  1. At least it sounds like it will be overcast. Strip pits usually have very clear water and bright days can make it pretty tough. A lot of times fishing after dark is key in getting on a good bite. If you think the water will be warm enough, use baits that you can fish very quickly. Such as burning a spinnerbait, crankbait, or rattle trap.
  2. Blake, cast that lure out and reel it in. The lip on the front makes it "dig" into the water and will cause it to dive. This is a pretty easy lure to fish. Experiment on how fast you reel it in and let the fish tell you how they want it retrieved. As far as rigging it, just tie straight to the split ring on the lip.
  3. The Monsoor swim jigs are ok, but definately not the same bait that Tom Monsoor throws. The Booyah are the worst that I have ever seen. The best in my not so humble opinion are www.brovarneybaits.com Give them a try.
  4. Try burning a spinnerbait. In really clear water you do not want the fish to get a really good look at your bait.
  5. Pic?
  6. Most of us have taken a "mental health" day or two.
  7. Ditto. Great tutorial.

How many times have you gotten a backlash? A couple anyways if you are like me. Anyways, ever been fishing a fluke, senko, tube, plastic worm and got one? So you casually pick out the birdsnest, might take a couple minutes. Meanwhile your bait is sitting on the bottom of the water, probably not in the spot you even meant to cast. So you have the problem fixed, reel in your slack line, and find a present on your hook. Goes to show that we probably fish too fast most of the time.
  9. You do not have to have any jig experience to fish these. The basic chuck and wind technique works well sometimes. Chatterbaits have their time and place, not doubt in my mind.
  10. I have used the 8 lb. The price is good the strength of the line is fair. You would be better off sticking with what you are using if you are happy, or perhaps give Trilene 100% Flourocarbon a try. I sure like it.
  11. Too much info! :-?
  12. I only use flouro for certain techniques. I also use braid and a co-polymer. If I could afford to use flouro for most everything I probably would. I would still use braid for frog fishing and swimjigs, but that is about it. It really is more sensitive, but not necessary by any means. I do really, really like it for throwing 1/8 oz shaky heads in current and when fishing deep.
  13. It is safe to say your jig was defective. It is also safe to say you tied a good knot.
  14. bubblegum.
  15. High Nitrogen bad. Some Nitrogen good for weed growth. Might think about eating fishies from a lake too close to a hog confinement or chicken/turkey farm.

A buddy of mine had a similar experience with them recently. They did eventually make things right.

C-rig or drop shot too! That there is a "do nothing" bait as long as you have a bit of current or wind.
  18. This post is the epitomy of "One Mans Trash is Another Man's Treasure". Gotta love it.
  19. Snyper, I believe the Stren and Power Pro are very comparable to eachother. I use both and think they are on par with eachother. They both lose their color, like all Spectra braids that I have used. I did hear that the Shakespear Ugly Braid keeps it's color a bit better, have not tried it yet though. He is a tip for you braid users. Obviously braid lasts a long time, but even when it starts to wear out, simply pull the braid off your reel, making sure to keep it is a straight line. Then retie the the opposite end to your spool. Wallah! New line. LOL. I know, I probably just pointed out the obvious, but some of "us" need that. LOL. I am including myself in the "us".

Great question! And, I do believe sometimes matching the crawfish color does matter. Alger, I cannot answer this for you, wish I could. I will be monitoring this post also so I can learn.
  22. Mr. Burley, we need to hook up. LOL
  23. Lower your rod tip quickly, then jump, try to jump higher than the bass, thus keeping tension on your line. Works most of the time.
  24. Just write the weight on a blade with a fine point sharpie.
