  1. I guess it depends. I have a bunch of little cousins and nieces some are uber competive and play up and others just want to have fun and goof off. For example I have twin cousins. One is going to be all state in anything she does. The other plays all of the same sports but could care less. However when they are just shooting hoops in the driveway they are the same. I do think that we are losing our way a little bit by giving every jimmy and joe a trophy for showing up, or i guess I should say every Aiden and Jayden but that is another rant. I was super competive but i was the youngest of three and hated losing. They never let me win and that made me better. I will admit I am a snob on the golf course. I hate playing with bad players. In my one league if I get paired up with a bad team I just call someone and tell them to pick me up I am going to get drunk. If I am playing a good team I never drink and play balls to the wall. I guess to answer your question I think that it has always been this way. I think people are naturally self-motivated or not, however we just now except the people that don't care if they win or lose more.

  10. Just remember there are two types of motercycle riders, ones that have crashed and ones who will. Too many idiots on the road for me to be out there riding.
  11. buy a new headlamp
  12. As a person that has travel greatly, this does not suprise me. It is amazing how people act when they are not in there own town, state and country. Many act as if that gives them permission to be self indulgent, rude insert bad words here.
  13. I still have many friends that live there. I might try to go down for some races this year. It is only about a four drive sadly I have not been back for a couple of years. I can honestly say that Keenland in the spring is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
  14. I always used to do pushups and run in place between sets to get my heartrate up trust me when a big buck walks under your stand your heart will be popping out of your chest then focus on controlling your breathing I always shoot with both eyes as well also you dont have to shoot 70lbs remember it is much harder to pull a bow back after you have been sitting in a stand for 5 hours in 20 degree weather
  15. i have probably watched that a hundred times. It never gets old. I never was a horse a racing fan until I moved to Lexington Ky. I used to go to a bar after work where I met an elderly gentleman. He would stop in and drink a pint of beer and read the race forms. Turns out he was a deacon of the church. After many weeks of talking to him about racing and telling him that I have never seen the point of it. To me it was prehistoric nascar. Well the Keenland spring meet was coming up and he invited me to attend. So i just bet the exact same thing that he did.Well the first race was about to start so we walk to the rail. And they were off he remains calm explaining the positioning of the horses then on the back stretch this mild manner elderly deacon becomes someone else. He is screaming get up you son of run mother run. In my whole life I have never seen someone transform from an elderly deacon to a drunking cussing sailor. I knew if horse racing could make someone like this get excited that this was for me. I have loved it ever since. That and this man knew what he was doing. He had a job that paid over 100k a year and he told me that he has made more money every year betting horse racing then he did workiing. I just bet the same thing as he did and I can tell you that he was right. Although he always bet larger sums than me.
  16. If i had a time machine that is one of the things i would waste it on. i would have loved to have been there that secretariat ran
  17. Congrats. If I were you I would just catch dinks for the first few weeks. Leave the big fish for us healthy people.
  18. Good luck and get well soon
  19. First off it is nice to see someone your age actually planning ahead. I graduated with a political science degree and with my lsat got into any school I applied. A word of caution though, what people perceive to be an attorneys job is and what they actually do are two different animals. Most of your time will be doing reading research and past case law. For the most part it is an extremely boring job. I quit practicing after five years and entered the business world. With that being said, keep a 3.5 gpa, and take as many practice lsats as you can. If I had it to do again I woukd have gotten an accounting or finance degree. If for no other reason then it will help you with your business side of the practice, ie getting paid. Your undergrad has nothing to do with how you will do on your lsat Your lsat has nothing to do with what you learn in law school. Law school has little to do with the bar exam, other than it teaches you to write. The bar has nothing to do with the practicing of law. The practicing of law has nothing to do with how much money you will make. Law school is an enigma to say the least. It basically re teaches you to read and write. You actually learn very little law in law school. You learn how to read and interpret the law. The law is a living breathing thing that is ever changing and always up for debate. If you do not want to put 5 or 6 hours into reading and making notes every night then don't go to law school. I studied more my first month in law school then I did my entire undergrad career combined. My recommendation to you is for your first semester in college is to take your core courses and get an internship at a law firm and see if that is what you want to do for the rest of your life. I challenge you to do this. Go find five attorneys that are over fifty years old, still happily married and not a raging alcoholic. Sad to say my profession is not one of rainbows and lollipops that they make it seem on TV. Good luck to you young man, at least you are thinking ahead.
  20. He is full of BS If those words were true they would outlaw marriage
  21. I quit after two episodes Way too slow for me
  22. Don't do what my buddy did and drive yourself there to take the test. They frown upon that. Good Luck
  23. Bring on UK
  24. Well a little update. I am still off the booze. Have had a few drinks over the last few months. Never enough to get a buzz. Come to think of it have not had one at all this month. I have lost 30 pounds. I actually had to buy new clothes. Still cheat with a smoke on the rare occasion. I really want to give it up once and for all. I gave up diet pop and started eating healthy again. Now that I am doing that I am seeing great gains in the gym. My arms chest and back are bigger then ever. I am down to 180 pounds and would love to maintain that weight just want to cut fat and add muscle. It is so nice to have a natural confidence back without needing the crutch of liquid in a bottle. It has been a long last two months as I am caring for my mother while she is going through chemo. She is doing ok. She has more bad days then good but we are almost halfway there. She has actually been going to the gym with me and trying to maintain her strength. She also is eating healthier then ever. The decision to make a life change has not only saved my life I think that it has helped her as well. Mentally it is amazing how clear things can be when not layered in a fog of dependency. On a sad note, I found out who my true friends were vs bar buddies. My true friends have been great and we still hang out when we have time. My bar buddies well they stay at the bar. I still visit them from time to time. They seem to think that I am a mutant when I order a. Up of coffee and just sit there and sip it and not crave alcohol. I guess it is as foreign to them as it would have been to me just a few short months ago. I have found that my bar buddies are not as witty and fun as they once were. Now mostly I find them annoying. I actually see how I was to other people and it saddens me that I probably left that impression on people far too many times. Well enough of my ramblings. I just wanted to update you guys and thank you guys for the kind words of encouragement. I hope everyone has kept up with their goals. Get ready for the warm weather and tight lines.
