Lets talk tube set ups
I like throwing tubes on a spinning rod. I just put a Shimano Sedona on a Lew's TP1 Speed Stick with 30lb braid and an 8lb leader of YoZuri or P-Line CX Premium. Working well so far. I like using either an EWG round shakeyhead without the screwloc stupid rigged or heads with a wire weed guard, both in 1/4oz.

That one thing you never thought you needed...
I'm going to have to go with the light weight wicking shirts, long convertible pants, light weight fingerless gloves and neck gaiters. I always hated putting sunscreen on and all those keep you covered while still keeping you relatively cool on hot days.

Two Struggles with Ned Rigs
I always break the bait keeper off of my Shroomz heads. It's nothing but a PITA anyways. It grabs the bait where you don't want it to and causes it to get all bunched up on it. I snap that thing off with a pair of pliers and do what was said above and put a dab of gel super glue between the back of the head and the half of a Zinker. It'll usually last well over 100 fish like that before I have to replace it. As for the hook getting all entwined in the plastic I try the half Zinker. It's a little shorter than the TRDs are, and they are cheaper since you get 12 to a pack (6 full ones cut in half) compared to the 8 you get in the TRD pack.

Caught a bunch of small smallmouth - Problem with getting hooks out
My wife is the queen of deep hooking fish. I'm not sure if she just doesn't feel the bite or what but I can be fishing right next to her using the same hooks and same soft plastic and I have to dig her throat hook out just about every fish where all of mine are hooked in the top of the mouth. I can't remember the last time I gut hooked a fish.

Beginner Baitcaster
I learned on a Bass Pro Pro Qualifier on a Shimano Clarus rod. I got the Pro Qualifier on sale for $60 (But they can be found for around $50 on Black Friday) and the rod was on sale for $40. I still use that rod and reel for a lot of things. The reel has a dual braking system and it's a nice reel to start with.

Problem with Zman Elaztech
The more used and roughed up the better Elaztec tends to work. Rig them up and catch some fish...

Fish Finder Power Cord too Short
Except 18ga wire is good for 10A of draw up to 50' when you have 2 conductors. That finder he has only draws 1.1A. He'll be fine with it in a 12' kayak.

Fish Finder Power Cord too Short
I don't think he'll need 12ga wire for a fish finder. That's a lot too big. I think my Garmin fish finder recommended nothing smaller than 18ga. Problem is it's hard to find 18ga wire at a hardware store it seems anymore. I had to order my marine grade 18ga wire from amazon to wire up my finder.

BPS onboard charger info.
I guess since it's only 4 amps per bank you could hook both up and not hurt the battery but according to Minn Kota's website. this will charge the battery almost twice as fast. However, the water in the battery is more likely to evaporate with higher charging currents. Thus, the electrolyte level should be checked more often. The maximum safe charging current on a regular battery is 20 amps.

If you could live anywhere
As much fun as it would be to live in So Florida and have all those places to fish for big Florida strain bass, I think I would miss fishing for smallmouth bass. I think I would have to live on one of the TVA lakes that has both big largemouth and big smallmouth. Pickwick, Wheelier, Guntersville, Kentucky. Any of those would do.

BPS onboard charger info.
No. Only connect one set to the trolling motor battery. Why wouldn't want to charge your cranking battery too?

R2S Chris Lane Top Notch, Big Mistake, and Lane Changer
Anyone else see these? Looks like they were put out at iCast but Chris used the Top Notch up at Champlain this past week with pretty good success. Top Notch looks like a Whopper Plopper with a double blade on the back, the Big Mistake has two double blades one in front and one in back, and the Lane Changer is a skinny version of the Big Mistake. R2S really trying to cash in on this Whopper Plopper craze.

Topwater lures for smallmouth bass
Horny Toad with a 4/0 1/16oz weighted swimbait hook with screwloc keeper. Smallies love those. Very subtle buzz action

Sad when you need to use Live bait
While I'm not a big fan of using live bait, I think it's kind of cheating just to get a fish to bite and I like the challenge of trying to mimic something that's alive with a lure, my buddy will pull out the minnow trap and get some minnows/shiners when the fishing gets slow. And he usually starts catching them.

Are Microwave guides worth an upcharge?
I have one on my new Lew's spinning rod I bought. It definitely straightens out the line past that guide compared to my rods that don't have it.

Adding a third treble to a jerkbait
Adding another treble to a hard bait that isn't supposed to have one will most likely ruin the action of the bait. Esp a suspending jerkbait. It'll sink instead of suspend unless you use some float dots or something.

Looking for 5' ML 2 piece spinning rod for my daughter
There's nothing wrong with that 5' Ugly Stik. I have that rod I bought for my 5 year old daughter with the Shakespeare Pink Ladyfish spincast reel on it. Is it the best combo out there, nope. Drag is horrible and it doesn't reel that great sometimes. But it's better than the Barbie and Princess rods I bought her when she was younger that cost the same. It works to catch bluegill and catfish though and it's even caught a 5lb cat that she reeled in. And it's pink, and that's all she really cares about. I'm just glad she enjoys fishing and that she doesn't mind touching the worms and the fish when we catch them. If you don't know if she will be interested in fishing later why buy her something that is more expensive?

River fishing after a flood
You'd be surprised how well fish can hold to the same location during big floods. From what I've researched the fish hug the bottom of the channel and the water isn't as swift down there as it is up top, and they also hold in eddies behind rocks and laydowns. Problem with floods and fishing is after the water goes down a little the fish get gorged with food that has washed into the river. It's usually a lot tougher for a while after a flood to catch anything. The good thing with floods is it scours out pools and brings new cover to the river in the form of new trees for the fish to hide in.

Braid guys - what's your take?
Finesse fishing=leader since the bass have a chance to look at the bait a bit. Reaction fishing(ie cranks, a-rig, fast falling baits, topwater)=straight braid

Wacky Rigging: Hooks working too well. Advice?
I just started using Berkley Fusion 19 wacky hooks with a weed guard and I'm a extremely impressed with how well they have worked for me. The fluorocarbon weed guard is very effective in keeping it from snagging on things too. All the fish I've hooked have been hooked in the side of the mouth

What line should I use for all around fishing?
Look at the P-Line CX Premium. It's a co-polymer line and is really strong for the rated strength. It's my go to line when I'm not using braid. The price is nice too at usually under $10 for 150yd spools.

Fantasy Fishing
Yeah, I don't like that as now people that are leading groups know who other people picked for their rosters and can choose new anglers accordingly so they can maintain their leads.

Fantasy Fishing
Yeah, and 0-0 9th inning pitching battles and 15-15 NFL kicking battles are fun to watch too... Oh yeah, and watching paint dry. LOL
