South FL?
Hey guys, just wondering if the peacock bass survived that last cold blast. I hope to get down that way and try to get one someday.

BPS 2010 catalog?
The new catalog is a bit dissapointing. It does not contain much new tackle and the lure section seems like it is getting smaller. It feels like they are expanding clothing and other items. Anyone else notice?

Rod storage lid?
The lid on my rod locker in my boat, when open stands just slightly past vertical. The problem is if you bump it or have wave action it will fall shut. I have snapped two rods and smashed my hands several times. I want an automatic way it can stay open until I want it shut. I thought about those gas rods used on a hatchback car or van, or some type of spring loaded hinges. The lid is fairly heavy and I need a solution that will hold and not be in the way of getting rods in and out. I looked through the aisle at Home Depot but no real help. Any Ideas or help is greatly appreciated. Thank You

To Refinish or Not to Refinish used modern lures???
I think it is kind of a toss up. They may get used to your lures no matter what fancy paint is put on them. Sometimes a new lure or an old lure they have not seen can get a bite. If you can save money, fix up some lures that you have confidence in, that may also be just what you need.

New for 2009
I mostly fish senkos, worms & Ikas. This year I had good luck on soft paddletail swimbaits, hard wakebaits, and flukes. The topwater bite was also good this year mostly on the pop r.

depthfinder ?
I have heard some of the Pros say that once you locate some fish, a school, some good structure you should turn off your depthfinder. The sonar signal is easily detected by fish and it can spook them or shut them down. I know a TM can sure alert them, but is the depthfinder really a problem?

lure testing?
1. When you hit the lake do you throw what is already tied on because it worked last time, or do you change because it is new conditions and things are a bit different? 2. Have you ever just opened up your entire lure arsenal and tried each lure for a couple casts just to mix it up, test stuff out and maybe even have sucess on something different? (My answer) 1. I almost always throw what is tied on at least a few times first. (My answer) 2. On slow days a have tried everything in the box, including stuff I forgot I had. It can be fun to see the different actions and gives you an excuse to keep fishing.

best lure when bass are boiling
If they were busting that good, they should have hit anything thrown in that area. When they are in frenzy mode you can catch them with a bent beer tab. I would question if it was truly bass hitting shad. If so, a topwater, fluke or wake bait in shad color should be the ticket. It is also important to match the size of your bait to the shad in the area. Good Luck.

favorite fluke?
I have tried many brands, But I always return to the zoom super fluke. Whats your favorite?

Shallow shad rap
Great idea Randall, I have taken and shaved off the lowest portion of the lip, (the horizontal part) and it also wakes pretty good. Your idea may be easier.

Shallow shad rap
I know these have been around awhile and they look good for waking or shallow over weeds. They come in many sizes including the "super" at 5.5 inches. Anyone use them or have any info.

Zoom Swimming Super Fluke
The bait monkey is calling. I need some of these. Gotta love them flukes.

Circle Hooks For Wacky Rigging
I tried the circle hooks and special wacky hooks, but did not like them. The bass around here would swallow it all before you could feel it or set the hook. I went back to ewg for wacky and now hook each one right in the top lip.

Glidin rap & twitchin rap
Has anyone had any luck on these baits? The Glidin just looks like a larger version of the twitchin rap? They look kind of interesting. Thanks.

modifying cranks?
Does anyone change the depth or wobble of cranks or jerkbaits by heating and bending the dive lip, or grind off the lip in ways to change the action? I have been wanting to do some experimenting, but with the price of lures I can't afford to mess up too much. Anyone want to give up their modification secrets? Thanx.

wake baits?
FBL, where do you get a H20 wake bait? I cannot find it listed anywhere. Who makes it and who sells it? I have never seen or heard of it.

Beginning of fall rocks!
It does not matter if it is still hot. It is the hours of daylight that trigger them to start eating heavily for winter. It was record heat last week and they were eating shad in shallow water as fast as possible. Good time of year for fast action.

battery ?
Thanks Hot Rod. It gets very hot to the touch, where my starter battery is just warm. I think it my have a shorted plate. I will take it to get tested.
-
battery ?
When I charge my tm battery it gets very hot. It does not seem to hold a charge as well as it used to. Is it bad or is that normal? Thanx.

What are you looking for in a sales associate.
Just check to see if we need help. Know where all your products are located, even when they get moved. Have some knowledge of items you don't carry. Know when new product is arriving. Know about the fishing waters and current conditions in your area. Keep up on the bite and what is working during different seasons. Don't lie. If you do not know, just say so. These things help carry a conversation and will benefit new or unseasoned anglers and will help someone in a hurry or a guy looking for a particular bait.

Sorry Dean Rojas

Heddon punkinseed?
So what's the deal? These lures go for $30 and up on ebay. Are they really good fish catchers or do people just collect as many as possible? I have been wanting to try one, but refuse to pay that much. Anyone have any info on the popularity? They do resemble a small panfish.
