  1. Soria proved that in his years with the Royals. Its all about location and changing speeds. I've always said that the hardest pitch to hit is a well placed fastball.
  2. Woodford Reserve and Buffalo Trace for when I occasionally spoil myself. Evan Williams any other time.
  3. Smallies around here love the Glass Minnow color
  4. They're a good bait, especially for the price. The hooks are a little light so it's a good idea to replace them. We've had good luck with the french pearl, pro blue, and secret night colors around here.
  5. I have two that I use, a 6'6" M/F Carbonlite with a Revo S and a 6'8" M/XF Mojo also with a Revo S. Just got the mojo a couple months ago so haven't had much of a chance to toss jerkbaits with it, but I like it so far. They are both good topwater rods also.
  6. I use LH reels for working baits like jerkbaits and topwater and for bottom contact baits. For moving baits I can use either. I tried to use a RH baitcaster a few months ago on my flippin rod and after the first time using the reel I returned it. Of course I might have to convert to RH at some point if my tendinitis doesn't get any better...........
  7. Homemade brush jig or pig sticker football jig and netbait paca chunk trailer.
  8. I'm a big fan of the Pig Sticker Quick 5 football jig. A guide at Table Rock put me onto them last year and I've caught a lot of fish on them in the past year and a half, including my PB smallie.
  9. For some reason I thought you meant spinning, sorry about that.
  10. Saros, Stradic FJ, or a clearance Stradic Ci4 (if there are still any out there). They all have X Ship. You would not be disappointed with either one of these, just depends on how close you want to get to $200. I only use shimano for spinning reels, simply because I haven't found a brand of reels that I like better. Personally I dont have the money to fish the higher end reels so I stick to the saharas which have been great for me.
  11. Love them!! 3 of the previous model in 2500 and one of the new in 3000. I've bought three of them in the last year at $45-$50 a piece when cabelas and gander mountain had them on clearance. One of them was a xmas gift for my dad. IMHO the best value in a spinning reel.
  12. Swimbait rod. Maybe a 7'10" H/XF BPS Extreme or a 7'6" H/XF Carbonlite, or possibly the Fenwick Aetos in 7'9" H/XF. Whatever I get I'm probably going to put a Revo S on it.
  13. For that price the basspro pro qualifier would be a good choice. They have 4.7:1 and 5.2:1 gear ratios available and they're on sale for $79 right now.
  14. Bluebasser and I took another shot at cast and blast yesterday. It was an awesome day!!! Started out duck hunting and at first light we had a flock of wigeon land in our faces which Clayton shot a drake out of, and that was the beginning of one of the most awesome mornings duck hunting I've ever had. We shot our limit by 0815 and probably could have been done by 0730 if my shooting had been better. We had planned to fish afterwards so we loaded up and made the drive to Coffey County. We were worried that the wind would be blowing too hard for the guys at the gate to let us on, but it was steady at about 10-15 out of the SW when we got there. Water was a lot colder than we expected it to be, warmest we found was 55 right near the cable in the discharge. We made it about halfway up the discharge without a bite before Clayton picked up a war eagle finesse spinnerbait and proceeded to catch three largemouth in a row. He offered to let me use one but I stuck with one of mine. After he caught a couple more I had seen enough and tied on one of his baits. Took me two casts before I caught one. It was pretty steady for the next couple hours. We caught a pretty good number of chunky largemouth, a few smallmouth, several white bass, and a really hungry carp. Most fish came on spinnerbaits with a few on lipless crankbaits. One of the best days in the outdoors I've ever had!!
  15. Congratulations!!!! Table Rock would be my ultimate retirement destination.
  16. I've got 3 of the previous model 2500 saharas and a 3000 in the newer model. I dont notice any difference in the size of the spools. Not sure if you'd even be interested in the older model but gander mountain has a few left on clearance, if you have a store near you. Their website says $69 but I bought one in Wichita, KS two weeks ago for $49. Having used both the new and old I like them both equally.
  17. I asked for this combo last year for xmas after I saw it on black friday. Wife got it for me and after about a week I took it back and spent a little extra money on the PQ/Carbonlite combo. The reel was not at all smooth like the other PQ's I have, and the rod just felt cheap. I was happy in the end but I would not buy this combo again.
  18. x2 on checking out Gander Mountain, if you have one near you. They had shimano curado's on sale for $129 at the store in wichita last week.
  19. Had them both off last year and it was the first time I'd had either of them off in 6 years, and get both of them off again this year
  20. BPS Extreme 6'8" ML or BPS Carbonlite 6'9" ML. I have both and they're very nice rods. I use Shimano Sahara's on both of these rods. The extreme I use for drop shotting and the carbonlite for small finesse baits.
  21. Thanks!!! Might have to get a couple more.
  22. Oh my that would have been perfect for my bass raider!!! What I wouldn't have given as a teenager to have something like that.
