  1. Welcome Tuna. Go to the local section of the forum. There are topics specifically for NOVA. They have some spot you can try out.
  2. Ok, you've all convinced me. I'll give it a shot.
  3. I was just curious if you've had any luck with using swim jigs with only trailers and no skirt. I have some naked swim jig heads lying around and I am debating whether I need to buy skirts for them.
  4. Congrats on that river fish!
  5. Fantastic fish. Congrats in landing it....twice. Maybe on your third time it'll be over 8lbs. Give it a couple of months to fatten up.
  6. I love reading about new ideas like this. Quick question though....looks like the tubing might get in the way of the hook during a hookset. How well are the bass hooked with the tubing?
  7. Good job. I will definitely read your article if I come across it. What is the name of the article?
  8. Thanks for the review. I am a fan of the standard snaps, but I may have to give this a try.
  9. For a buzzbait, I don't think that there really are huge benefits. Maybe a 1/2 oz would have a stronger hook? But I guess that a 1/2 oz could be thrown further than a 3/8 oz.
  10. Nice fish man! He really swallowed that lure.
  11. No kidding, that 2nd pic looked like the fish could have gone 5.5 or 6.
  12. I've lost many fish with regular hooks and treble hooks, but only 2 on circle hooks. With sickle shape of the hook, once it is hooked around the mouth it is very secure.
  13. That's not true. They work very well with bass. I use circle hooks exclusively with my wacky rigs and dropshot rigs. I don't usually swing for the fence when I use normal hooks, so the "no hook set" does not bother me. I am more interested in fighting the fish. Also, I have only lost 2 fish in 3 years of fishing with the circle hooks. Once they are hooked, they rarely are able to throw the hook.
  14. I went to Lake Okeechobee a few weeks back and booked 3 days with a former FLW pro, Mark Shepard. He knew the lake very well and put us on some really good fish. Most of the fish were caught on swim jigs in pretty shallow water. I had the best time fishing down there. Over 3 days, I broke my PB 3 times!! I have already booked a trip to go back in January. They are suppose to be even bigger in the winter. Here are the 3 big ones that I got, first one is 6.25, second is 6.75, and third is 7.5:
  15. Welcome Ken. Check your PM.
  16. Are you looking for new or used? Dick's sometime has nice sales on kayaks.
  17. I've had good luck with the Terminator double bladed buzzbait. I bent the blades closer together so that they clack while spinning. I caught a 4.72 on it last Sunday.
  18. Maybe it's a second spawn. I've read that sometimes bass spawn twice in one year.
  19. The area where the trees hang over the water may be productive (if you can get in there). The dam may be a good place to try as well.
  20. I have a Rapala popper that I used on my spinning rod as well as a jitterbug. I also have a 1/4oz buzzbait that I throw on the spinning rod too. They all work well.
  21. I had some luck in the past in the cove toward the left side of the dam (looking out into the water). But lately it's been pretty quiet in that cove. Any idea how deep the water is in front of the dam?
  22. Are you talking about the shallow side of the lake by Wagon Trail Ln?
  23. Patience only pays off if you know that there is a fish in that spot. If not then you just wasted an hour. Sometimes it pays other times it doesn't.
  24. I have added weight to my spinnerbaits by taking a split shot weight and pinching it closed to the wire in front of the lead head.
  25. Do you have a trailer hook on that buzzbait? I don't usually have a problem with the fish throwing the bait unless there is slack in the line. As others have mentioned, you could try a softer rod and see if that helps.
