  1. I have three WalMart batteries in my boat. Three years old and no problems with them at all. I would buy them again.
  2. I would think 6500 is too much for an eight year old 16 foot boat with a 60 hp motor.
  3. My boat has decal material along the sides and across the top plate of the transom. The material has started to fade across the transom, any one know what to use to brighten it up?
  4. You fishing Clinton Lake in Kansas or Illinois?
  5. Been going to Rainy Lake for the last 25+ years. Group of guys has changed over time due to jobs, death etc. Awesome time fishing 9 to 12 hours a day and hanging around the cabin with a cigar and beer in the evenings. Can't wait to get through the next 6 weeks to go again.
  6. Check this guy http://www.budsmotorsports.com/home
  7. I never disconnect mine, just charge and go fishing !
  8. Why not fill in some profile information so we can geet to know you better?
  9. I assume you are talking about Wilson's Cove (across lake from Marina). It is an old rock crusher left from when the lake was a rock quarry. Looks kinda crazy on the graph due to it being a machine.
  10. Interesting, Post results if you try this, I would be interested in trying it as well.
  11. I Agree ..........................Cabela's takes you behind the woodshed in hourly labor rates, don't know about Bass Pro's rates but I'm sure they're high just because they can be. Turn around at Cabela's is terrible too. .............. Denny, the guy at the boat house at Wyandotte is a wizard with older, smaller hp motors. I just went into Cabela's boat shop to get a couple wheel seals for my trailer and WOW . . . . . Denny Poeterfield at Wyandotte is a really good tech on the older stuff and reasonable.... he did some work for me on a late 80's 60hp Evinrude one time and really got her going. I would not be hesitant to take my stuff to US Boatworks, as I posted earlier they rebuilt my locked up Johnson and got it done in a week so I could make my smallmouth trip to Ontario.
  12. I have used US Boatworks in Kansas City, Ks down on Nineth and Osage. They did a coumplete rebuuild for me a couple years ago on a Johnson, quikck service and runs great still today. They work on all brands and they do boat engine work and not boat stuff. Reasonable prices as well. http://www.usboatworks.com/
  13. Grandpa's Advice I hope that this will once again confirm that the most important information in your life won't come from a teacher, the library or the internet, but from a mentor, and on a very personal level. My long-passed grandfather's birthday is coming up, and for me it is a time to reminisce. The long walks we used to take. The long drives. The special trips he would make to pick me up so I could spend weekends with him, and the advice he used to give! Much was wasted because I was young when he died. If he were alive today and sharing his pearls of wisdom, I'd be a better man. Those gems were well and good, but the one I remember most, the jewel in the crown of grandfatherly advice, came when I was on 12. We were sitting in a park, watching children and their mothers enjoying a beautiful spring day. He told me that one day, I'd find a woman and start my own family. "And son," he said, "be sure you marry a woman with small hands." "How come, Grandpa?" I asked. "It makes your ******* look bigger." Kinda brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it?
  14. Just wanting to find out. . . . . . Are there any old retired guys that read or post to this forum topic? Not that I mind the youngsters, heck I've learned quite a bit from reading their postings. I retired last Spring and would like to find someone close to my age that is retired and is able to go fishing about any time they want. Basically I'm lookiing for a fishing partner that lives close to Wyandotte County lake. I have a boat and would like to put someone in the back seat. If anybody is out there send me a PM and maybe we can get together this spring.
  15. Anybody know of a web site that gives ice conditions for lakes like Clinton, Perry and Hilsdale? Not to ice fish but ramp conditions etc to see if I can get my boat out?
  16. Troll-Eze recessed tray fits either MK or MG trolling motor control. All Aluminum construction and sells for $89.00. plus freight.
  17. Hi Salenity, I really appreciate the offer to loan me your equipment, but Since I'm retired and don't have any time frame as to when I might use it I won't keep you from your stuff. (Winter is coming and that's when most of us will be making tackle). I may go up to Rogers and talk to them, I'm sure they would be glad to show me how to use the stuff, espically if I buy it from them. Make some good ones this winter .....
  18. Anybody in Kansas City know of a place locally to buy tackle making supplies other than the big sports stores (BPS, Cabela's etc.)? I am wanting to get into making my own jigs and plastics. I would also like to find a class of some kind to help get started.
  19. I really liked that old Champion hull styling. That one looks really clean (even if it probably is a refurb) Price may be a little high for a 30 year old hull and 13 year old motor. The hours from engine module or gauge? Makes a difference.
  20. Some hit cranks and others wanted a jig & pig, but the majority of them liked the Ned Rig. Thinking of going back Friday if my neighbor can get a vacation day.
  21. I use both ends, doesn't seem to matter to the fish.
  22. Went to Lacygne today. Fished from 1 to 5 caught probably 25 LMB. Largest went 3 lb. Forgot camera so no pics.
  23. were you trolling cranks for the wipers?
  24. Boat is a 2000 Javelin, I always move engine to verticle when in the garage, need the room to get around boat. Although I guess the caarbs could leak a little with the engine tilted on the way home. I have checked the bilge and it is dry. Following my nose the gas smell is definately under the engine cowling.
