Last time I allow this guy in front!
That guy is normally not fishing, but rides on my back, begging me to buy more fishing gear!

Favorite snacks while fishing?
Fruit chews, granola bars, maybe a snack size bag of chips, several propel waters and a diet soda. Sometimes I eat, other times I don't. I always drink the waters, it's too hot out. I normally drink the soda on the way home.

I am the most serious non serious fishermen!
I especially like the last part of Susky's original post. "Coming home safe". With the crazy distracted drivers on land and water, the over crowded boat ramps, crazy people who think they own the lake, I sometimes become nervous or over cautious to even get out there.

@Susky River Rat You just described me perfectly. I am team Susky all the way. I am sure there must be more like us. Lets here it Bass Resource, chime in.

Will it survive?
I would say that fish has already thrown that hook. I have read many studies done on this. One was a state biologist who tried several bass hooked cleanly in the mouth area, no vitals or deep hooked fish, he had them in a huge clear tank. In less than 2 days, all fish had disloged the hooks and seemed unharmed. I do not remember where I read this, but I believe it was in Bassmaster magazine several years ago. This same situation has happened to most bass anglers, I just figure that things will work out the way they were intended. If you land it, and it is mortally wounded, take it home and eat it, or remove the hook and release it and something in nature will consume it. It sucks, but it is an unfortunate possibility in our great sport. I like to believe that most anglers do their best to do a quick catch and release to preserve the sport.

Harder to find
Is that a special size or color? There is still a few around, but maybe not what you are looking for. I think Storm makes that now, but could be different than originals. TW has the1/4oz on sale. Luhr Jensen always had a kind of secret cult following in some areas.

SPORTSMAN'S WAREHOUSE SALE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE???
If all these scammers took their time, computer knowledge, money, and effort and used it for good, the world would be a much better place.

What did I do wrong?
I found fluoro very brittle and unforgiving. The knot must be perfect and that fluoro line is hard enough to cut itself. I Had a few experiences like you described. I threw out all my fluoro and never looked back. I have not had that mysterious line break since leaving fluoro. I know many on here love it, but I have no regrets leaving fluorocarbon line.

Mistakes you made early on.
Locking down the drag, been there. I also thought every lake was like the stocked pond that Bill Dance caught a six pounder on every cast on his TV show.🤣

Mistakes you made early on.
What mistakes did you make early in your bass fishing that probably cost you some money and some lost quality fishing experiences? 1. I started as a kid and spent my money on a bunch of short 5 to 6 foot pistol grip rods. I thought they looked cool and would easily fit in the car. Never really thought that they do not cast far or load up correctly. Today most of the rods I use are in the 7 foot range. I think I may still have those short rods stored someplace. 😒 2. Spent what little cash I had on cheap knock off baits, from Kmart, Walmart, etc. instead of saving up for more quality stuff. Despite these setbacks, I still caught some nice bass.

Supreme Ultimate bunks
Everyone who has installed the supreme ultimate bunks with the aluminum channels on them. How are they holding up long term? Any issues being too slippery? Do you recommend them? I have a 16 foot fiberglass bass boat and my bunks are going to need replacing soon. I would like to get these and not have to worry about bunks ever again. I launch by myself most of the time so making it easier as I age may be beneficial. They are kind of expensive, so I am on the fence. Convince me to pull the trigger or talk me out of it. Thanks.

drive way for boat material?
You seem to be on the right track. I am not sure of your neighborhood, but rocks attract kids who like to throw them. Lawmowers may also throw rocks, if any end up in the yard. Maybe a coarse sand which would drain well and provide a packed surface.

do you dress like a fisherperson?
Not fishing: camo shorts and a t shirt ( 1/2 the time, bass or related tshirt) Fishing: camo shorts and a long sleeve spf light weight fishing shirt. Regardless: wife says I look homeless.

Beetle Spins
A great little bait that probably turned many young kids into bass anglers. Not even sure I have any, but would love to try those again.

Vintage lures you remember in your dad's tacklebox...
My dad's tacklebox was my favorite toy as a kid. I could look through those old lures for hours thinking how cool they look. Mom would yell, he's going to get a hook in his hand. Dad would reply, only once, then he will be more careful. Dad's tacklebox had daredevils, red eye spoon, lazy ike, flatfish, bass oreno, hula popper, jitterbug, rooster tails, mepps spinners, jelly worms, pikie minnows, crappie jigs, and more. That started my passion, though most of my early fishing was worms and bobbers. That picture of the lazy ike by the OP reminded me of dad's. He had a beat up perch colored one that was a northern pike magnet.

Where have you bass fished?
Those first 2 are worlds apart from the last 3. I guess it proves a bass is a bass no matter where you go.

Where have you bass fished?
I know some of us have lived in one spot our whole lives and that is cool, others have moved around, and still others travel all over. What states or areas have you bass fished? If your list is not too extensive, list the states, - If it is extensive list areas such as NE, SE midwest, Plains, NW, SW, etc. If you live or travel outside the states please play along and share. I will start: South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Florida.

Popular lures/equipment that you don’t like - and vice versa
Popular, but don't like: Fluorocarbon line, tried it, don't like it. Large baits, have some, but no luck, always feel like I am going to scare the fish away. A-rigs, just feels wrong, no luck yet. under-rated: underspins - work, but don't hear much about them. spinnerbaits - work, but never see anyone else throwing one. Small lures/ BFS, these will catch all sizes and many bigs.

"Big" bass
I would say 4lbs and up is a big bass. We have some really large fish around, but in reality few are caught, except for the live shiner guides, pros, and the fortunate that fish every day.

Bimini top recommendation?
I had one, but removed it. It was always in the way. Hit it, snag it, just did not really work for fishing. If there was even a light breeze, you now had a very fast sail boat. The relief from the summer sun was nice, just not practical for bass fishing.

Length of the Average Fishing Trip
I would guess I average about 3 hours on the water. I am too lazy to get up early, and later it gets real hot. It also depends on driving time and if I am catching them.

Anyone else reconnecting with mono?
I never left. I find mono to be that perfect spot with just enough stretch and good abrasion resistance. I have never found fluoro to my liking. It is too brittle and snaps easily, also the knot must be perfect or it will cut itself. No thanks. I mostly use braid to mono and use straight braid for soft plastics. I use straight mono for topwater.

TW account messed up
Don't get me wrong I am a huge TW fan and have spent more there than I should have, I just wish I could keep a login with them.

TW account messed up
This is the third time my TW account has gotten messed up. It keeps saying my login & password is incorrect. They have not changed in the last 2 years since the last time it did this. I called them and they said just create a new account with your next order. Great, but I lost my wish list and now have to try to recreate it from memory and a new order is not in my near future. Seems like a problem with their server. Curious, Has anyone else had this happen?
