  1. I do have graphite rods and I simply prefer the fiberglass. I guess that the way I fish, I don't use large hooks (I don't think that I own any).
  2. I know that many people may not agree, but I use glass rods for everything. I like the flex of the rods and I don't feel that I am losing that much in sensitvity.
  3. I think that they are talking about their company specs (US Reel) not United States specs.
  4. I also have the Hibdon left handed model. I've heard that some of the level wind bar could be warped from the factory. But mine is fine. And I haven't had any issue with it. Just make sure to put the line under the level wind bar and reel it under some tension. And I thought that the Hibdon was the highest end model in their line.
  5. Too funny! I googled the exact same search term last night. I bought a baby bass colored prop bait last night, and I was second guessing myself about the color. I wondered if/why bass would eat it's own kind. But this post made me more relaxed about my purchase. I guess that there would not be a baby bass pattern if it did not catch fish. Thanks guys.
  6. I always set my drag. I typically only use 8lb mono, so the drag is critical for me to fight any fish more than 2lbs.
  7. I think that the reel is basically the BCX reel. I think that I saw the same combo at my Walmart.
  8. Ahhhh...ok. I have a Hibdon 810sx. It is a left handed reel. I am guessing that you are looking for a right handed model.
  9. What are you looking for? I might have one for you.
  10. I have the 6' MH spinning rods. I really like mine. They are pretty light and sensitive. I am sure that there are better rods out there, but for the price I am very satisfied. I've pulled in several nice bass and some 10lb catfish on mine. And they've held up!
  11. I mostly fish from the bank so I like to keep my gear as light as possible. So I typically use only one rod for everything.
  12. Makes me want to go out and buy a few more Ambassadeur reels. After watching the video it makes me feel special to own a piece of history like that.
  13. I think that you can get the Diesel from the fishranger for $50.
  14. Welcome Ryan, you are very lucky since there are lots of great ponds in Ashburn. There are several off Waxpool.
  15. So is she now hooked on fishing? I certainly hope so.
  16. There are people that claim to have been abducted by aliens multiple times
  17. Went to Accotink for a few hours this morning. Tried the pond below the dam and some bank areas along the trails.......nothing. But it was fun trying.
  18. Interesting. I thought that most of the Ambassadeurs still have the stamp on the side "Made in Sweden". I'll have to check the C3 that I just bought.
  19. I recognize the grass from your photo!!! That is a funny looking bass. I am still trying to catch my 1st decent sized bass on buzzbait.
  20. I remember another thread on this topic. Some people mentioned that it was hard to tell if the fish is hitting the drop shot or jig and that setting the hook on the 2 techniques are quite different.
  21. Are you drinking it? It should last much longer than a year.
  22. So I spent about 45 mins with the 3/8 oz black/red blade Cavitron and sadly no bites. But I did get a 2.64 lb on a 4" senko. I might try it out again tomorrow morning.
  23. I am jazzed. I found a Cavitron and I am ready to throw it tonight. With all the positive reviews, I am expecting a 5 lber on my first cast tonight!! I'll report back on my success later.
  24. Holy cow! That was an incredible catch on 4 lb line. Were you praying that the line didn't snap?
  25. I try not to talk about equipment with other people if at all possible. I just stick to talking about the baits. But coming on this forum doesn't count
