  1. I will be using jigs most of the time this weekend.
  2. I agree with Downtown, with the soft and flimsy tip, any significant weight will probably snap the tip. The tips are not solid, they have pretty thin walls.
  3. This has been brought up many times in the past. If you start off learning to reel with your right, then that becomes natural to you. I started off with a spinning and always reeled with my left. So naturally for me when I bought a baitcasting reel, it was a lefty.
  4. I have a 6501 and it throws 3/8 just fine. So I am sure that the 4601 will handle 1/4.
  5. Dang, that is $$ right there. Enjoy them!
  6. I was waiting for that in my area, but the cicadas never made it to DC. I was disappointed.
  7. The H rods feels similar to MH graphite rods.
  8. Congrats and go Megastrike!!
  9. Ok, thanks!
  10. Ok, what the heck is black neon? Is it shiny black?
  11. My buddy and I fished Beaverdam earlier in the year, but did not have your luck. I am encouraged to know that there are some big ones waiting in there for us though I liked the back of your t-shirt!
  12. What about a Ugly Stik UL rod? You won't be able to break that thing no matter how hard you try.
  13. I just purchased the Magic Swimmer 145 (1.5oz) in White Lady. I hope to use it on a deep lake next spring. It looks beautiful. If I was a bass, I'd eat it.
  14. You can't judge the rods based on one broken one that you see at Walmart.
  15. I have one, but have not dedicated much time to it. I typically bring only one rod when I fish. And for the buzz plug you really need a MH or H rod (it weighs close to an ounce). But I love the buzzbaits and I love how the buzz plug floats, so it should be a winner. I will try it out later this weekend and report back.
  16. I have a Hummingbird Fishing Buddy that I use on a small boat. It works very well in telling me the depth and locating fish. And it is portable!!
  17. Do you fish by yourself? When I started, I had the luck of fishing with a buddy who was already good at catching. I picked up a lot of skill just by fishing around him.
  18. Beautiful fish. I just started fishing the Potomac. I am hopeful to be able to hook into something like that in the future.....and a snakehead too. Were you on the bank when you pulled that thing in?
  19. I only use circle hooks on my dropshot rigs. I did really well with them this past Sunday. As soon as the fish take the bait and start swimming off, i just lift my rod slightly and start reeling. Then the hook just does the work. My circle hooks are Eagle Claw 3/0 size though. Even the small bass doesn't seem to have problems with that size.
  20. A lot of people have had success with using a wacky worm under a float. Give it a try.
  21. You never fail to impress me!!
  22. I drove by a Cabelas yesterday and decided to stop in to check it out. It was an impressive store, but I walked out with nothing. I felt like the security guys were watching me like a hawk because I was the only one walking out empty. I guess that's not normal.
  23. Just an FYI, looking at the pictures, it looks like they are the previous generation Vendetta rod. Walmart had them on clearance for $30 in the spring.
  24. Awww man that sucks. I suggest $1 Walmart spinnerbaits next time. You'll hurt less in your pocket.
