I know it's a small turtle, he moves quickly. BMA please enlighten me on how they are GOOD for bass? And besides, I don't want these boogers to take over. There are many debates I am sure on how these turtles can be good and at the same time be bad. For me, if there are any turtles in the pond, I will take matters into my own hands and get rid of them. My parents know more about them than I do, and they want me to get rid of them. Truthfully this is the first snapping turtle I ever seen (I was born and raised here in Va), but my parents have seen bigger. For those who think me killing this turtle was a bad thing for the pond, please explain why and how this turtle could have benifited this pond??? Thanks

It's his Medulla Omblongata (the section of the brain which controls agressive behavoir). He can't control his throttle of his anger and attitude that's what I get out of it.... : ;D

Yep that's what I was aiming for. I waited until his head poked above surface then I let em rip! Frogtog I did throw him away, he didn't float until yesterday and by that time he was smelly and covered in algae. Didn't look too appetizing to me, don't get me wrong, my entire family is based out of Louisianna, I know they are a delicacy down there! Avid & niksfishinmom, If you don't think HE was the problem, then what is?? Share some light please??? The only thing I've seen in the pond that can do any damage at all is, there is a king fisher (bird) who swoops down and grabs small bluegill. There is also a Bald Eagle and a Red Tailed Hawk that hangs out down there but I've never seen either of them swooping down. And besides if any of these birds grabbed the fish, they would have eaten them thoroughly. I think it was this turtle, after all, snapping turtles do eat fish and I don't think he wouldn't have gotten this big by not eating any fish in the pond :

Well I've been down to the pond quite a bit and I keep seeing a snapping turtle show his head while fishing. So yesterday for the 4th after seeing him while fishing I grabbed my 12 gauge single shot and a #1 buckshot shell. I had recently shot my .177 calibre pellet gun at his head with no luck so finally I was getting sick of this feller. Well he showed himself about 10 yards from the bank and already I was pointing the 12 gauge in his direction (seen his shell start coming, pulled back the hammer and was ready). As soon as his head broke surface I let 'er rip!! [move]BOOM! [/move] Then the next day (today) he floated at the surface...for comparison I put my size 11 1/2 shoe by him... He is a nuisance, killing a 12" bass and a few bluegill. So I got rid of the problem (I think). There might be a bigger snapper in the pond, but if he shows, I will have another #1 buckshot to greet him!! ;D ;D ;D ;D Hopefully my fish can now swim in peace!

I'd say my favorite 'structure' would be either channel drops or mid lake humps. My favorite 'cover' would be weedlines, lily-pads, trees that fell in the water, and overhanging bushes/trees. God bless 8-)

fishing in the morning, shooting off "bang bangs" at night. My sister is throwing the party this year she is having a bunch of friends over. I might hang around there for a few and then head home. I dunno. But one thing is for sure, I AM GOING FISHING! :

my opinion on glow in the dark baits is... bass never sees any prey underwater glowing at night. It is unnatural and unusual. There is no quality of any natural prey the bass eats that glows. I think it would scare them more than anything. They might get curious but I doubt they would bite. Would you eat a glowy food item? I wouldn't I would think it was exposed to radioactive toxic waste! LOL! ;D

You know some of the weapon shots are pretty much fake (those which involve bleeding). You see the guys blocking the chair shots, etc. with their forearms and shortly afterwards the head starts bleeding :-?. Now if the guy put his hands or forearms up in defence don't you think the arms would be bruised and bleeding instead of the head. And besides, let someone hit you in the head or any part of the body with a weapon. I gurantee you will either have broken bones or be knocked out instantly! My brother has a friend who is a big fan, and actually gets to go backstage sometimes. He said that the tables are made out of thin wood and the legs are purposly broken so it can break easily. The weapons are real but they hesitate the shots the guy who is striking pulls back the strike at the last minute (causing minimum momentum and strike) same with the punches. The kicks that create noise could possibly be real but I am sure some how there is an explaination for that too. For the bleeding part all in all, there is a chance they install those bleeding pouches that are hidden just under the surface of the skin (used in Hollywood movies). Or some other divice used to release the 'blood'. And also you would figure when they start a match that the camera would air the entire match instead of pausing for a commercial break. I am sure if you ask the fans that when the show goes on commercial break they will claim that the superstars are getting ready for any gorey situations (such as installing blood patches, etc.). I am not sure about this though, but it is a theory and perhaps a possibility. JMO.

Congrats! I got a new burner, it melts my plastic more efficient now and it was only $10. I've made many plastic lizards, worms and crawdad tails. It is a good feeling to catch a bass on something you made. And I agree, it is neat that you can remelt the plastic and pour again! God bless 8-)

Yeah, I went today and I thought to myself, 'the only jerk-baits I have is a Rapala DD jerk and a few old Rapalas, I need something new!' and I seen those and seen the price...yeah I wanted to try them out. The real test will be on the lake though!

Has anyone tried this bait? I bought two today one in Golden Shiner and another in Silver Black Back color. I took it down to the pond for a little test run, the action is good and I caught 3 bass and missed 2 (I was only down there for 20 minutes). It was only like 2 bucks at wal-mart. What's the feedback on this lure? Personally I like it.

I agree that Bassresource.com is THE BEST. I would never go to any other bass fishing site!

sometimes I get an internal error within the site. I can click (sometimes) on the articles to read more and it takes a while for the page to load, but when it does an internal error report pops up and says something about Port 80...(btw I am not a computer geek I do not know what port 80 is! ;D) has anyone else seen this error?

We haven't had rain here in Orange County, Va for a week. All my plants in the garden are wilting, I watered them last night, looks like I need to do it again tonight... Come on RAIN!!! 8-) PS: It makes no sense, we've had tons of thunderstorms all around us but none dropped any rain!!

My mom met Ric Flair when she was younger, got his autograph, etc. The strikes aren't real, they hold back the punches and kicks. The suplexes etc are real though, there's no way to fake a fall. The ring itself looks fake too, if you notice it bounces much like a trampoline. I'd say the thing is on springs!! ;D
