I am looking to upgrade some of my cheaper rods with a quality $100 rod. I own a couple carbonlites and I love them. IMHO I think they might be the best on the market for that price. Should I buy a couple more or get something else such as a doybns, veritas, falcon bucco, or another brand. What do you guys think?

If you like the Carbonlites stay with them. I like the Abu rods in that price range, but I have owned both Shimano and St Croixs too............it's all decent stuff, and boils down to personal preference.

I like 13 omens and st. Croix mojos for that price.

LOOK AT THE SHIMANO . I HAVE USED THEM FOR YEARS AND COMPLETELY SATISFIED,ESPECIALLY WITH OVER THE COUNTER LIFETIME WARRANTY.

Try a GLX its only $300 bucks more. Lol just kidding.

 

Ive tried several $100 rods and like ww2farmer said its all personal preference. All of them are decent rods.

I will say though that the veritas balances like no other in that price range.

for a $100, I liked the carbonlite.

 

I think the vertias is that range too, and a lot of guys like them.

 

if you go used you could step up to a Duckett if you wanted.

$100 range with be an omem or used crucial.

For that price range I like the Denali Jadewood line, for a few more bucks the Kovert series are hard to beat!

The *** Black from *** gets a lot of love, for me, well it depends on the length and action but Fish Tackle USA has the Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth for $99 shipped, I have never used a rod with that much sensitivity that was under $200 and I'm serious. The other model is the new Fenwick HMG, again this is a $100 dollar rod that looks, feels, and fishes way beyond the price point and add in the life time warranty on both and you have a win-win situation.  The Falcon BuCoo rods are very nice as well, super light and a ton of performance, a lot of really good rods at this price point anymore.

I think the Abu lineup of rods give you the best selection for around $100.  I bought my first one a few years ago( I have 7 now)  and with the exception of the one I stepped on, they are still in good shape.

 I like the Carbonlite and the Veritas. Ive only broke one Carbonlite and was easily replaced

If you love your Carbonlites, why not stick with it?

Going to pick up a 7'3" MH Veritas for another C-Rig rod. If I don't like it as much as my carbonlites ill take it back and trade it for one. Will most likely be trying the *** Black eventually thanks to you guys! Thanks for all the helpful input!!

Anyone catching 8-9 lb bass ought to be giving advice, sounds like you already have a winner.

IMO the best rods in that price range are the st.croix premier and the falcon bucco. Both are American made and both by very reputable manufacturers. I'm not a big fan of the veritas but the carbonlite rods are pretty good for the money and can be found on sale for 79.99 when they go on sale. The st.croix mojo is nice if you don't mind the dark cherry or whatever they call the color. It's essentially the same blank as the premier just with a split grip and a tech. Specific line up. I can't comment on *** or Denali but I hear great things about both of those. Basically you have a ton of options available try and go out and get your hands on them all get the feel of them!

I like the Carbonlites myself. Not as much as my Crucial, but when the Carbonlites are on sale I can get 2 for the price of one Crucial. I have always had the BPS Extreme rods and have never had an issue with them, some  I have are over 10 years old. I have a couple Carbonlites now and im going to slowly start switching all my rods to Carbonlites.

This is a weekly topic.  No new rods I know of since last week, so choices should be the same. 

 

My .02 cents goes with the Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth series.

I have a veritas and four Mojos either way your getting a good rod the veritas does have a stiffer action compared to the mojo but for about the same price your getting great rods and great customer service that pure fishing and St croix offers good luck
