tie on some lures depending on those conditions. But i usually have a spinnerbait and jig on the baitcasters and a worm on the spinning. I would give each lure 10-15 casts in a given spot before changing.

Right Hand Fisherman: What Success In Reeling With Left?
I started fishing with spinning reels cranking with my left hand and when i went to baitcasters i just bought left handed reels so i could just keep cranking with the left. For me personally i want the rod in my strong hand for feel and strength in setting the hook. There is a reason to why guys switch and i read it here in a post by someone. On a spinning outfit the rod is what brings in the fish and the reel is just meant to pick up the slack, hence the pull, reel up slack, pull reel up slack when bringing in a fish. On a baitcasting outfit the reel is where the power is and is used as a winch basically. So thats why guys reel with their right hand because the power is in the reel. Me personally i like to crank with my left hand no matter what. Its just a matter of preference.

Spinnerbait Trailer
Experiment and try different things. Ive used creature baits as trailer on SB's with success even. You can use anything really. Sometime a straight kind of trailer is key with little action, sometimes something with kicking legs like a grub or creature is better. Just try different things and let the fish tell you what they want. As far as trailer hooks go I would start without one and use one only if you notice youre getting short strikes. Ive noticed lately and actually made a post about how sometimes if you have a trailer hook on and the fish gets hooked by the main hook the trailer can bounce around in their mouths and poke their gills and make them bleed profusely. So start without one and put one on if youre getting short strikes.

Shaky Head Jig?
Yea man, if youre in an area thats not too snaggy theyre dynamite. Obviously theres better choices around weeds and rip rap but for a generally flat bottom you cant go wrong with the spot remover. And i love that most hook ups are in the roof of the mouth. I feel like its harder for them to throw the hook when its hooked up there.

Jig And Pig?
Craze? Jig n pig has been catching bass forever. Its hardly a craze. If you want to catch big bass go with a jig. Cant go wrong with tried and true black and blue. Try a small jig with a big trailer and vice versa. Any jig will catch you fish in the fall. Try to match colors with the local forage or like i said you can never go wrong with black and blue.

Cold Fronts In Fall
I read somewhere on here that cold fronts in the fall can actually be helpful. Thos first few cold fronts drop water temps to where bass are very active and aggressive. Its funny cause here in Philly we had two cold fronts pass through. One Friday one Saturday and temps dropped to the 40's and this morning(Sunday) I had one of my best days this year. Caught 2-4 pounders all day on spinnerbaits. So in the fall they can sometimes help.

Spinnerbait Trailer Hook Problems.
Yea i think so too. I might as well not use a trailer hook since im catching them all on the main hook. They have been crushing them so they pretty much hook themselves.

Spinnerbait Trailer Hook Problems.
So today I was at the quarry fishing a white/chartruese spinnerbait. The bass were crushing it. Caught a bunch of 2 pounders, and a few 3+ pounders. My issue is that when I caught the bigger fish i caught them by the spinnerbaits hook, not the trailer hook and when i got the fish in they were bleeding a lot from the gills. Weighed em, snapped a pic and got them right back so they were ok. I couldnt figure out what was causing the bleeding. I think because they were hooked by the main hook while they were thrashing around the trailer hook may have poked them in the gills or something. Anyone else have this issue? Like I said the fish swan off peachy keen but Im curious if anyone else has experienced this.

Favorite Worm
No contest. Hands down the 5 inch Yum Dinger is my favorite worm. Its caught me more fish than I can count. And I might be the only guy that prefers them over a Senko. The action and wiggle is the same but you get more for your money and they last longer. Plus they have a little indent for texas rigging. After that it would be the Havoc Boyd Duckett Juice Worm, a ribbon tail. Always have those two worms on me at all times when im out.

Shaky Head Jig?
I too have recently got into shakey head fishing. Seems some people dont like them but I use the Spot Remover Pro Model with the screw lock and theyre dynamite in my opinion. The way they make plastic worms and creature baits stand up vertically on the bottom is awesome. And almost every fish i catch is hooked in the nose due to the way the hook is positioned when its standing up. I love them things.

Spot Remover Jig Heads.
Yea im using the pro model with the screw lock. Used them for the first time yesterday at my local quarry lake with great success. Used a 5 inch green Yum Dinger and a Sweet Beaver. Used just as Tom said. Letting it hit bottom, shaking a few times then hopping it a foot or two and repeating. Caught 4 fish using that technique. Used spinning gear with 8lb mono. I didnt have any hook up problem. The strike was just a light tap followed by the line moving. Instead of reeling up the slack and setting the hook i used the slack line hookset. Just left a little slack and snapped the rod up and hooked up every time. Love these things!

Spot Remover Jig Heads.
I just recently bought a pack of Spot Remover jig heads from Cabelas after a buddy told me they work great on the quarry lakes we fish. Has anyone had much experience with these? How do you fish them? Where do you fish them? What worms work best with them? I fish Yum Dingers and Havoc Boyd Duckett Juice Worms(ribbontail) a lot. Are these good worms to use? Any info is greatly appreciated.

First Lure
I just recently got into twitching weightless flukes on the surface or just below really early in the mornings right before and as the sun pokes over the horizon and man theyre awesome. Fish cant stand that erratic twitching action.

First Lure
Depends on the situation. But usually i start topwater and go down from there. Always have a Zara Spook, spinnerbait, crankbait, jig, and a worm.
