  1. Many tires rot from the inside out over time. You can't visually see the damage. I believe they say 7 years is the safe zone. I am no expert and I am sure others will chime in.
  2. I'm in the club. I used to jump up in the truck, over the tailgate, shimmy down the trailer tongue to unhitch the boat. All of this just to stay dry and look like a real captain. Now, I just walk into the water. Easier and safer if you watch your step. Whoever called it the golden years was stupid!
  3. Had some repair problems on our tow vehicle and used 3 different vehicles until repairs were done. Same boat/trailer, but different tow vehicles will throw you off some. Had to relearn each time.
  4. With that much money tied up in boats and houses, you can bet its either old money or borrowed money. Unless, their full time work involves unlawful selling of pharmaceuticals or bank robbery. 🤣
  5. I don't really see a problem. He with the most toys wins! Just do like I do, move the stuff around so it looks different. 😉
  6. RIP Rolo, You always had helpful tips and great insight. You will be greatly missed🙏.
  7. Evertime I get a day to go fishing, It is the most windy day of the week!☹️
  8. 1/2 oz spinnerbait 5 inch senko zoom trickworm choppo/plopper spook or similar popper bladed jig soft swimbait/kietech or bigEZ hard jerkbait 1/2 oz lipless
  9. Love the old legend guys you could watch on Saturday mornings. Many of them listed above. They could break down a lake, find a pattern and catch some nice fish without all the electronic screens of today. The young guys on tour are not as impressive. They grew up playing video games and just because they can read a monitor and cast to each spot on a screen does not make them elite anglers. Without their electronics, they would be lost. In my opinion, modern electronics changed the sport and not for the better. I compare it to - fishing vs harvesting. I feel we have way too many screens in our lives. Fishing should be a safe retreat from the electronic world and get intouch with nature. I think it would be interesting to have two pro tours one with electronics and one without to see the differences and which would be more popular with spectators. I would rather watch a guy fish, than stare at a screen. I know I could learn much more from one of the old legends.
  10. I would have to say @A-Jay. I have never caught a smallmouth and it would be like starting over. He catches tons of the beautiful bronsebacks and many giants. Fishing in deep clear water is way out of my wheelhouse. Plus his arsenal is out of this world. With all those catches, I do not know how he makes it through those long winters of hard water. The pictures he has posted, proves he is a world class angler.
  11. It sounds good in theory, but I am afraid it is just a pipe dream. I like to try stuff from all different companies, everyone is a bit different, colors, sizes, sink rate, etc. Having different toys to play with is part of the fun, and also modifying all the stuff adds even more fun.
  12. I throw the bangolure quite a bit, both with and without prop. I change out the trebles to Mustad kvd triple grips and remove the center treble on on all my jerkbaits. I do not notice any difference in bites, landing fish, or any problem with lure action. With only 2 trebles it is easier to unhook the fish with less damage to them and to me.
  13. I have tried many different brands of 2-stroke synthetic oil. I have settled on Pennzoil XLF. Works great, been using it for years now and it seems to smoke less than the others I have tried.
  14. What really chaps my hide is people that boat flip the fish, let it jump around on the hot deck, take pictures of it no matter the size, weigh each fish, then release. That is too long. Stick to that 30 second rule. Only take photos if she is above average. No one wants to see photos of your dink fest. If you are a true angler, you should be able to feel the weight or estimate close enough, Nobody cares unless you are in a tournament. Take care of the fish, after all that is what this whole sport is based on.
  15. I have several kinds of bait scent, but normally I kind of forget about using it. If it is slow, I will look for anything to help out and then get to using some scent. Not sure if it helps, seems to work sometimes. I like megastrike, baitfuel, and JJ's. Put JJ's on soft plastic and it will still smell like an Italian kitchen several days later. It doesn't wash off. Just don't spill it or let it boil out on a hot day, unless you truly love garlic.

Wow so many with great recommendations, I can already see the bait monkey looking for my wallet!

I normally use the Kietech fat impact. Now it seems everyone has some type of soft swimbait in many sizes and colors. What brand have you used and how were using it successfully? What others would you recommend that catch bass? Thanks.
  18. I would love to shop small local shops and used to all the time, but big chains took over and wiped out most of them and Covid took care of the rest.
  19. I just take out my cellphone and have the water safety number on speed dial. Take down the boats license numbers and description and report them. They probably won't do anything, but it makes me feel better.
  20. I agree the answer is both. The big girls are kind of different. They have become larger/older because they learned how to stay hidden and away from predators and anglers. They normally do not school, and are kind of loaners. They shy away from noise and movement. When I think of big bass, I can't help but think of Doug Hannon. He caught over 800 double digit bass. He did not have a giant bassboat, no powerpoles, no FFS, no depthfinder, and rarely used a trolling motor. He used a paddle or a push pole for stealth in a padded tin john boat most of the time. He got back into places most would not try to fish. RIP. Doug
  21. 1. Wake boats that give off a sunami at the back of their boat. 2. Reckless jet ski operators 3. Other boaters in general, on the lake and at the ramp. 4. Hitting an underwater stump or running aground in shallow water. 5. Storms/Wind/Lightning 6. Engine won't start when you are miles from the ramp, no one is around, and losing daylight rapidly. 7. Tow vehicle breaks down and you do not dare leave your rig on the side of the road due to thiefs. 8. Tire blows out on truck or trailer at highway speeds, real pucker factor. 9. Buddy rips treble hooks into you on the backcast. 10. Falling overboard, - cold in winter, drowning, or possible gator attack if in the deep south. 11. A great hookset that sends a bullet weight into any part of you. (Just off the top of my head, I am sure there are many more) (after fishing for many years, some of these have happened to me and it ruins your fishing trip). 😬
  22. I fished a couple small club tournaments when I was younger. It just had too many negatives for me. 1. turned fun into work 2. had to be out all day with no breaks 3. hated seeing bass kept in a live well all day, shoved into a plastic bag, weighed and hopefully released still kicking. 4. had to fish where and at what speed the boater wanted. 5. had to go even in questionable weather.
  23. If you wanted to get a glide bait and could only afford one which would you choose? Why? Does anyone have any good experiences with these? Thanks.
  24. I think most have already been mentioned, but a few I remember when looking through my dad's 3-tray tacklebox when I was a kid, which I did all the time. 1. creme worm with prop on the front 2. Lazy ike (great for pike) - also similar he had a flatfish 3. Creek chub pikie minnow. 4. hula popper and jitterbug 5. Paw paw Underwater minnow dual props 6. Bass oreno 7. Heddon lucky 13 8. Cordel spot Great memories!
