  2. I have the 820DSR, I bought it to use as a ned rig rod with 6lb. flouro and so far I'm really impressed with it. The build is clean, it's light, and plenty sensitive.. I do wish they had used something better than aluminium oxide guides but as good as the rod fishes I can live with them.
  3. My new DSR 820 says handcrafted in Washington state on the blank.
  4. The only xx cranking rod I own is the FSS.. It's a nice rod but not what I would consider a traditional crankbait rod , not as parabolic as you might expect. Given those 2 choices I'd personally spend the 70 bucks...but it's a close call.
  5. The 853 is a great choice... I also like the 803 around docks ect.
  6. Having fished both I like the NRX better. Just seems to fit me.. The MBR doesn't fish any heavier than the JWR, if anything they feel a little softer and a touch slower. more of a all purpose taper.. I buy all of my Loomis rods from American Legacy.. If you break one you bought from them, they will replace it..
  7. I fish the Spro a lot..Norman flake and blue bandit have been my best colors.
  8. Given a choice I would fish nothing but pre rap. But the new ones do run pretty well.. I still dont think they sound the same but they will catch fish... BPS has some colors that Tim Hughes designed that are really good ,PBJ, phantom PBJ, green Craw /blue belly and I believe a mossy craw maybe one or two others.. The ones that I got look great for a factory paint job... . Honestly , The key to catching fish on a wart is in how and where you fish it...It aint chuck and crank...
  9. I like a blend for shallower stuff. squarebills,warts,1.5's ect. For the deep divers nothing but glass.. I have a old quantum tour made back when they were still built in the U.S.A. and a Mojo big crankster.. I think one of the biggest advantages to glass is fish don't seem to pull off at the boat or when they are short lined...
  10. Tim Hughes. Hughes custom baits. and the Bait werks.
  11. The little bit I've messed with the 873crr it felt tighter than my 894... I would say more like a 4 1/2 power..But a lot of folks like it for heavier jigs,t-rigs ect...
  12. I fish both the 853 and 894, Personally although the 893 gets talked up more I dont care for the extra length. I pitch jigs in boat stalls and and around lifts a lot and I find the 7ft.5 cumbersome and I just like the way the 7ft 1 handles. Really depends on how and where you fish. The 3 power works fine for 1/2oz and a trailer but thats as heavy as I would go. I've always found the 3 power to be quicker than the 4 in general. If you want to throw senkos and flukes I would stay with the 3 power... Give the guys at American Legacy a call and see what they can do for you...
  13. I'd stick with the mushroom head. Check the Table Rock forum on ozark anglers,. there are several sources for them there.
  14. All you can do is use a weedless jig head..I throw it more around gravel but they will hang up....nature of the beast. There is a ton of ned rig info on ozark anglers.
  15. I almost hate to pass it on but the Jackall cover craw is really special . Rig it backwards with no weight and the thing will fall away from you and glide under boat lifts and walkways ect..
  16. I agree with bluebasser. I wouldn't throw a diving bait on it but a squarebill would work. Heck,I know a guy who makes custom balsa squarebills and is one of the best at it I know, and he throws them on a old Daiwa green handle jig and worm rod.... whatever works for you.
  17. I fish it on the same rod I would fish a stickbait on. Lately thats a TWR 802 with a chronarch 50 and 10 lb. flouro. The rod has enough tip to cast easily and enough butt to move the fish.
  18. I think the most important part is the proper jig head, the mushroom head is a must.. Either 1/16 or 1/8 oz. with the weedguard. I buy them from a guy who pours them with a good hook at a reasonable price let me know if you need his contact info. The TRD'S or the zinker Z's cut in half are the only way to go. As far as the rod I like a drop shot rod, something like a ML with 6lb. flouro.. I wouldn't try it on a ultra light. It works great here on Table Rock .
  19. Keitechs and swimmin fluke jr's.
  20. The Yamamoto twin tail is a great trailer.. I fan the weedguards a trim them back a bit if they're too long , exept on the Nutechs. .
  21. For poppers I use a old allstar Zell Roland TWS . For spooks, vixens ect. a Loomis TWR 802.
  22. I've fished the older model 783 and 843 for years. The only new model I have is the TWR 802 and its a great walking bait and jerkbait rod.. Really like the handle.
  23. I use the MH big crankster . Great diving bait rod for deep little N's . 5 and 6 xd's DD22's etc...as was said it's no lightweight but it handles fish great. I personally would never consider it a squarebill rod .
  24. I have 2 rods I use for 5/16-3/8. One is a NRX 853 the other is a Denali Noirwood 843.Both are MH, remember when you add a speed craw or whatever trailer you like it's going to be close to 1/2 oz. Personally I use 10lb.sniper on the finesse jigs.
  25. I would look at the Nu Techs. I've been pleased with them.
