  1. I believe the original rapala minnow was on the scene first and is much more popular. Are there any areas or conditions where the original Rebel minnow will out produce the original Rapala minnow? Your thoughts.
  2. I think it depends on a couple of factors: 1. Topwater or subsurface, on topwater they see the bottom of the lure and maybe the sides depending on conditions. Subsurface depends on the speed of retrieve, if it zips past they do not get a good look and often just react. 2. Sky conditions, bright or overcast will change how well they could see the paint job and colors change with light conditions and depth. 3. Wind, wind and waves will break up outlines and reflect differently near the surface. 4. Water clarity, colors and flash are different in clear, stained or muddy water. I really like your question and am interested in what others have to say.
  3. I thought the governor signed a law to save Rodman last summer.
  4. I agree with @TOXIC. Throw all that extra electronic crap that is going to break or is already useless and give me a reliable vehicle that starts and runs everytime I need it. All the bells and whistles will not help move you down the road without a good powertrain.
  5. In my opinion, these things on vehicles should be discontinued and the engineers behind them need to be questioned. 1. Rubber timing belts. On an interference engine, if that belt breaks, kiss your engine goodbye. Most have gone back to timing chains and when maintained, will last the life of the vehicle. I for one, do not want to worry about a belt breaking and have to remember to change it on time. 2. Auto stop/start. It has been proven it does not save fuel or emissions. Most people turn it off every time. It also adds wear and tear to your battery and starter if you use it. 3. Cylinder deactivation. Having a cold cylinder working next to a hot one is a recipe for disaster. Warping on heads, blocks, and uneven wear on piston rings is very bad. Some still use this, though it has been tried many times in the past by several manufacturers. 4. Lane keeping assist. If you need this, you probably should not be behind the wheel. 5. TPMS. Why have a battery powered sensor in your tire, that you cannot change the batteries? The batteries only last 5-7 years. That light on the dash gets annoying. Just check your tire pressure each season. A tire pressure gauge is your friend and only cost a few bucks instead of new sensors, which requires a day at the tire shop and about $50 per tire. 6. Radar assisted cruise control. It seems to make you slow down or speed up constantly around traffic which is the opposite of the idea behind cruise control. 7. Sensors in the windshield. It works. but when you need a new windshield $$$$. Plus it needs to be reprogrammed = $$$$. 8. I am old school, but I still like a key to start and lock a vehicle. Keys still function when they get wet and there is no battery to die and replace like the fob. 9. Electric parking/emergency brake. I prefer the hand pull or foot push much better. The electric has been known to break and stay in the on position. Anything to add to the list?
  6. I have had good luck with their soft stick baits and worms. They also have alot of colors to choose from.
  7. Check out Bitters bait and tackle. Good prices on bulk soft plastics. https://www.bittersbaitandtackle.com/
  8. I know it was a trap game, but you take what you can get. Phins up!

Which one performs better the thin kind of pencil shaped one or the teardrop larger version? I believe the new ones are plastic and the originals were wood. Are the wooden ones better? Any color preference? What type of retrieve do you use? I rip it like a jerk bait then long pause. Sometimes they will come up and investigate, or swipe at it, but not commit. Any devils horse experts want to share their secrets? Thanks.

I have a hard time believing anyone alive can truly think that nuking the plants and water is the right answer. Those chemicals will affect everything up the food chain, including us at some point. I am sure fertilizers and runoff is the culprit, but adding more chemicals does not make it right. I am sure before we were here, mother nature controlled the weed population just fine.
  11. I like that pass intereference penalty. 2 teams that play hard for 3 hours should not have the outcome of the game come down to one penalty that gives a team the entire field.

How come so many of those early baits were red and white? Did they just have alot of red and white paint left over from some industry? Maybe, way back then they were really on to something. 🤔
  13. I know I am late to the party, but finally caught one on a Deps Cover Scat today. I really did not know how to fish these things. I was just kind of hopping it off the bottom in about 10' of water and letting it drift back to bottom. It suddenly felt heavy and I set the hook. Nice fish. How do most of you retrieve these turd baits? Hop, drag, reel in slowly? I also caught my first bass on a Karashi on BFS, so, I am calling it a win today.
  14. Never tried it, but maybe some car wax and a small buffing wheel on a dremel.
  15. Bulldog those reels are beautiful and you can see they are well cared for. I believe the gold one is a millionair. That is the one I use for spinnerbaits.
  16. I agree, back in the early 1900's when these team names were produced no one was trying to be derogatory or hateful. It was to honor history and the native people of this land. Some tribes do not like the names, but many do. It is a way to keep them and their ancestors, remembered and honored by all.
  17. When do you use a round reel instead of low profile? Personally, I use a round reel for large baits and also for spinnerbaits, not sure why, but it seems to work for me.
  18. The big fish seem to always take the best shade or ambush spot. Best dock, best laydown, best weed patch or whatever you have. Like above, some lakes just do not have many large fish, due to food source, fishing pressure, predators, etc.
  19. Before I retired, my job allowed me to talk with many tourists from Europe and S America. They all stated that they would go to an NFL game just because it was a curiosity, something new and different. They would never be diehard fans because soccer, (what they call football) is their #1 sport and that will not change.
  20. I lost a Kerashi last week and last month lost a Pompador. The Pampador floats but the line snapped on the cast and it orbited the moon and I lost it on re-entry. The wind kicked up and I could not see it floating in the waves. I probably spent an additional 10 bucks in gas searching for it, but never saw it again.😭
  21. This is not meant to throw shade or be at all political and if deemed so, mods please remove it. Now do not get me wrong, I love the NFL. Been watching it since a was an infant on my dads lap. I just feel some of the more recent changes, and some of the rules are a bit off. On to rules,- again my opinion 1. Pass Interference should not be a spot foul. This rule means if a guy didn't hit a hand or grab some jersey that the receiver definately would have caught the ball. Not true. How many times have you seen a guy wide open drop a perfect pass? Happens almost every game. No other sport do you get everything handed to you because of one foul. I do believe it should be a major penalty of 25 yards, but not the whole field. Many times the ball is not even catchable, foul or not. A single penalty should not decide a game. 2. 12 men on the field should not be called if the guy is running off and is only a step or 2 away from the sideline. He is not looking at the field and will be off the field before he could impact the play anyhow. 3. I do not think the tush push, or (whatever your team calls it), should be a legal play. It is not football, more like rugby. It has been shown O linemen jump early, and the line judge cannot see where the ball is or where to spot it. I am sure there are more rules I find questionable, but i will leave it for now. I hope this thread just becomes a fun talk for football fans. I know we are passionate, please do not become heated or aggressive. I love football and will watch no matter what. Add your thoughts, now back to Bass Fishing.
  22. I believe I have lost my original floating Rapalas. Are the new ones you buy today as good as the ones you purchased many years ago? I may need to add one to my next order.
  23. Many younger people are more into their life on their cellphones and would rather do their fishing and hunting on a gaming system, instead of going outside.
  24. It is time to go back through the tackle and decide what to keep in the boat and what stays behind. If you are a tackle junky, like most of us, you probably do this chore as well. I look at the stuff in my boat and think if I fished every second of the rest of my life I would never even get to half of this stuff. Lighten the load, be more efficient, take inventory, etc. The hardest decision is what lures to cull. (I may need that one someday.) I will force myself to downsize the arsenal. Sad truth is, I will buy more and have to do this chore again soon. So how do you decide what gets voted off the boat? Past results? Cost of the lure? Colors? Something else? It is truly a depressing task and a sickness. Bad monkey!
  25. Years ago, the Yamamoto fat ika. Like a senko, not exciting to fish, but catches them. I need to get back to them, have not used one in years.
