Happy Birthday to...
<------This guy! Well...I somehow survived another year...25 years old...getting older...yeah...not really all that exciting amymore! Hey...at least my car insurance drops! And of course I have to work... . I also just wanted to take a brief second to apologize for my general absence from the site...lots of things going on personally for me...makes it kind of difficult to participate as I once did. Still a BassResource.com member through and through though. Nathan

the pennants are in view the trash is flying 2007
Looks like Phat Albert is starting to come out of it a bit...2 dingers and 5 RBI. Not a bad day. He completey overshadowed poor Chris Duncan's day though which wasn't too shabby either. He went 4 for 5 and absolutely ANNIHILATED that ball he hit for his Home Run. Great day for both of 'em. Got another good start from Braden Looper. He showed some good toughness out there too by taking those two liners that hit him and continuing to pitch. If he keeps utilizing the defense behind him with that sinker he throws he could enjoy good success as a starter as long as his health holds. And finally, how about Yadi HOSING Prince Fielder in the fifth for the final out on that pick off at first...man I LOVE it when Yadi does that. ;D

Trust me...the Cards will need a healthy Carp or this year could be rough. Wainwright will hold his own, Reyes may hold his own...we know what his potential is, Kip Wells sample size this year is still kinda small for me to say one way or another right now...same with Looper. Let's let the 162 game marathon grind down on Reyes, Looper, and Wells and see how it goes. Reyes is a little on the injury prone side, as is Kip Wells, and Looper hasn't had to work as many innings as he will be required to this year in a looooooooooooong time. Kiesler pitched well last night, but he is definately not a long term solution. Kudos to him and the Cards though for pulling out the extra innings W.

As far as the whole weather and baseball scheduling thing goes, MLB realy dropped the ball on this one. There are plenty of warm weather parks and parks with retractible roofs on them. I will say that the weather right now is an absolute freak of nature, but the schedulers should think about this ahead of time and take the proper scheduling precautions to keep things like the Angels and Indians at...Milwaukee from happening.

Seems like the beast known as the Cardinals offense has woke up...'bout time. However...now it's time to see what this team is really made of. Chris Carpenter has been scratched for Tuesdays start and is on his way back to the team doctor in St. Louis with elbow swelling...as if our pitching staff wasn't thin enough already. : On an up note...how about Kip well throwing some one hit ball! Kudos to him and hopefully he has some continued success.

Deadliest Catch
I have seen every episode and have my DVR set to record all new episodes. Awesome show...could you get me on one of those boats? Not a chance.

all around lure
A jig...period end of story. There are very few baits that you can catch fish at any depth with, in any season, any type of body of water, any water clarity, from the bank or boat, and fish in as many different presentations as you can a jig. I have been trying my best to make great strides in learning the patience necessary and as many techniques I can learn using a jig. I think anyone who does not do this is doing themselves a great dis-service.

BassResource.com Bank/Boat Fishermen Survey
I like most other bank beaters, fish from a boat when the option is available to me...which is very little. Most of my feeshin' is done from the bank.

whats it like meeting other members
Heck...I stick out like a sore thumb. Why? Because I represent! 8-) Anytime I am fishing I am wearing my BassResource.com shirt and hat. I also use my BassResource.com hand towel. So anyone who walks by me can clearly tell I am a member. I have fished with GMAN and Fishing Doug. Both were great guys and fun to fish with. In fact GMAN and I will be teaming up for our MIssouri Members Fishing Tournament on April 21st. That way we can get our butts handed to us by Cart7. ;D

Catch and Release
I practice catch and release almost all of the time. I never keep a bass for food unless I am in a situation where selective harvesting of fish needs to be done to improve the overall fishery. If NO fish are kept out of a given fishery, then the predator/prey balance is affected resulting in to many predator fish and not enough bait fish to sustain the population. The results are a lot of small, unhealthy, and stunted fish. Since the competition for food is so fierce many of these fish struggle to get enough food. In situations like that I will catch and keep a few bass within the limits of the law. I don't have any problem with folks who catch and keep. As long as they are doing everything legally such as having a valid fishing license, not keeping more than the legal limit, not keeping slot limit fish, etc., Then I have no problem with it. To each their own!

Pics of bass please?
Flyhatch's pic has my vote. Great looking pic with just enough action to be interesting but not so much that the focus on the fish is lost. Great colors and a very proportioned fish.

Okie Bass

Question Of The Day???
I haven't fished live bait for years. The only time I fish live bait is when I am not targeting bass, but targeting crappie. I'll use minnows then. To me, catching a bass on an artificial bait is more exciting. The artificial has to be given your skill to catch the fish. Like flechero pointed out, usually the proper placement of a shiner will get you bit if they are biting that day. With the artificial, placement is also key, but on top of that you must also present correctly, use the right size bait, find the correct speed of the presentation, and match your lure selection to the conditions that are present. To me all that is WAAAAAAAY more challenging than using live bat. I am not saying using live bait is a sin. Heck, if you wanna use live bait have at it! Good luck to ya! Just isn't my thing I guess. 8-)
