  1. Are you talking about the spinning or casting reel?
  2. I'd like to know also. I just splurged on a pair of Costa 580 plastic lens glasses. One of the fishing pros that I know wears plastic lens. I figured if it is good enough for him, then it is good enough for me. I heard that the plastic lens have better impact resistance whereas the glass will shatter on impact (for example a jig or lure hitting it).
  3. 6 oz?? Most people use 3/4 oz to 1 oz for punching.
  4. You will not notice the benefits playing with it out of the water. The difference will be felt when you have a large fish at the end of the rod.
  5. I agree with the post above. The Berkley Lightning Shock has a 7'6 Heavy rod in their line. I've felt it. It is heavy duty and seems almost unbreakable.
  6. That's what we did in FL when we used shiners as bait. We hooked the shiner about 2-3 ft from the bottom and used a 2oz sinker to keep it in place.
  7. I got a larger version of the Pompadour that was meant for muskies. But I see no reason why a 6 lb+ bass wouldn't hit it. I'll let you know how I do once the ice melts.
  8. Anything that I skip will be with the spinning rod. Mostly I skip senko worms, so they work well with my medium powered rod.
  9. Ok now boys, back off of my girl Taylor. What did she do so wrong to make a bunch of middle aged men beat her up like this on a bass fishing forum?? Well, I am a fan and I am not afraid to admit it. I'll come to her defense every time. I bet that you all would be singing a different tune if you knew that she was a bass fisherwoman! Oh lookie here.....
  10. Good find. I found a couple of rubber nets on sale and bought them both in case the first one wears out.
  11. Welcome. You might have better luck on the regional forum. But it looks like you have a few places near you that sounds promising....once the ice thaws.
  12. I fell in love with the super fluke on the chatterbait as a trailer. On the retrieve, it darts around so erratically. I looks so awesome. I've caught several nice fish on it.
  13. I just purchased the Costas with copper 580P lens. I hope that they will work well for my water conditions. I'll keep you all posted.
  14. I have the 7' MH casting and 7' M spinning Shock rods. They have been my main rods since 2014. They are plenty strong and although not the lightest, they balance very well with my reels. I think that they would work well with your float technique. I'd say go for it!
  15. I have the Spiderwires too. But I made the mistake of putting on a pair of Costas when I went fishing in FL. Now I feel like I need a pair so that I wouldn't miss out on seeing bass that are right under my nose. It's not a guarantee that I will catch them, but at least I can try for them. If you have no intention of spending a lot of money on sunglasses, do yourself a favor, don't try on a pair of Costas. Ignorance is bliss
  16. I am shopping for some Costas. I am thinking about going with the gray 580P lens. Any experience with those lens for fishing?
  17. I like the foam block styled ones, and they fit rods with the reels in place. http://www.jmtackle.com/rod-steward-foam-rod-holder.html
  18. The only problem is that the line is pink.
  19. It may not be the most expensive rod out there but it will take a lot to destroy it. I would personally throw almost everything (up to the lure weight limit) on it. But if you are concerned about the sensitivity, then just use it for topwaters, cranks, spinnerbaits, etc. Throw some braid on there to make up for the flex.
  20. I have the same Berkley rod and I use 15lb Big Game. No problems setting the hook. I don't lose many fish.
  21. I stopped by another local DSG tonight and they had a few Tec Spec Elites left on the shelf. They didn't have any clearance tags on them so I asked for a price check. All the models rang up $0.23....yup 23 cents. But the cashier called the dept mgr and he said that it was priced wrong and would not let me purchase it at the register price. He adjusted the price to $22.48, which is still a good price but not as good as 23 cents (I ended up buying the rods). Go check your DSG stores. Maybe one of you will get lucky and get one for less than a quarter.
  22. I hate threads like this. Now I have to stop by Dicks and check it out for myself....Lord help me.
  23. Check out Dick's also. If they have any MGX left, they should be on sale.
  24. I would say that you should trust your guide (assuming that he is a respected one). He should know what kind of bait is the most productive on the lake. I am heading down to Okeechobee next weekend. And we are going to be using the gear that our captain is providing. Last summer we used mainly swim jigs and it paid off. But as far as equipment, if you are bringing your own a MH to H with braid was what we used last time.
  25. I don't think that Big Game is available in #6.
