  1. It may be a show designated to some instruction with the occasional inundation of advertisements. However he keeps me entertained with his goofy maneurisms (including plenty of out takes) and he is also smart. I even have one of his books that I thoroughly enjoy.
  2. It was mentioned on this site not too long ago. I'm talking about ponds and other smaller bodies of water that eventually lose the bite. A friend of mine and I found three nice ponds about 3 to 4 acres each. We started Fishing them about 2 years ago and when we started it was one fish after another every other cast just about. We gave them time to cool off about 1 to 2 weeks at a time throughout the year. Often times longer than that. As time progressed on they just about quit biting altogether aside from a dink or two here and there. We tried everything throughout the year as well as switching out the lures, presentation, etc. I am beginning to wonder if the Bass have officially realized that they either have lock jaw and would rather starve to death or officially recognize they are being targeted. There has been some studies where Bass in small ponds have been presented with a lure that they took every cast just about over a course of time. However an hour real-life scenario these ponds seem to just diminish an action. I told my friend that my opinion is that the pressure is too much for them with us fishing and the occasional other angler here and there. The first week it was discovered it was almost like the bass bit everything we threw at them because they never saw those lures before Has anyone else experienced similar?
  3. 10 Look at that belly. Long too
  4. To be honest it probably would take the fun out of the sport IMO. I have enough stuff to do on the water without messing with keeping up with logs.
  5. Glad to hear you enjoy the site. I get much info from here as well. Tight lines! Joe
  6. Cool! Thanks speedbead. ;-)
  7. Someone mentioned here that Bill Dance fishes "phosphate pits". What are they?
  8. Gotta love the Tennessee "T" ball cap. :--)
  9. Bill is still my favorite. He is down to earth and really catches some hogs! I love the "mule" episode. 13 pound monster!!!
  10. Take notes in a small note pad each outing. Then put it in an excel spreadsheet file named "fishing"
  11. True point made that he does push product and instruct on those bodies of water.
  12. +1 Bill !!! A specialty episode on Texas rigs about 5pm would be great for a dinner and a show. :-)
  13. He is a trip! He could fish my parents neighborhood pond off the bank and still be hilarious. Even when he is being serious, his manurisms are off the wall. :-)
  14. A guy I was talking to on the water pretty much said that Bill Dance fished local private ponds only. If you ever see his show or you tube videos, he said you only see his boat and no others. He said this is because he has permission to fish huge ponds that are stocked. He said if he went to a real lake that he would be humbled. Apparently he thinks that Bill catching several 5# and heavier bass per show has to be set up. I even heard before that he hires divers to bait his hooks. LOL. I guess haters gonna hate. Has anyone heard this to before?
  15. Yeah, I'm going to check the DVD and book section there in a few days. From what I remember, the last time I saw them there, even at regular price the DVDs at bps were cheaper and appeared more detailed. Oh well. I know now. Thanks Bill!
  16. Not knocking the series. Just sharing me experience. I signed up for the BASS DVD Library a few months ago. Basically, they send a DVD out every 4 weeks. It is decent, about 30 minutes long. The last few were coming to me about a week apart. Three to be exact. You can return the DVDs in something like 60 days (but you pay the $3 shipping). The price per DVD including the price to ship it to you is $27.44. I called to cancel today and the rep said they can offer me $12 per DVD at a rate of one every 10 weeks. Why didn't they do this to begin with? Simple. They want to make you pay $27 every week as long as possible. I went ahead and cancelled and am returning these last 4 DVDs. New bps is 15 mins from the house. I will get my DVDs as needed there for cheaper. Joe
  17. Tom, that reminds me of one of my college professors. He asked us if we thought pro sports was a sport or a job. Most were "jobs" due to hours put in, sponsor and media pressure, etc. He also said that college teams were more for sport. Basically the pros were vessels for advertising for their companies.
  18. Pro- Any of the people who competed in this years Bassmaster Classic. Let's go with these people for sake of this thread.
  19. I wonder at what point a pro can say, "well, I won enough money to keep this up and fish for a living"
  20. Classical conditioning has kicked in on this thread for me. I just saw the letters "PB" on my thread title and I found myself going into my kitchen to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. :-/
