  1. I use a E5. Also have a Tranx 300 on my swimbait rod and really once it's actually on the rod and you fish with it, really doesn't feel that much bigger than a 200 size. I would have no problem putting it on a crankbait rod.
  2. Depends on how deep the water is but usually a 1/4 oz ball head
  3. Another thing to mention is I think the winters are a bit easier in the southern part of the state. I have a home in St.louis and the weather is usually better at the lake . Not that we don't get snow but north Missouiri get's hammered a few times a year.
  4. Really depends on how far your willing to drive to go fishin. St. James is about 3 hours from Table Rock/ Bull Shoals. It's a easy drive down 44 to 65 south. I'm on Table Rock and love it but I really believe Bull Shoals is going to get better and better and if your looking for ground both lakes have some. The biggest difference is that Table Rock has more shopping, medical facilities and development in general.
  5. Or, you just buy a few Dixie Jet 1/2 oz. flutter spoons and a few slab spoons and fish them on any 7ft or so MH rod. The spoon deal is pretty much a suspended fish, dock deal. If you don't have a boat and some decent electronics I wouldn't invest in a rod strictly for big spoons.
  6. Yes, I cut the line back a couple times a day and respool every 2 or 3 days.
  7. I use the R2S James Watson spoon a lot. I mostly pitch it in dock stalls and under walkways. The thing actually falls away from you and flutters back under the dock and walkway ect. Also comes with a stinger hook. I'm sure a 795 would work. I use a old Daiwa light and tough flippin stick. it's got a soft tip and enough power to pull them out of the boat lifts. I usually cut the swivel off any spoon, I think the fish like to see 'em spin. I use 20lb. mono and cut it back 25 ft. or so every day.
  8. Yep, that's what it is and a dandy at that. I catch a couple a year. Smallmouth/kentucky cross.
  9. They were designed to be a Wiggle Wart alternative. They will out dive a wart but I think also tend to hang up a bit more. I've caught a bunch on them , I only throw the craw patterens but I still prefer the wart unless I need another 3ft or so That deal is over for this year around here but you have a nice selection for sure
  10. We use the redfin a bunch here in the Ozarks. Trouble is you have to go through a half dozen to find one that wakes right. I gave up heating the bills years ago but the current recipe is a couple or three suspend dots in front of the joint and add a feathered treble on the back and hope. Braid will make a so so Fin pretty good. Or, these days just buy a Surge Shad but there's still some magic in the old Redfin.
  11. I've always thought shooter was a bit less manageable in anything over 12lb. or so. The lighter weights not as bad but Tatsu is good throughout the range but it's pricey as well .
  12. 7FT M Legend Xtreme, Curado 70, 10lb. Tatsu , 1/4 oz. Picasso shaky head .
  13. I've owned 2 of them. With those settings.. I wouldn't say it's impossible but it would be a chore to backlash it.
  14. A DC with the spool tension tight and the brakes on 4 , 12 lb mono and it's still backlashing . I don't think that's technique sounds like a issue with the reel.
  15. They're fine .. Don't worry
  16. The Avid X would be my choice.. I have the 7ft 1 MHXF and it balances right on the reel nut.. The guides are fine, Kigan Z series with Alconite inserts. A $60 Favorite White Bird has SIC's .. It's about the quality of the frame not just insert material.
  17. Berkley Lightning rod... I would guess mid 1980's
  18. I'm going to guess my All Star Zell Rowland is 30 years old. The originals will say Houston Texas on them and have a charcoal colored blank with maroon wraps. I've thought about selling mine as they bring silly money these days. It's a nice small squarebill rod also.
  19. Really depends on what size shaky heads you have in mind. If it's 5/16 with a 6 inch worm your jig /t rig rod will work fine If your looking to throw 3/16 and a finesse worm I see no reason to not use a spinning rod. Personally i use a Yamamoto 7ft medium and 6lb. line.
  20. The 7ft MF Legend Xtreme is one of those rods that is just special. Spinnerbaits ,jerkbaits walking baits, 2.8-3.1 paddletails on a 1/4 oz. head and a great finesse jig rod up to 3/8oz. Fishes just a little softer than a Loomis 843.
  21. I used the older bronze colored SBR for a few years. It was a nice rod but if you already have a 783/843 I don't think it's any better , A touch softer and slower.
  22. I don't own the 7 ft 4, my 7Ft 1 MH with a Curado E is right on the reel nut, the 7ft1 MH Xfast is a little further forward with a Curado 70, The topwater rod is also on the reel nut with a Curado 70. I think the updated version started in 2018. I imagine there my be some that are but so is my NRX 894. I think it's largely internet BS.
  23. Mono or a co poly. Actually fluoro is fine on a buzzbait where there's very little line in the water and it's always pulled tight.
  24. I use Danny Joe's some for shaky head and wacky rig also in merthiolate as a trick worm alternative.
  25. Purple Fliptail , night fishing with my Dad on Table Rock.
