In the fall we used to use big chubs and fish the lifts in the river. We caught them up till ice. Big baits worked good till the water dropped in temp below about 50. Or maybe even try suckers

Mine was a black scoundrel t rigged. Started worm fishing a lot after that. But went to culprit tequila shad after that. Plastic worms still slay em today.

Still use my Abu for jig fishing and Carolina rigs. Bought a new one this year. Still have a lot of peer in em .

Kalins 1/8 ounce

I always use 1/8 ounce black or brown. Smallies tear em up.

Hair jigs Vmc,Kalins or Yankum tackle. Straight out and straight back with out a lot of action. Slow steady retrieve works best. Float and fly you won’t really ever get hung. Weightless flukes or Hair jigs. Hair kills in cold water. Plus the float and fly is a great option in cold water.
