No. That is not a rage rig. It doesnt have to be a rage tail bait. As i said before, a rage rig is a way of presenting a bait..

What is silly is that you for some reason think a rage rig is swimbait hook....... A rage rig is simply USING weighted hook to present a plastic bait (in this case a rage craw) horizontally on a slow fall rather than vertically /w a traditional pegged texas rig. You can present a present a texas rigged rage craw /w a hook and a bell sinker attached to the hook in the same manner. This would still be considered a "rage rig,"

If you are insinuating the rage rig is asinine, your comaprison to the ball head jig doesn't make sense. If you are just asking for a different name for a ball head jig, I'm sure you're more than capable of using the search engine of your choice to crack that code.

Were you expecting unicorns to tow your boat too...
  5. A guy a work with does it and takes it to to a new level. He took me to one of his sites one time and I have no idea how anybody could ever find this hidden gem but it sure was crafty.
  6. I'm not sure if I have backplay or not in the handle. I switched handles on mine though. I've never noticed any play though. As for the grooving, I use 2 Tatulas, one for frogging and the other for punching. No grooving at all.
  7. I'm a Dobyns guy through and through. I personally feel they are some of the finest rods made and I'm never left wanting more while fishing them . I don't like Duckett rods at all. You're never going to hear me say "Dobyns are better than Duckett" because it isn't true. It's also true that Duckett isn't better than Dobyns. It's strictly an opinion based statement where nobody can ever be correct. Everything about this is opinion based and it just leads to silly arguments and backhanded comments. Listing a pro staff for a rod company is essentially pointless. It isn't as if he cherry picked the staff. People go where the money is. Case and point.... Complete opinion based statement. I think they are as good or even better than what I think. The different is you aren't going to hear me say "Duckett is overpriced garbage." I understand Gary had a big hand in developing Powell Max rods. I've also handled and fished multiple Powell rods. I don't agree /w your statement at all. Do you see how the only thing you're doing is instigating a never ending cycle of comments and opinions with only one true fact behind any of them...YOU like the rod... I'm sure you understand why I posted that .gif now.
  8. Good idea. FC line is less than ideal for topwaters

The rage rig consists of texas rigged the bait /w a weighted swimbait type hook.
  10. For those looking for the Curado I, Kruegerfarms.com should still have RH models in stock.
  11. Had the same issue with the same reel a couple years ago looking for a small stream trout reel. Tried 2 and gave up. Got the sahara instead. Buttery smooth reel.
  12. Dobyns 735c is the best frog rod ive used

Dobyns zayta!!! Sorry had to. This rods 3 icasts behind as is.
  14. Rods don't perform to their peak performance by utilizing their minimum rating. I throw 1/4oz trigs on the 744 but that includes + plastic. I should be specific about the 1/8 oz weight. IF and I mean IF and ONLY IF you are throwing a 1/8 or 1/16 oz weight + a SENKO then the 744 will be perfect. I can throw weightless senkos on the 744 no problem but i prefer the 743. if the plastic is anything but a senko like a trick work/rage craw etc, then the 744 will not a good choice for a 1/8 oz and less weight.
  15. 744 is way too much rod for those weights. I love the 743 for 1/8 oz trigs and weightless senkos.
  16. I know a ton of walleye guys that fish the 822 for the jig weights you listed. You will love it.

  18. I had a small crappie guarding his bed eat a magnum yellow magic popper the other day....
  19. I have the same frog rod. Great choice. I love it. Enjoy!
  20. Again....yes and no. Floating properties have very little to do /w using a mono vs fluoro on a spinnerbait. I didn't say anything about the floating properties causing a bait to ride higher in the water column or whatever you are thinking but in case you missed my first sentence I'll repeat it. Mono creates more drag which ultimately leads to the bait riding higher in the water column than when using the same # test fluoro.
  21. The stuff casted great. It had very minimal abrasion resistance. Did not use for very long
  22. I really walked right into that one. Well played sir.
