  1. Much like the contract Detroit gave to Anibal Sanchez before last season. It was all based on a good second half the season before, and they gave him an absurd amount of money. Not saying he hasn't earned his money, he was really good last year, but its amazing how quickly a player's stock can go up. The start of the season can not get here fast enough!! This is the most excitement we've had in KC for a long time. The last time it was like this was in 2004, but that was a little different because the 2003 team was not built to last like this current team is.
  2. Becoming a big fan of St Croix, bought my first one (6'8" casting mojo) last year and am slowly adding to the collection. Have bought a rage and a legend tournament in the last month and plan on buying another rage tomorrow. I love the action of their x-fast spinning rods.
  3. Thanks for the heads up, have to check out the bargain "trash can" at our local store.
  4. St Croix is doing a shirt promotion right now where you buy one rod and get a free shirt, and two rods you get a shirt and a hat. The shirt is long sleeve and is the polyester moisture wicking material. I'm wondering if anyone has one of these shirts and can tell me whether the sizing is accurate or if they run big or small. I've bought two rods in the past week and want to take advantage of this promo but want to make sure I get something that fits. Thanks.
  5. Academy carries an ethos composite cranking rod in 7' MM. Normally $59 but goes on sale at times for $39. I'll be getting one when they go on sale.
  6. If its the first trip of the year I have a hard time sleeping, same way with hunting as well. Same thing would happen to me when I was in college with the start of our baseball season. The night before our first game I usually didn't sleep a wink. Just way too excited.
  7. I'll be there and will have a partner.
  8. Modified Albright, super easy to tie and very strong. I've tried some of the others but this one is just the easiest for me to tie.
  9. Beat me to it....... This ^^^^^
  10. From what I heard from someone who works at the plant, Wolf Creek will be shut down for routine maintenance starting around the first of March and will be down for about a month. So that would leave you with Lacygne. There aren't many hotels close. You could stay in Overland Park and drive about 45 minutes or Louisburg which would leave about a 20 minute drive. If you just feel like catching something you could check out Lake Shawnee in Topeka and catch some of the giant trout they stock in there.
  11. I use a 6'6" ML BPS Bionic Blade with a 1000 shimano sienna. There are a ton of different brands out there, but for me I haven't found a rod I like for crappie fishing better than this one. This combo cost me $70 about 5 years ago.
  12. I have 4 carbonlites. Great rod. The 7' MH/F is a good rod for jigs and t-rigs and pretty good for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits as well. The 6'6" M/F is my jerkbait rod and the 7' M/F is my "everything" rod. I had a 7'3" MH/F veritas for about two weeks a couple years ago before it snapped on me at table rock. While I had it I liked it well enough. To me it was a little uncomfortable to use though because of the reel nut digging into my fingers.
  13. I was told to turn the volume down on one of them, said she couldn't stand listening to both. TV got muted.
  14. Boulevard Irish Ale in the spring (seasonal beer). Another good local beer I like is Free State Brewery Oatmeal Stout.
  15. I've used the BPS Excel mono for as long as I can remember. Works fine and is pretty cheap when they have the buy 2 get 1 free sale.
  16. The cardiff has a recessed reel foot that makes it sit a little lower and a bit more comfortable. I had a 201A for about 6 years and I really liked it, just sold it because I didn't use it very often. I've got a 301A arriving today that I'm putting on a 7'10" Heavy BPS Extreme.
  17. I picked up 2 Rage spinning rods last month, 6'10 ML/XF and 6'10 M/XF. I was like you in that I wasn't a big fan of the reel seat, but after putting a reel on it in the store I discovered that it actually felt great in my hand. As far as the warranty is concerned I'm not really worried about it. If the rods would happen to have something wrong with them it would hopefully be discovered before the 5 years is up, and if something happens after 5 years then I'd like to think I got my money's worth out of the rod.
  18. I like that you don't eat fish, means more in my freezer. If we get any tomorrow you should clean them for me so I dont have to get my hands dirty.
  19. No need to get nasty......
  20. No issues with eating them
  21. I agree. Another would be the BPS Extreme 7' M/F.
  22. I caught a few on the little SK Slab Hammer crankbaits
  23. Buzzbait and A-Rig
  24. We better!! I've been going stir crazy lately.
  25. I have a couple designated as jerkbait rods, a 6'8" Mojo and a 6'6'' Carbonlite. I'm a bit like you though because I have a Falcon Lowrider 6'10'' MH that I have found to be a very good rod for jerkbaits. Pretty good for squarebills too. Its supposed to be a jig rod but after having it for about 7 years now, I prefer using it for moving baits. Definitely not what I bought it for, but has worked out well for those types of baits.
