  1. Zebra mussels really are not a big deal if you just float your boat for a day of fishing. Just be sure to wash it in hot water and put a little bleach in the bilge area. biggest problem is frayed line that breaks easily. You need to use braid or at least abraisant resistant line. They are in several lakes in Kansas and will probably eventually spread to most of them. Milford ( I believe you posted you were herre last week) and Melvern in our area have them as well.
  2. Fished Wyco Wednesday morning, got there at 6:00 AM and fished until 10:00. Caught 12 bass. Nothing big mostly 13 to 14 inchers smallmouth and largemouth. They were out from the banks and a shakey head with a green pumpkin worm was their choice.
  3. But . . . . . . it is only August . . . . .
  4. No water from pee hole at idle I would think the impeller is worn and no water is circulating. Speed it up and the impeller moves faster then all the water does not bypass. I would replace the water pump.
  5. I wouldn't glue it, I would wrap some teflon tape or electrical tape on the shaft gears then press it into the hole. be sure to get it lined up right first.
  6. If it's a new boat under warranty I would contact the dealer about this issue. I don't believe the compartments should be soaked, maybe damp but not wringing wet.
  7. I would not do this unless you have muffs hooked to the motor. It is not good on the water pump impeller to run it dry.
  8. Anybody fished Perry lately? Think I will head over there Tuesday morning.
  9. Went to Wyandotte Lake this morning, Fished fro 6 to 10:30, was not great but OK caught several small (12 inch) LMB & a few smallies (largest 17 inches). Was a better day than I anticipated
  10. WOW, that sucks. I am planning on going out there Wednesday morning, sounds like might not be too productive. But still gotta go, haven't been on the water in over three weeks. Surprised it has gotten so low. Sure hope we get a rain storm soon!
  11. Maybe a little taller seat pole and it would be perfect !
  12. Pickup tube on back of transom looks like this, Check the hose to be sure it is not disconnected or damaged. another problem with these is the lower pickup is lower than transom and can get broken by brush etc, when fishing in trees in the water.
  13. Had a similar deal when I blew a brake wheel cylinder while towing the boat.......Kinda freaky using the parking brake to stop with. But I limped her home and made the needed repairs.
  14. He's a good friend and we do fish together occasionally, actually he used to work for me before I retired. He is one of the group that goes to Canada with me every June. We didn't need much in parts, just some scrap plate steel. biggest thing was welder and skill to use it.
  15. OK, good to go. Trailer all rewelded, better than new. Just need to reinstall the marker lights on the rear X member and ready to go fishing! Glad I have a good friend with the equipment, He wouldn't take any $$, guess I owe him a few lunches.
  16. I have caught a couple 3# there a few years ago. But you gotta be careful of the wind it can get really bad quick. Life jackets are a PIA so having an inflateable is a goood thing.
  17. Coffey County Lake is another good smallmouth lake. Be careful if it is windy, that lake can be rough. Haven't been there for years, I need to get back down there when the weather cools down.
  18. Scheduled my trailer repair for next Friday 7/27. That will be two weeks out of commission. Oh well, it's going to be really hot until then anyway.
  19. Well gonna be off the water a while, the rear x member on my trailer broke in the middle, luckily did not drop motor lower unit to the road! Called a buddy who has a good shop with lots of equipment so will limp it over there drop boat in his pond and see what we can do to repair the trailer. Hopefully I can catch him this week and get the trailer back in commission soon.
  20. I can't move it any lower or the handle won't clear the jack. Move the jack to the other side of the trailer or flip the winch over and the handle will be on the opposite side.

  22. Been to Wyco a couple times early morning then home around 10:00 trying to beat the heat. Hasn't been great but got a few mostly smallmouth.
  23. Fished WYCO Lake this morning from gate open to about 10:00 AM then it started getting HOT so home to the AC I went....... Caught several 12 to 14 inch smallmouth and a couple largemouth ...one went 15 ".
