  1. I have been using 14lb stren on my C-rig this year. I haven't had any issues breaking anything but I have only caught a few fish on it.
  2. That is what I use when I throw a frog. The 50lb has a 12lb diameter
  3. Power Pro is all I use. I would recommend 50lbs or bigger depending on the area being fished.
  4. I use the Berkley lightning shock in 7' M power and fish wacky worms and weightless worms all the time. For the price they are pretty nice. I picked mine up at Walmart for $40.00.
  5. Is it a good time of year to throw a lizard on a c-rig? I always thought of those as more of a spring time bait. Lately I have been using a Zoom worm in plum color or a 10" powerbait worm in motor oil. Both have been productive for me.
  6. I have 4 of the silvermax reels and like them all. I have never had any issues with them in the year that I have owned them.
  7. I have 2 power plant lakes within 2 hrs of my house so when the MIdwest winter hits we head to the warm water!!!
  8. If it were me in the blind I would have gotten up and said something to you that I was hunting in this spot. He never should have pointed the gun or shot in your direction. I was just saying if you know he is gonna be there and has a history of stupid stuff like this, to pick another spot. Or get there before him and flip some soft plastics around his blind to see if you can get a bite!!!
  9. I would ask them if you could mount the reels on the rods and see which one feels better to you. I have always heard to use the longest rod especially for the deep divers.
  10. I would try and find a place to fish without hunters. Don't want to make anyone mad that has a gun in their hands...
  11. Nice fish!!! Congrats to her!!!
  12. As of right now I use an abu garcia black max rod and reel in 6'6" M action. I like the shorter rod for them as I can place the spinnerbait right where I want it. I might step it up to a 6'9" veritas rod really soon though.
  13. Which heated lake is better to fish.. Coffey County or Lacygne? I have only been to Coffey County a couple of times and never to Lacygne.
  14. put it in every spot possible.. when u get the obvious ones covered, try skipping one underneath if possible.
  15. I have heard that the San Diego Jam knot was one of the best for fluorocarbon. I don't use fluoro anymore, but I always used the palomar knot and only had a few issues with break offs. Not sure if it was the knot or a bad spot in the line though.
  16. Let us know what you think of this set up when u get a chance to use it. This is very similar to what I am looking at for my next set up. Thanks

Sweet truck!!! I sell used auto parts and I will give you one piece of advice for a truck like that.... KEEP THE TAILGATE LOCKED!!! THEY ARE VERY EXPENSIVE AND EASILY STOLEN!!!!!! Kyle
  18. I have the exact same rod paired up with a lew's reel and I can't crank with it. It is a little to stiff in my opinion. I would go for the 7' M version or the winch series for cranking. By the way... this is going to be my next purchase too!!!!
  19. I just started using the snaps for all my crankbaits. I just clip them to whatever comes on the bait from the factory.
  20. Thank you!!! I am sure I will be planning something soon!!!! Hope I have a good story to post about when we get finished!!!!
  21. Thanks!! I will have to get there soon and try it out. I have only caught 2 smallies before at Coffey County but they were just a fluke... We were fishing for whites when I caught them. Would love to get a few more under my belt as well as getting my father in law on the board. What would you recommend this time of year to catch them?
  22. It's a tough one that is for sure. They had a tourney out there 3 weeks ago, I think, and it took 17lbs to win. I have no clue where or what they were using and they sure weren't telling!!!!! I noticed your favorite lake for smallies is Milford. Whats the best time of year to catch a mess of them? It looks like it is about 2.5 hrs from my house, but would be well worth it to hook into a few.
  23. Anyone have any luck at Pony Express Lake in Cameron, MO? We went out today and only caught 2 fish. One on a buzzbait and one on a frog in a little cove with some lily pads. This lake has our number.. We can never seem to develop any type of pattern. Anyone have any info on this lake? I would appreciate any that you all can give out. Thanks Kyle
  24. Now that's more like what I am use to catching!!!!!
  25. Thanks for all that info Jeff. I would want to target smallmouth mostly since I dont have many places around here that have them. I am still working on figuring out how to make this work. Would love to meet a bunch of the people on here.
