  1. WVU Get to go to the game Friday with some buddies.
  2. I am hoping polumolu retires a steeler and frees up cap space
  3. Of course Anyone that fly fishes that says they have not is not doing it right
  4. Now I know the time and location I might be able to help a little more. With the late winter we are having if you are there the first part of May the smallies might still be on the beds. They can be found in coves and off the points in 2 foot of water out to the ones that will be cruising in 15 feet of water. A shaky head with a 4 inch stick worm in watermelon motor oil or similar color can be effective for these baits. Once again jerk baits are killer. However smith mountain lake has a much greater largemouth density than smallmouth. Depending on when you are there in May and how soon spring arrives will determine your best options. The coves on the northern part of the lake should provide good opportunities for quality fish as well as skipping the numerous boat docks. I recommend you post this in the smallmouth section as well as the Regional forms for there are guys on here that fish Smith Mountain regularly and will be far more knowledgable than me. Good luck have fun and be safe.
  5. Nice Chinese restaurant you have here
  6. Yeah but remember it is 10 degrees warmer in the summer so they have to suffer through that
  7. Thanks for the thoughts on mom I guess I was just ranting about our weatherman thinking that it would be smarter to error on the side of caution and tell people to be prepared so they don't get stuck without supplies. Oh and I have not hit the library at WVU since I graduated 10 years ago Come to think of it I didn't hit it then.
  8. In my experience, if you want to catch smallmouth fish where the largemouth are not. I find that they usually do not occupy the same space. As far as colors go smoke purple tubes work great for me. Jerkbait I love pointers in the ms American shad
  9. Why is it that in this day and age can't local weathermen simply get online and look at European weather model map. It is so much more accurate then what we currently use in the US. Yesterday I was telling people to get their stuff done because we were going to get a major storm. Most of them continually said but the news is only calling for two to four inches. I told them that it would most likely be between 8 and 12. They all looked at me like I was nuts. The European model said the rain would switch to sleet from rain at 4 and to snow by 6. So I decided to get all of my supplies for the next week that I needed. Not that I would not be able to get out in the next day or so but I am taking care of my mom who is going through chemo. I always like to be prepared. But back to the point, you could have set your watch to the models forcast. When I woke up at 4 this morning we already had 8 inches on the ground and it is not supposed to stop until 1 this afternoon. What kills me is that I will watch the news here in about an hour and the local weather guy will act shocked and say the storm dumped unexpected amounts of snow. However the storm did exactly what it always was going to do. My question is why do we in the United states continue to use inferior data? Are they mandated to use their current models. I started using the European weather model years ago. PS. I just wanted to give a shout to the poster that forecasted this winter months ago based on the snow amounts in Siberia. He caught some flack for it but has been mostly correct. Global warming my butt
  10. Well I think that I am going to go with my buddy and drive a couple of hours to go to the launch monitor. Right now I am focused on the driver. I am looking at the titlest 915 the taylor made r15 and the cobra flyz. It will be interesting to use an adjustable driver for the first time.
  11. I agree with play the course for the most part but the money games I typically play in birdies and eagles is where the money is at. I have always been the longest guy in the group and used that to my advantage. I would usually get people out of their game by them trying to swing harder. I wish I could demo a bunch of clubs but have been snowed in for months. Demo days does not come to the course for a few more months. What clubs did you win that added distance. Thanks for your response.
  12. Thanks for response. I am not losing distance so much as everyone else seems to be catching up. I am still playing blades and just don't have the time to dedicate like I used to that is why I am looking at new clubs. I am thinking of going to game improvement irons. My driver is 12 years old and might as well be made out of wood. I just don't flush the ball like I used to and want more forgiveness on my miss hits.
  13. Although I love fishing my true love is golf. I am looking at getting a new set of clubs for this season. I play to a 7 handicap however as I am getting older I notice that I just don't have the distance advantage I once had. Where I used to be 10 to 15 yards longer with every club in the bag now guys are hitting it right there with me. My clubs that I am playing are 10 years old and like an extension of me. I was the never the guy that had to have the latest and greatest. I knew my game and thought all of this game improvement bs was just a marketing ploy. However over the last few years I feel that when I am on the course I might as well be playing hickory shafted clubs with a feather ball. I am just wondering what clubs you have bought in the last few years and if you could really tell the difference. I am looking to get two new wedges 54 and 58 degrees to go along with 3-pw a couple of hybrids a 5 and 3 wood and a new driver. I know that is over the limit for clubs but I rotate in and out of the bag depending on the course and conditions. If anyone actually took the time thanks and to any responses thanks again.

  15. Why did you shave your bait monkey
  16. I agree 100% I am actually happy that I am giving up my gut and gaining mental clarity quote name="A-Jay" post="1687363" timestamp="1422298897"]When one chooses to change their life style, instead of focusing on what one "Gives Up" there is great benefit when ones attention is directed at All That Is Gained. 17. Wow I am glad I checked in today. Like I said in the other thread I quit drinking and smokes. The first few days were hard but now I am excited to get back into shape. The reason I quit is mom got cancer. She was a smoker her whole life. I knew that I needed to quit and be a role model for her. I also knew that if I kept drinking I would cheat and smoke. Ultimately my love for my family was more then any beer or cig could give me. I am now in my thirties and wish I would have done this years ago.
  18. Gave up beer and smokes two weeks ago Started working out again Already lost ten pounds and feel better physically and mentally Since high school I probably never went more then three days without a beer Some weeks I would drink every day I always smoked more when I drank so when I gave up drinking the smokes were easy.
  19. Put the trolling moter up before you take off full steam ahead
  20. This might sound horrible because I grew up on a farm as a kid and played every sport and always gave 100 percent but you just can't do this anymore. The key to climbing the corporate ladder is is being the best B plus employee. You want to make yourself so valuable to the company that they have to keep you and keep you happy but not so good that you are a threat. A book I recommend everyone read is 48 laws of power. There is a bunch of BS in it but it does raise some good points. Glenn gave you great advise. I actually started keeping a journal. Just like fishing patterns will arise and you will be able to go back and read and see how situations played out. People are creatures of habit. Watch how they react to good and bad news record it and if you study it, it will give you insight on how to be proactive and stay ahead of the curve. For anyone that has ever been married they will attest to the fact that their are very few battles that you will win. At best you tie. Corporate is that way as well. Make sure you win the right ones and you are safe. My grandfather was a politician and he flourished on being the greatest loser I have ever seen. He was a councilman and when he knew something was going to lose he would vote for the losing side. The people loved him for it because he always was on the side of the little guy. For a poor preacher from West Virginia my grandfather was able to meet and talk with every president from JFK to Clinton. It is sad to say that if you have a good job just survive and adapt. Remember if you don't like it there is no better time to look for a new job then when you have one. Sorry for the rant
  21. Happy birthday thanks for having the best message board site on the net
  22. I complained to this to the guys at TW as well. After much time and consideration they will be offering a new wife option for their 2015 website.
